Rewatched recently. It holds up better than I thought it would. Well shot. Definitely has a 70s Spielberg feel to it. And the car itself is....I gonna say it...Hella Cool!!!
Take a bow,Sir. Even to this day,the movie is never parodied. It remains a very scary horror movie and thats all due to your ingenuity and excellent writing , vision and expertise. Great job. Also you were wise beyond special effects. The movie will forever remain scary mainly because the evil remains faceless. So you can never conquer it. We conquered Jason,Freddy and Michael Myers. But you can't conquer what you can't see.
It’s a highly underrated horror film and one of my all-time favourites. I saw this decades ago and certain scenes have stayed with me ever since! Surprised Hollywood hasn’t rebooted/remade it already...
As a little kid.. I was absolutely TERRIFIED of the scene where the cars flies through the window and kills kathleen lloyd. I laugh now as an adult... this movie was partially what got me into liking cars!! I always loved the modified Lincoln that was used as "the car"
Seen this movie when I was a kid back in the early 80's. Surprisingly it didn't didn't scare me but it fascinated me instead. I always loved the roar of that 460ci Ford V8! One of my favorite horror films... thanx for bringing it to us!
To this day the car gives me goosebumps. I saw it when it came out. And I own it now. The movie that is lol. One evil machine and I think he did a great job on this film. Showed enough of the car to prove its evil personality. 5 star movie still today.
I believe there is something about the sound of the car engine and horn that taps into some part of my nervous system and triggers a fright reaction. Something very similar happens in an episode of "Kolchak, The Night Stalker" called "Chopper" that features a headless motorcycle rider. The optical effects are just plain awful, but the sound of the motorcycle trips off that same logic in my primitive brain. Like the movie "Duel", I consider this a great movie in accomplishing it's fear inducing objective.
@@damonwilson3609 A remake with today's technology would be awesome. Forget about the second part. That had nothing to do with the first movie and it was crap.
Notice how the car swerves and misses Amos on purpose, because hes doing the devil a good dead by being an abusive husband and bad to his kids! Nobody ever understands that scene! Also James Brolin designed The Car!
Now, where is the footage of how the screenused cars were built, cause many know that George Barris did fuck all for the building process, also Elliot is the first person to EVER refer to "JAWS" as "The Jaws"
I liked this movie if they did make a sequel of the movie that would be cool but the name would of been the car 2 and there was a sequel of the movie but with different actors and it stated with a different creepy car until the end of the movie someone builded Original customized car from the old movie and it wasn’t that good and don’t see much of the scenes in it not like the one from 1977
I saw on TV back in 77' and many times thereafter, I still love it today!
Very well made film. It sounds like a silly concept but it really works. It is very atmospheric and the mystery of the Car is very intriguing.

One of favorite movies of all time! Saw it when it first came out at 9 years old in 1977.

Car guy here. Have a model of the CAR and on dvd. Very entertaining movie. Still throw it on occasionally.
Loved that movie.

Jeepers Creepers might have been inspired by The Car with that creepy truck and horn
Kolchak Darren mc,gavin TV series was really good
James Brolin...oh la la! Great movie, classic 👌 You did good Mr. Silverstein...
I enjoyed that movie at the time. I really like the way they customized that car. As cheesy as it is, it's still a great movie to watch today.
Mr Raymond? I don't mean to sound shook but that car and that damn horn would be scary right now in 2021. Facts!

This was one of the best movies made, ever.
this was a great movie
Gotta think 1974's Killdozer was also inspiration for 1977's The Car

I never understood it either, the way you explained it makes sense
Wow, no wonder. that's a good point. Thanks.

The Car is massively underrated. It was "spooky".
Great movie.
Awesome film. Still a fan.
I believe it was one of the best horror films of all time. Just my opinion and one of my top five.
Why was the car’s horn sounds like a big rig’s horn
Fun 70s movie❤

Esatto, mai visto un filmato dei lavori,o non esiste,o non lo fan vedere
Classic.
A sequel would be cool. But in the same manor as the original. No CGI, same car. More vicious. More unknown.

Bring The richards sisters back and make a sequel.
The fire that destroyed the car would be very simple today using CGI.

With digital those stunts would have looked unreal and fake. We need a soft reboot/sequel pronto.
