I love how the title is "Handling the IQP" ... and then Danya just sacs it.
Lmao I was thinking the same 😂
Hey its certainly handled
I saw "Handing the IQP" ngl
I guess that’s how you handle it 😅
This is probably the best game of the speed run so far
yup, my favorite game easily
As a caro player that’s learning this e5 line, I agree
Without question
Amazing analysis by grand master naroditsky
At 27:05, why not a sac the queen with QueenC3 and then RookD1 forcing mate?
One of the very few UA-camrs who doesn’t, at all and never, insult the intelligence of his audience. Thank god for content like this
One of the few than can captivate an 800 elo all the way through 2000+ elo.
Which chess UA-camrs insult the intelligence of their audience?
@@mikecantreed do you want me to make a list of them?
Yeah especially for chess Danya, Levy (Gothamchess) and Eric Rosen are great because you can take away something from every video
Ben finegold comes to mind. “If you want to see a bad game go upstairs, if you’re at home, look at one of your own games.”
The struggle to find the tactics was incredible. The constant shutting down of his own lines was super inspiring
in all seriousness the discipline in not just chasing exciting-looking ideas without knowing whether they work is very impressive and something to aspire to
There's something with GMs being able to make use of their bishop pair with such class and harmony. A work of art.
A masterpiece
For real. I happened to play a GM in a 15 minute game by incident, as he had only played 1 or 2 rapid games on Lichess.
I won an exchange and felt like king, then his bishops completely wrecked me.
This a a great example on how to use the bishop pair. I can’t use them to save my life
@@yesyoeable i only played an fm in my online games hhhh
What is your rating btw? Or was it in a swiss tournament?
@@strikercool911 I'm 2000-2100 rapid. His rating was provisional and I joined his rated game on the lobby.
Opponent was very impressive this game. Great game to watch!
Absolutely love when the opponent comes to compete, so much more entertaining and instructional
he was very good but a little petty there at the end but again he is free to do whatever with his 15minutes.
@@MasterJack2 traiditional Chinese chess training style is to never resign, always let ur opponents mate you, its also a show of respect to play out a game.
Yeah great defense, i swear i can smell the opponent sweating from my monitor, poor guy
One of my worst fears is to wake up on day and find a video of Danya announcing he is not gonna do speedruns anymore
I would just like to comment on how it is extremely impressive that, despite having 3 other completed speedruns, and being deep into this 4th, the last few uploads have been truly some of the best, most instructive, entertaining, and most honed of all speedrun videos on youtube. (and yes I am including speedruns from other chess content creators as well). It is apparent that Danya has really tweaked the format and approach to almost a perfected state. The chess community is truly blessed to have the Sensei as one of it's predominant public figures. 🙏❤🙌
Babe wake up new Danya vid 🥳
Babe is already watching. You're late.
Again?
I see this comment on every video
Opponent rated 2000 but defended like a 2300. What a wonderful game this one was.
Also, I really appreciate you changing the time to 15 mins for the higher rated opponents. It's really helpful.
Great game! It's amazing how for most of the game white was only lagging behind by a single tempo, but that made all the difference.
Such an exquisite game! Among the most deep and complicated games you've played this speedrun. Honestly, hats off to your opponent who played just absolutely stellar defense, finding so many amazing resources. A chess game is authored by two players, after all :)
Daniel is genuinely the best chess content creator. No fake hype, no filler, no boasting, all skill and respect.
Also check out GingerGM 👍
This was one of the best speedrun games ever. You demonstrated perfectly how to play for Initiative in pawn-down or IQP positions. And the best thing was the tenacious defense of the opponent who made it really hard for you to convert the winning position
Plus a Caro-Kann game, we know you like it !
Even though this one was more open than positionnal
This might be the single most instructive chess video I’ve ever seen
I love how Danya says stuff like "most of the grandmasters..." as if he isn't almost a super GM himself
Danya was literally a world champion in the under-12 division when he was 11, so it's funny to hear that sort of thing when we all know he's a fantastic GM
The explanations following the game form one of (if not the) best explanations of how high GM level chess is. He calculated all of those variations in a couple of minutes total. Meanwhile, he shows how these are all filled with crazy tactics. Just realise, he’s listing all of these rejected lines because 5-10 moves down the road there’s a crazy tactic that I couldn’t even spot when looking at the position and given a minute or so to think. And for Danya, it’s just one of the many, many variations that he has to go over in his head. Absolutely insane.
That sort of visualization, memory, and calculating ability is what separates GMs from mere mortals.
Absolutely incredible game, brilliant attacking ideas and excellently defended by the 2000, bravo!
An hour of my favorite chess streamer, teaching me something I desperately need to learn, and the video is an hour long? Am I dead and in heaven? Or am I alive and finally found the happiness I always wanted before a work day and the worst work day of all time, MONDAY. Ode to-fucking-joy homies.
Amen
unusually long
lmao
An hour long video that’s an hour long?! Get outta here!
