  • Fishing for tailor off the rocks around Coffs Harbour using metal slugs.

I started fishing midafternoon on a local headland, landed one decent tailor on the Halco 40g, but the wind seemed to be getting stronger so pulled the pin.
Soon as I got home the wind stopped, typical, lol, so headed to another headland just up the road to have another crack at them.
Plenty of small choppers around, not much size though, with one getting bitten in half just before landing it. With the wind gone it turned into a magic afternoon on the stones.

Thanks mate, glad the vids inspire people to get outdoors and have a fish. We are lucky to live in a spot with so many beaches, headlands and creeks to explore.

Thanks mate, yeah we are a bit spoilt for choice headland wise around here. I think there are 10 large headlands in 30kms of coast line and most are protected with no development on them.

Thanks for the sub! You are correct, when I watch back this vid I think how stupid I was for not wearing one.....especially seeing that I had one in the car. Cheers for watching Chris.

Hey mate, the last few weeks I have fished off most of the 10 or so headlands in the area and have caught tailor off every one of them. It all depends on wind and swell as to which spot is best/safest to fish on the day. But if you haven't been here before it's well worth a walk out on the north wall of the harbour and over to the end of Mutton Bird Island. You can rock hop around the island spinning for tailor, plenty of them around this time of year, good view on top of the island as well. Late arvo's starting to flick at 3pm is my favourite time to chase them. Good luck.

Two different headlands north of Coffs, they all have tailor around them this time of year. It's more about picking the right one each day depending on conditions, wind and swell etc.
