When I was a youngster and student of course, I did a short term study exchange in the U.K. My host family introduced me to the U.K. version of fish and chips and I was immediately hooked. Fast forward 5 years and while in the US Army stationed in Germany I got to visit the U.K. a couple more times and always had my fish and chips and beer. Anyhow, your video brought back great memories for me and your food looks so delectable, the video made me hungry.

@Mark Gable yeah they stopped serving them in plain paper because they found out the ink used in newspapers were poisonous to human beings. So they use plain news paper instead without the ink cause the paper is a good heat insulator.
It's great to see a business producing a great product, why do so many other fish and chip shops produce a soggy mess, unfortunately due to the many bad chip shops near me, I don't buy, my local one produces pale undercooked chips, well done to all who take pride in what they do.
Fish needs to be flashed fried. I use to got to fish fries in Islands and they used a big cast iron pot and the fish was great. But they would test there oil heat by taking a wooden match stick and put it in the oil if it was hot it would light the match this is how they tested it for correct temperature before cooking. And would allow it to reheat before putting more in. The fish would sink to the bottom and when it floated back to the top they removed it.
I saw the blocks of Frymax being delivered and shuddered. I abhor the deforestation and murders of Orang Utans in Malaysia for more palm oil plantations. I then thought I shouldn't comment before finding out more about Frymax which I did. Their sources of palm oil are as good as it gets and I'm happy to believe it's true. Certainly the best chippy frying medium these days. My memories go back to the 1950s when fish and chips were a monthly treat. We lived in the country and had to travel to the nearest town for our gourmet experience which was eaten from newspaper wrapping sitting in our little old Ford! As chippies changed from beef dripping to oil, my Dad would drive further afield to keep the tradition! At 8 years old I couldn't tell him that I preferred the oil cooked grub! I've moved around over the years and have had both phenomenal mouth watering pleasure, and seriously vile experiences. Probably a bit late in the day, but I'd love the job of a roving chippie critic! These guys are seriously professional and I hope to visit sometime. Thumbs up from me!
I wish my local Captain D's or Long John Silver's took such care in fixing their dishes. If so, I would eat more fish and never touch a fast food burger again. When I ever get the chance to visit the UK, the first food I eat will be fish & chips.
A great window into the workings of a real fish and chip shop. Word to any tourists visiting England: If you want 'proper' fish and chips, buy them from an English run establishment.
So I’ve recently bought one fish and chip shop from a large chain (not Krispy’s) and we have really improved the service and the food! That being said I am unsure as to why it would take Krispies 4 a half hours to prep each day unless they are just shutting shop in the evening without doing any cleaning or maintenance what so ever.
In Canada 40 years ago We use to have a Proper fish and chip chain ... 30 years ago we had a place that took fresh potatos and skinned them and manually pressed them into a slicer 20 years ago you could find real beef dripping gravy with fresh fries "Chips" 10 years ago to now ...Fish cost too much for a place to make a profit from No one wants to spend $20 for 1 small piece of fish French fries are mostly bought off a food company And are frozen Gravy comes in powdered packages just add water You cant sell fish and chips wrapped in newspaper As it is a health hazzard And ban by the heath department The world is going to shit...
Your Welcome, i love American Food especially Meatloaf. Just remember the Fish N Chips you buy in the towns are nowhere near as good as the Fish N Chip shops on the coast!
Looks very good. The only thing I’m not keen on is the cardboard box, my local chippy wraps it in paper. But at least it’s not in a polystyrene tray. The fish and the chips look very good indeed, always nice to see good standards. We had a great local chippy when I was a youngster, my Mum worked there for several years, both on the counter and waitressing in the restaurant part (which was on two floors). Everything was fresh same as this. It was a husband and wife team. And they both had high standards. The girls serving and waiting in the restaurant had to look smart with their hair tied up, and if someone wanted bread and butter, it was real butter, spread evenly on the bread and right up to the edges of the slice. Anyone here from Sussex who remembers Shiphams of Hove in George Street??
You have great fish tacos in California but if you don't have the right fish for F&C it will never taste right, unfortunately not every shop in the U.K. is good. By the way, we may have a load of fish available real soon)
Fine business run just like my Grandad's shop. Ditch the cardboard boxes and wrap fish and chips in paper. Boxes are so wrong - vinegar runs out & drenches customer.
Unfortunately the only time I've been to London (2002) I was 6 weeks pregnant and evey smell, every meal, and clouds of cigarette smoke I was surrounded by made me absolutely nauseous 🤢 I would like to go back and try all their foods !🙏
Great to see that there is still a fish and chip shop in the U.K. run by British people. (not just British passport holders.) Although the Syrians in my old home town did a pretty good job.

What make fish and chip soggy is these dumbass here do not allow the oil come back up to temperature before they put the next batch in.

How much?
Looks real good . I could do that easy .
I'd give them 9/10, don't care for the cardboard box
What’s wrong with the box?
Getting too close to fast food McDonald's and pizza style for my liking
The box serves a purpose when I fresh fish is put in paper it sticks to the paper this doesn’t happen with the box
Plus there made of paper not plastic or polystyrene so recyclable
fish n chips wrapped in 2 layers of paper the old fashioned way keeps them much warmer for longer, also can be recycled
Worst part is its in Exmouth of all places lol only been in there once
I love good fish and chips the best I had was in Mexico.
When they are cutting off the eyes and other bits they cutting off a lot of waste
