Watching a video like this makes you appreciate how amazing Jack is when he's on his own and left to his own devices. Anderton's-make it again with just Jack. I'll watch it all then, and not switch off after 2 minutes.

It is not for gigging musician, or someone with limited space, or limited budget. My DGX670, which you can get for 800£ also has cfx VRM, so I don't get why it is so hyped here like it is something special that this one has.

Check out the Kawai models which have wood keys before you buy the Yamaha. I retired from digital piano service a couple years ago an Yamaha was having a major failure of key switch contact circuit boards. They could not pinpoint the problem and they were just sending me whole new complete contact board assemblies. Often on back order for weeks. Plus they have stingy labor reimbursement rates for their authorize technicians. If I had to drive two hours for a service call, they would pay a mileage rate but not any labor time other than the actual time at the piano.
Looks pretty cool, but if Im spending this sort of money, Im getting a used Yamaha U3 any day of the week. Speakers are just never the same. Also its a bit over the top with the sales pitch.
I don't see why someone wouldn't choose the NU1X over this. That really is an actual piano action. Feels like Yamaha are competing with themselves in this segment
This man is a great representative for Yamaha! What a top bloke. But one can still hear that it's a digital piano. Why? No matter how good the technology is, it's still just based on sampling and not modeling. So there's only so much you can do.
Yes, this sounds exactly the same as my P515 from nearly a decade ago. Also the NWX action on it is good enough for me to play Chopin Preludes and pretty advanced pieces.
Why isn’t there an advert/sponsored logo or something at the beginning of this video, because this is just a very long advert, what an absolute waste of time. I really enjoy your videos generally and they, on the whole, feel very honest but this was a waste of time to hear a Yamaha salesperson speak nonsense for 35 minutes
I have the clp 625 and I don't see any improvements other than Bluetooth. Yamaha should add more features rather than largely re-release the same thing and trying to make it appear different. CFX, Bosendorfer imperial piano samples, binaural sampling, string and damper resonance, graded hammer action with synthetic ebony and ivory key tops and the other features mention all exists on the 625 model.
you are ignorant. completely different keyboards with a long lever on the 875, and not with a short one on the 625, different acoustic systems, and the main thing is the length of the samples, on the 625 they are short! I am telling you this as the owner of the 625! in addition, the 625 does not have such extensive settings for all parameters, and the 875 even allows you to choose the method of tuning the strings of 7 types, you can switch the transposition with the pedal and a lot of other things that the 625 does not have. and finally, the sound of the samples is simply incomparable, are you tone-deaf?
I've played the model with the lesser tier action, the GrandTouch S. It sounds like marketing exaggeration, but they really did get the weight perfect. There was a C7X right next to it, and the weight was spot on. Unfortunately, I didn't like the overall feel of it for other reasons--it felt...weak? Unstable? Not in a way that it was going to fall apart, but it felt like I was pressing a crumpled paper ball everytime. But the sheer touch weight was perfect.
After ten minutes I said "enough" -- too much talking (from promo folder), too little playing. As for DP itself, it is still furniture. I hear binaural samples. Did you record through the line output or through the headphone output? Why is there such a strong high-frequency white noise? Why is the noise unstable and sometimes increases and sometimes becomes weaker. I noticed this not only in your video. Is this a low-quality built-in amplifier? My old 625 does not have such noise at the headphone output. There is a slightly audible noise, but not that strong.
Omg, what am I watching lol….. the history of piano (beautifully explained I must say) and but here comes the sounds ……and hey….these are the same 12 yr old samples repackaged lol👏👏well done
Even the most complex virtual VST pianos only sound as good as the speakers putting out the sound. And HD audio has existed for 20+ years, so it´s less about the samples then the rest - which cannot easily be improved.
Nice video :) I was visiting a local Piano store a couple of months back. My friend there said ""Try this!" and showed me a Grand and handed me a pair of headphones. "First play acoustic!" I did, then he moved a lever or something under the Grand "Headphoine time!" - It was a Bösendorfer and the sound with headphones were basically the same as acoustic, presenting that lid-open allaround sound we all love from Grand Pianos. I was speechless, or rather "WTF, how do they do that?" - Amazing tecnoligy! And likely the reason Yamaha have it now, owning Bösendorfer. The Bösendorfer in the video was spot on btw, beauuuutifull!
@@audiosaucer2124 it's calld a silent system. It workes by lowering what's calld a "mute bar" preventing the hammers from hitting the stringss so you can hear the prerecorded sound threw headphones. Yamaha was the first to come up with the technology in 1993🎹🎶

Having been an authorized electronic keyboard tech for 36 years I can guarantee digital pianos are not maintenance free. Every brand has had issues with design failures in their action. I recommend any one considering buying one to make sure there is an authorized technician within 60 miles of you for the brand you are considering. Many have 5 year parts and labor warranties. You do not need regular tunings, but the key switches, the hammer cushions, the action friction points all will eventually have a failure. And an acoustic piano technician cannot repair the digital pianos. Also be sure to plug it in to a good surge protector.
Ok and imma let you finish but this is literally a FALSE grand piano experience!! Duh! (I actually like Yamaha digital pianos, got one upstairs, but I'm not trying to tell anyone it's a "true grand piano" experience)

It sounds great! I wish that I can get this level of sound in a stage piano. I believe that Yamaha can do this. Have you all noticed that every 5+ years that the piano sounds in digital stage pianos gets better by only small increments? A little better...a little better... well they have to make some more money. I have been trying to decide on which dp to get but I am disappointed by the lack of warmth and dynamic range of the sounds in them. While I like the CP and YC boards, I am still not impressed by the dynamic range of the piano sounds.
Wow, what a great video in every way! I've actually been fortunate enough to try this piano out and the actual feel of both the sound and action is absolutely stunningly great. Awesome to get the insider expert tech view of the greatness!
got the chance to play the acoustic CFX the other day. lovely but I guess I'll stick with the CFX Grand preset... I am not even worthy of the real one :)
First of all too expensive. Second of all after thinking that a digital piano would last longer and cost less due to no tuning I had to discover that the rubber contact points where the keys hit the electronic plates inside deteriorate relatively quickly and it is expensive to replace and quite an elaborate task to replace them
This video was so good that they're all already out of stock 😂 I'm not sure about the complaints in the comments, as a buyer this struck all the right notes (groan) especially the whole thing about holding down keys silently and getting the resonance.
