I love all the tangents you go on bringing up random positions to illustrate various points. It's amazing how you have this seemingly infinite reservoir of games in your head!
Nah you jus be remembering games when you scrutinize a board for hours and hours calculating variations and pondering principles. Burns it into your memory
Man, I never thought of h3 as a preparatory move for unpinning the pieces on demand. I always just go h3 g4 instantly and it destroys my structure. This idea will definitely change my playstyle. Thanks Danya!
Danya should get someone to make a mini doc about his life and how he rose through the ranks in chess, growing up being one of the best players in the country, etc etc. maybe it wouldn’t get the most views ever but it might deserve the most views ever!
I love that he has so many subscribers based on him actually teaching you about chess, and in such a great way, no bs entertainment like gotham chess, just normal and great commentary. There are too many people who just want more subscribers so they give you "content". Sometimes it is actually good and funny like the botez sisters, and sometimes in is annoying like gotham chess, but he shows that some people appreciate a relaxed teaching of chess by a very strong player. I have learned so much watching his games.

I actually won an online tournament game against a 2100 in february (being myself 1600) with this line, my opponent went queen side castle and it ended pretty much like this x) (I was above my own level in that game, found a brilliant rook sacrifice to open his king with a ~10 moves follow up)
this man was put on earth to make complex concepts simple down to their analytical foundations in the shortest amount of time possible. we are lucky to be alive at the same time as both Danya and UA-cam
I really enjoyed seeing the h3 idea used as a preparatory move without g4 shortly after. It's a great resource when needed later in the game. I'll be using this idea for sure. Thanks Danya!
When I found this channel I was addicted to these speed runs, and it was a sad day when I finally went back and finished them all. Always exciting when I see a new one posted
Really enjoy the examples of the same core idea at work in other games - they’re valuable so keep them coming! I’d really enjoy seeing GM Danya’s explanations on pawn storms - good, bad, attacking, defending… If I get beyond blunders (beginner here) that common scenario would be a high priority.
I analyzed every game in the first day of the candidates with a chess engine. I highly recommend it to anyone here. It is nice to see a Danya upload even when the hardest tournament to win is going on!
“I get this massive diagonal for the knight, I get a very nice perch for the other knight…” my man I know you’re a grandmaster that is incredible amounts of rating points stronger than me, but that just makes that mistake so much funnier. On another note, thank you again for providing such amazing content, unbelievably instructive and entertaining, always a pleasure to watch and learn
I like this line as white. I have difficulty with the scandi, I am not sure where to put my pieces and sometimes when black castles queenside it can be uncomfortable for my queen of the same rank. Thanks for showing me this, I am going to play it in my games. The fact that black seems to be infatuated with castling queenside so often makes the fianchetto bishop system even better.
there are a lot of references to "the original speecrun" or "a previous game" - but it is impossible to find them. You should consider a way of indexing these speedrun videos, it can ake this project MUCH more helpful

Hey Danya, you always seem to remember a game of yours that has similar themes to what you’re trying to illustrate. Is there a method to ingraining your own games in your brain? Or is it just as you play more and more you can remember your games after studying them a bit?
He is probably recalling classical games. Imagine you spend hours playing something in a tournament then analyze every move afterward, and this is also part of your job.
imagine knowing at the start of the game that you are playing a GM and STILL you just no brain all moves in a Rapid Game like its Blitz, either hes -2iq and cant think for longer then 5 sec or he actually belives he can win on time vs Danya which is even more stupid
danya please make opening videos. you mention a lot of ideas but i would love to see them compiled in dedicated opening videos. And if you make them, please have a beginner asking you questions like "what if my opponent plays this" and "what if I play this move instead"
I feel like it's bad to just tell beginners/intermediates specific moves like that. Better to understand the ideas behind an opening. Trying to just memorize theory at lower levels isn't worth it because your opponent is not going to play the best lines/moves.
@@worsethanjoerogan8061 it's not really about memorizing moves but instead understanding the position and themes of certain openings. Your opponent doesn't have to play theory for you to understand the opening.
@kittu : Actually, Danya is making an endgame series. He might have to work more on that, before starting an openings series. Even prophets are mortal.

How does Danya remember his games that happened years ago? I can barely remember my last Rapid game on Lichess 🤣
He analysed them afterwards so the patterns stay in his head.
GMs built different
Tbf a classical game is way easier to memorize (though I def don't know all classical games I played this year, let alone ever)
Passion mixed with repetition breeds total recall
When you sit at the board for over 3 hours, it's surprisingly easy to remember your moves and ideas

all of this started with fienchadoing the bishop. how did we find that initially?
Socrates returns !!
29:15 I don't get the move order of the pawn storm. If h5, g3 fxg3, white can still play h3 just like in the other move order suggested.
To be honest after placing the white bishop on g2, black playing queen side castle was very convenient.
This is god level content
When my opponent castles queen side it's usually time to call for aid.
But not for me.
how about remi ? 16:36 , ...Qxb4, Rb1 Qxc3, Nxc3 Bxd1, Nxd1
4:19 on my computer with Stockfish 17 it went from +0.4 to +2.0 for white so...
I don't agree that it is risky, it's pretty lost ;)
And after 10.b4?? you're down to only +0.2 for white after takes ;)
10.b4 looks crushing but is pretty much a blunder...
