Nope, the set it up so it has stock risers. I ride 3 hours no problem. The older models with clip ons were bad. Do not lower the bars: much, much more comfortable.
Anytime, please reach out to me as needed. I made a video the other night discussing the R vs the S. Take a look if you can; I admit in the video that I would have bought the other!!
I wonder whether the silver color is a better choice than the matte black. Personally I prefer the black, but I'm afraid that it will easily be scratched, won't it?
great looking bike . how much $$$ does the fairing kit and clip ons cost? Do you see it as feasible to swap back and forth with the stock headlight or would it be a big hassle?
$1000 Fairing kit (now comes free with some standard models) which comes with a bar lowering kit and a new and pretty intense headlight bracket so in my opinion it may be a pain.
At the Brea, Southern California location they do it. Not on the R, but they gave me $250 off, which really just offset the install since I did the NRC fender eliminator as well. They have a white standard at Brea right now with the fairing on it and they waive the cost at purchase as far as I know.
gorgeous! be careful with traffic behind ya on a sunny day... looks like the blinkers would be hard to see. definitely a sleek and clean look for sure! cant wait to get mine. any recalls yet on this years thruxton R ?
Thank you! I agree on the signals. Those front signals from British Customs are very bright and in fact give a white lantern affect. The back on the other hand... Also, no recalls, runs real strong, and lifts the front real well. Be safe and enjoy.
just lookn out for a fellow rider :^) I have a feeling these thruxster R are gonna be on order basis . I got rid of my Zed1000 and been looking to get back in 2 wheels for about a year now. Good things come to those who wait A haha
what lower? you mean the handle bars? or u mean you lowered the whole bike? oh and does that stock seat have a 2nd rider option under that cowl or do you have to buy a entire new seat?
Bar lowering kit comes with the Fairing. You will need a new two up seat ($200-300) as well as PEGS which DO NOT come standard on the Thruxton models. This is $120-300 additional. I say the peg situation is kinda B.S.
First, does the faring not work with the standard bars? I'm guessing clash issues. I won't be able to ride more than 20minutes with the low clip-ones. Also, where are those front mini indicators from? Cheers.
I have seen the photos on Triumph Rat of the one with stock bars (with the risers) which indicate that it can be done. But the fairing comes with the lowering kit for a reason. I think it may be a space issue and I see the brake fluid reservoir being a potential problem. Triumph service advised me that they would leave it stock but they would not be responsible if it need to then be corrected should there be turning problems etc. It also looks perfectly even from the profile. All that said, it's different, you feel it, but it also feels better in the performance and riding sense (it feels bad ass when you ride it). It is not as bad as my old clip ons as they are still angled more level. I changed the grips to help a little as well. I chose to do it as recommended. Lights are retro from British Customs.
Also, one should consider the T120 for comfort and the potential to heighten the performance on the (same) 1200cc engine to get closer to the Thruxton. That T120 is the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.
+poit444 thanks for the replies. TBH, I really like the look of the T120 as well (have to change those pipes though) but the low power engine bothers me. I think it would be expensive to get it up to Thruxton power levels. I'm fine with the standard Thruxton bars.
I see your point. The Motorcyclist compared the two and it does sound like vast differences with the assertion "a low inertia crank, high compression head, sports mapping engine tune, and high flow exhaust, the Thruxton pumps out 96 hp with a compression ratio of 11:1 (vs. the T120’s 79 hp and 10:1 compression ratio)" when discussing the two 1200's. I just rode my Thruxton R and it's past the break-in period..it flies. I may ask Danny at Triumph if it's possible (or how close can we get) since we know the price difference is $2,000.
@@poit444 Hello, I just got the same retro BC front turn signals. I also have the fairing kit installed already on my 2016 Thruxton R. Did you need to take apart the fairing to install the turn signals or was there an easier way?
did the light come qith the fender delete? and does that front fairing have to be done in the shop or is it possible to do oneself? is it a simple appointment to remove it if you decide you wanna lose it for a couple months?
NRC Fender Eliminator Kit comes complete. You can choose whether to put the license plate all the way under or out and angled for better visibility. Also included is the plate illumination light.
The front fairing comes with its own bracket. It's much more intensive and I had the shop do the install since they gave me $250 off of the price of the part which helped. There are some deals out there including a free fairing with the purchase of a standard Thruxton. I would not consider taking it off. I used the lowing kit which came with the fairing and all things considered, I really like the upgrade.
The main thing is these Thruxtons now perform the part as well. The build quality on this bike, and in fact all three classics, is unbelievably exceptional.
I had never seen this bike before, looks amazing I can't wait for my own
The returns are still moving upwards: I am happier with this bike every time I ride it.
+poit444 is the bike easy to ride, I mean you feel tired after an hour riding it?
Nope, the set it up so it has stock risers. I ride 3 hours no problem. The older models with clip ons were bad. Do not lower the bars: much, much more comfortable.
+poit444 thanks for all the information, enjoy your cafe racer 🙌🏼

Really great looking bike! I'm also gonna get the black mat one for next spring. can't wait.

did i read that correctly, the fairing kit comes with the standard model?

BTW they took $4k off a 675 Daytona today (red) so those guys like to keep the bikes moving.

Nice, ttc off in road or sport mode will have you on one wheel for a bit. She's a blast.

Is there a name for that style of front fender? I can’t seem to find it anywhere
Wow. That looks amazing.
Performs well, so great to ride these new Thruxtons! Thank you for commenting.

The shop just completed one without lowering the bars and it clears, it's close, but it does clear the fairing.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get those turn signals from?
No problem at all: British Customs Retro Turn Signals.
@@poit444 Hello, I just got the same retro BC front turn signals. I also have the fairing kit installed already on my 2016 Thruxton R. Did you need to take apart the fairing to install the turn signals or was there an easier way?
this bike really reminds me of ducati's sports classic bike.
will the same fairing fit for royalenfield interceptor 650
Possibly, but only if you lower the handle bars
@@poit444 is it possible to lower the handle bar for re interceptor 650 or totally change the handle bar?
Very nice!
A really enjoyable ride today! Thanks!
can u tell me were u ordered the fender removal kit and ur front signals
Fender removal is NRC and retro signals are from British Customs. I got them all from my local Triumph dealer's parts dept.
right on thanks
Did you get a manual with the kit??? I can't find it online! Thanks!!
I did not either. There is always that Triumph instructions site.
I'm curious now: Part # A9708412?
I emailed them and they quickly sent me one!! Thanks!!!
what rear light set is that? ive seen a few different kinds and brands

lower the bars feel much unconfort ?
I hated them lowered, I put them back and it was a huge difference. They fit fine with the stock risers.
lowered they look sick from this video , glad to ear that is better in the stock
What fender eliminator kit is that?
NRC
+poit444 looks great. Nice bike 👍

Hot. Although I want a red one.
Get the red one, I wanted to get red and convert it to gloss black.
