Blood pythons are very mellow and just as calm as ball pythons when u work with them. As babies they will be alittle timid and defensive but that doesn’t last long once you start to handle them.
There reputation is from about 30 years ago when they were first being wild caught and brought into captivity. It is now completely outdated and they can be tamed out pretty easily. They can make amazing pets and are perfect for intermediate keepers
I've never been bit by my blood python even when she was a baby but I was bit by my ball python I think I got really lucky with my blood cause she's a sweet heart
i can follow up by saying yes that is luck, moods generally aren’t the same but with my blood python for example they get very hissy and sometimes strikes until you get them out of their enclosure then they become a big baby.
Blood pythons are typically classed as aggressive but most blood python are more commonly chilled out given a proper environment.

My blood python is an absolute sweetheart she rarely hisses at me and that’s only when I’m messing with her trying to move something in her enclosure, other than that she’s just as sweet as my ball pythons. I trust her not to bite me more than my corn snake
That's my statement too. I have one for 2 years now & he's not describing mine in any regard. I don't even handle mine all that much & it's fine with me. I've never even seen a video of one trying to bite somebody.
Yes they can be very tame I have 2 blood python that will bite Occasionally, but only for as self-defense purposes, or if he smells a rat as long as you handle them frequently, show them that you’re no harm to them they will be just as good as a ball python honestly
I have a blood python that’s about 8 months old and he/she is tame as all get out. They are not even head shine. My 5 year old grandson plays with him and pets his head all the time
i have a blood python and he’s a chill as ever he just chills no quick movements just explores slowly when i handle him and very docile even once my power went out and had to take him to my girlfriends for heat and he was as chill as ever body so it’s iffy

Blood pythons don’t like being held up in the air because they’re a terrestrial python.
