Tired of feelings slow when going up the stairs? Wish the knee pain would just go away and stairs would become easier? Your wish can be granted! 🎉
When it comes to knee pain up the stairs, it's important to make sure you are building strength to support the knee joint and power to help propel you up. Without the proper muscular strength and power, you may be limited to doing one step at a time. If you are lacking confidence on one leg- this can make stair climbing difficult as well.
In this video, you'll learn why stair climbing can become difficult as well as two exercises to help reduce knee pain up the stairs. You'll also learn a trick to unlock more stair climbing exercises without increasing pain. Dr. Alyssa Kuhn, physical therapist shows you stair climbing secrets to get started on your journey.

I found you just in time. I am amazed at how effective these are right from the start. Many thanks dear Alyssa❤
You’re very welcome!
Excellent going to add this step exercise in to my sit stands it’s one hip that is the issue I presume this works for that too! I agree with the “don’t go too quick” mantra on my journey with you I’ve made that mistake a few times, and suffered for it, I’m going to conquer the stairs eventually! Thanks
You got the stairs!
Thank you Alyssa! So happy to have found you and this video. I am so challenged by the three steps from the garage into the house. I am pulling on the door knob and then the door jamb. Looking forward to “gradual” improvement using your strengthening exercises. ❤

Glad it was helpful!
I really do not know if I have any problems but what I know is as I am not active in going up and coming down the stairs. I am very slow but no pain. I was thinking this could be fear of falling down, as I had once fall down or age as I am 66 years old. What ever the reason I have your information has help understand, motivated and believed that I can improve what I am lacking and avoid that can likely come if I persistently work out these simple 2 exercises. Thank you so much. From Ethiopia

Welcome to the channel!
Amazing! I wish you were around when my father-in-law had his knee pain. He didn't like doing therapy. I've done therapy also with minimal results for my hip, but your exercises work so much better. I had gotten the Dr saying it's just old age when I was 50. Just take pain medicine. My worst problem is sleeping and hip pain. (Which is partly our expensive mattress) So I'll search your videos for that and continue your exercises. I've never seen so many comments with thank yous:)! thank you truly
You are so welcome! I appreciate your support. Say hi to your father-in-law for me.
Thank you sooo much just wanted this exact video

Welcome!
As always....my pain keeps me afraid--afraid of the pain and what it's telling me-I'm injuring myself, shouldn't take my walks, I'm doomed to a future surgery.
I've recently returned to the Blueprint which I absolutely love. That's great. But should pain itself be an indicator that I'll create more damage to my knees with an activity? What is joint pain and surrounding tissue pain really trying to tell those of us with bone on bone arthritis? Thanks Alyssa! Lisa C
Excelente vídeo. Muito obrigada

Thank you so much Alyssa. Your videos are a great help. I have started following your chair yoga video and I find a lot of improvement in my knees. I have Rhumetoid arthritis in my knees and I have difficulty in climbing stairs. Can I do these exercises?
It really depends on how here feel for you but exercises for RA and OA are pretty similar.
Thankyou for this, I had a knee injury and I am not confident on my right leg but this is helping❤❤
You're welcome! Keep up the great work.
@@arthritisadventure ❤️❤️
Thank you for your videos, they are very good. I have a question and would like your opinion. Do Recumbent bikes help you gain leg strength and are they a good cardio workout. I am 77 and am fairly active in my home. I don’t sit a lot, but am up doing things most of the day. However I do have problems with stairs because of my knees. I go up and down stairs like a toddler and would love to stop that! I would love to join your program, but at this time that is not feasible for me to do. However I do find your videos very helpful. I have only recently found them, but what I have seen makes perfect sense to me. Thank you for your help.

Hi Alyssa, this is Atul from India. 60 years old. On 07th October 2022 I simply fell down on the road walking (there was no accident) as a result of which I had to undergo a "right hip replacement". I walk but with a limp due to different muscle weakness. Can your exercises help me overcome muscle weakness and walk without a limp? Second would I be able to do some jogging effortlessly? As of today I am unable to walk straight forget about a jog. Awaiting your response anxiously...
Thanks!

Thankyou. Mam.supev. valhavalamutan ❤❤❤
You're welcome!
my issue is imbalance. Diagnosed with Meniere's - only my wavy state is always. I stay close to something that I can put my hand on for balance while doing this. Is there information you can add to stabilize? Funny thing is I bought a step platform just before I had the distal femur break and got it out of the box yesterday. thanks! 😸
I purchased the adjustable step you demonstrated the step exercise. How many times per day should I do the 10 - 20 rep exercise?
I'm just living with that pain you're talking
