I love my 1800c. My favorite part is when riding 2-up it still never lacks for power/torque. It really is a beast. My least favorite thing is that its not a 6 speed and it needs to be.

Great bike. I have an 02, 38,000 miles, Hypercharger , Power Commander and V& H exhausts. Very few problems, except Honda's rear wheel bearings are shit, replaced em twice until my shop recommended aftermarket bearings. Besides that, had the water pump crap out once, but that's it.

I want one of those engines for a 2 stroke conversion project. there a lot of room on those jugs to cut ports into them, i am thinking of using my yz-250 port pattern and domed billet aluminum heads and get rid of the ugly valve-train. Big harley v-wins make for a nice 2 stroke conversion also. something like this:ua-cam.com/video/RWO-QvjZqkQ/v-deo.html. Thats a Honda GX converted to a uniflow 2 stroke.

Great. But the VTX1800 still just sounds awful. No fixing the basic engine flaw. The crankshaft is the problem. The 1300 is a much better bike. It has a single crankpin for both rods.

The Vance and Hines sound just dandy on this bike with a set of quite baffles installed. Takes the "tinny" sound out of it and gives it a deeper tone. It'll never sound like a Harley Davidson if that's what you're after....so I guess you'll just have to settle for its other attributes, like smoother, more powerful, more technologically advanced, more fuel efficient, better built, longer lasting, etc

Not knocking anyone's bike I just put a 205/60 16 car tire on my 2008 vtx and it hooks and books now. I was burning through dunlops. I got older so I gave up my R1 for a cruiser. I choose the vtx or the raider for personal reasons they are both stupid fast but I live in Harley country and i have embarrassed anyone who has raced me so far. I know there's always some one faster and I'll line up to them eventually but I am a vtx fan.

That lane splitting at the end is an example of a horrific decision on a bike not suited for that behavior, however...If you definitely want to fk your bike up, and possible yourself, it's a great choice. There's a time for that, and a situation where it's fine, that was *not* one of those.

Obviously Harley Davidson was threatened but what an amazing looking and reliable motorcycle Honda made why would anyone buy a Harley if Honda continued to make this bike.
