The Pantera channel is the official UA-cam home of one of heavy metal’s most influential bands. Pantera debuted their signature sound with ‘Cowboys From Hell’ and invigorated the metal scene with raucous hits “Walk,” “Cemetery Gates,” “5 Minutes Alone,” among many others. With the 1990 release of their album ‘Cowboys From Hell,’ Pantera created “power groove” and made them the heroes to headbangers everywhere. Their following album ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ was certified double platinum and widely acknowledged as one of metal’s most enduring masterworks. For the next decade, Philip Anselmo, “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, Vinnie Paul, and Rex Brown continued to ascend to the top of the music world with gold and platinum album and home video releases and sold out arena tours. Pantera's music didn't age a day. They sound fucking fresh and brutal even after more than 20 years.
Hell yeah man
That's right bro
VIVA PANTERA
It did age quite well, like an awesome 25-year old single-malt scotch.
It’s timeless
That’s the difference between real music and mainstream mindless trash
I just became a Pantera fan recently at 65. It's never too late.

Без сомнения, это так. Они великие!
@@user-ob1tq1ck6j they carried the metal flag in the 90s when everyone thought metal was dead. Pantera is awesome!
@@RickFlanagan Genuinely glad it's over so this modern world can't pollute them. I wish they were alive, obviously, but I'm happy they broke up. We can always come back to this point in time and enjoy them exactly as they should be enjoyed. Look at what has happened to Lamb of God. The modern world turned their singer into a weirdo sissy.

Pantera put out a lot of good stuff in the 90s idk whats my favorite between far beyond driven cowboys from hell and vulgar display of power they are all extremely good

@@nebulavortex3531 I think they're all equally good. Wish they had had a chance to do more ambitious stuff when they got older. Guess even if Dime hadn't been killed that Phil's voice would've given out.
This has got to be one of Pantera's finest moments. This song is just perfect. It never gets old. One of the best Metal songs of the 90's
Ok

Hell of a ringtone replaced heaven and hell so it's badass
Never heard another band like Pantera and unfortunately never will. Perfect medium between death metal and rock. Wish I could go back to the 90's!

Rex is one of the most underrated bass players of all time. His riffs and fills are absolute savage and heavy! He doesnt get enough credit as he should!
You damn right my man!!!
Its because he was in a band with Dimebag and Phil lol
100% true story
Bassists never do lol
He ain’t underrated, otherwise, he would have been replaced
I like to think of this song as one of a trilogy.
1/ I'm broken - Being at your lowest and feeling hopeless
2/ Mouth for war - Deciding to pick yourself up; beginning to ignore the 'false narratives' and the losers that spread them; and stick two fingers up to all naysayers
3/ A new level - Pushing onwards and feeling stronger by the day
where does becoming fall here
I’m with ya on the first two but I’d go 5 minutes alone

For all of the haters who say Pantera is just “hillbilly metal” or anything related to that type of label is absolutely clueless on every level possible. Dime was one of the greatest guitar players of all time and the combination of all four of these guys created metal magic for literally the entire decade that was the 1990’s. RIP Vinny and Dime. One of my oldest, closest friends, for over 40 years just died last week and we buried him today. He was the biggest Pantera fan I've seen. More band paraphernalia than anyone could ever have. He seen them in concert over 20 times, I was there a few times too. He had a life size cutout of Dimebag Darrell in his house. He had all their autographs on so many items. Followed them through to Damageplan, through Dimebag's and Vinnie's death to his own passing. Life long headbangers we are to the end. RIP Steve ...

Some of the best music and guitar ever!
As a guitarist, I’ve always liked recordings that can be replicated live. Dime deliberately didn’t add extra guitars during his solo in this tune because, I think, that’s how he wanted it to be when playing live. It just sounds more...organic and real. Layers and layers of overdubs can work on record, but unless you have 5 guitarists, don’t try and play it live, it will clearly be backing tracks!
pantera have been plenty guilty of that shit, but i give them a pass because i saw a clip of phil doing something to a guitar once. it was pretty obscene and certainly uncalled for. be careful. i could see someone potentially mistaking that for a request.
What you said makes sense but it could be in ode to black sabbath who done the same thing (and is there main influence) but pantera have many songs with overdubbed guitars for example cemetery gates where they skip the outro and intro (also with guitar under the solo on the album) also if you can’t tell this song had heaps of overdubbed guitars, and you can hear the guitar coming in before the solo even ends. I get your point but pantera don’t do this in every song
i think that he agrees and that's why he thinks this specific track was recorded without rythm guitar added. sounds good to me.
most of the time, they just play those additional layers from a pre recorded source at their indoor shows anyway
@@ysph Backing tracks aren’t the devil, or even second guitarists, like Phil on rare occasions, but personally, I like recordings that can be replicated live and feel a bit more punk rock, raw and not giving a fuck.

"Ruining" the band was probably the best decision (don't know if he did it on purpose). If they had continued with new records after records, would they still have the same position and status as today? I don't think so.
They might as well become a band with great history and some good recent songs (but mostly mediocre), which would probably never be considered "as they once were", from the fans.