Daniel, I think you're the best educational chess streamer on UA-cam, no contest. The explanation for why such a normal looking move like nc3 is inaccurate is brilliant. You've really made my game much better these last few months. Thank you for all your hard work!
One of the best analysis I have ever seen, thank you
This was the most entertaining game out of all the speed runs. Amazing game
The more and more I watch GM naroditaky more I realize how priceless these series are. Thank you for these simply the best chess channel on youtube
I never get to catch these live so thank you for uploading them consistently, and just wanted to say thank you for this series. I watch whenever I can and feels so good to be able to predict moves. I am definitely better than I was before this series started, and it's thank to your wonderful teaching skills for everyone from beginners to advanced players - I've gone from around 600 blitz to 900, and am about 1200 in rapid (I play a lot less rapid). My next goal is to start playing OTB at my college's chess club, even though I still suck and there are millions of people better than me, I have the confidence to try and improve more.
Thanks again
I don't care that the concept wasn't exactly the same.. How insane is it that someone in the chat asks about a move, and Danya shows him that it would blunder mate and immediately thinks of a similar mate that happened in a game almost TWENTY years ago!! That's just insane 😮
Carlson can also do that, needless to say. We witness true genius.
Best chess series on YT.
Inject these videos straight into my veins
I'd love to see one of these with Chess 960! See how he approaches totally novel positions right from the start. It would be great because as a relative beginner, I don't know any of the opening theory that usually already gets Daniel in a winning position.
An incredibly rich game. The tension between the Caro being so solid but only if you play correctly. The measured play by Danya was pitch perfect as an educational video.
Been waiting for more naro kann, thank you!
Man, this was just beautiful. Thanks, Danya!
I’ve been working my way backwards through the speed runs being a late finder of this channel and I have to say that this game and analysis is probably the best so far. Bravo.
Amazing video. Love it!
Amazing video. I really enjoy the quick engine analysis after you've done the full deep dive into the positions yourself.
Thank you, enjoy these videos, appreciate how you talk through lines and insights throughout the game. Cheers
White was just behind one single tempo!
Danya shows the reason WHY he is a GM!! Pure class.
Loving the sensei speed run!
those videos are a blessing thank you danya !
A total pleasure the chance to watching on youtube this fantastic GM. The complete way He analizes the game have no words to describe it. Thank you!
My mind is blown by the depth of the analysis as well as the quality of play during the game. This speed run has challenged me to think deeper and reinforced how much I don’t understand about chess.
Amazing play by your opponent. Loving the game so far
So instructive! A big thank you to Danya and also his opponent for playing such game
Bro, you're literally amazing, thanks for these! Can't say that enough
Fascinating game! Thank you!
Such an amazing game, your calculus process is really instrutive, congrats Danya
Daniel plays the Caro Kann exchange. He sacks his isolated pawn for not only the bishop pair, but also for quick development. He then uses his active pieces to hunt the queen and anything else he can find. After an initial failure to meet success he finally captures a knight. There is something to be said about making your own luck! The enthusiasm of a determined and powerful opponent is quite intimidating. Just having his pieces centrally placed makes him incredibly dangerous. The moral of this story is to never accept Greek gifts from Daniel ;) Computer would take the IQP pawn but we shouldn't. White was perhaps just too quick to take it. As Finegold would say; He needs more prophylaxis!
37:16 youre the best teacher honestly, anyone else would have snapped if a random guy on the internet phrase a question like that
What a game. Amazing video.
This was a great watch. will return to this. Yahooey!
Absolutely amazing content. Such an interesting game!
Incredible game and analysis. The fact that this content is free is just awesome, thank you Danya so much for making it and teaching us chess!
Incredible, i was certain that Qxc3 was winning and i was so glad to see you mention and refute it.
Your insane calculation skills encourage me to keep learning.
Fantastic game and analysis!
I want to thank you for all this content so helpful for my understanding of chess I love it continue like that you are the best!
One of my favorite speedrun games! Incredible game.
Daniel is great at explaining!!
Amazing set of tactics and candidate-move explanations
this calculation was deep. deeper than sea
Dude. This was an insane game for 2k rating.
I'm a french player and i would like to congrate yourself for your videos and the way you transmit your chess vision. Thanks a lot !
What an incredible game!!!
Damn girl, another instructive Danya vid. Yes please!!!!
Truly an amazing game. As you said, one of the most richest games we've ever seen in the speed run. The amount of variations and complexity in the middle game was abounding, even myself finding it hard calculate all of them. I look forward to seeing more of these type of games again in the future!
Great game, I play the Caro-Kann as well so the opening theory section was very helpful. I had also briefly seen Bd6 to maybe try to trap the queen but figured that both adjacent light-square diagonals were open and that would never happen. Interesting how the mind works like that.
I really appreciate taking a moment to remind viewers not to spend so much time looking at two almost equivalent moves trying to figure out which is better. I'm only 1700-1800 but I still often find myself low on time because when I felt like I was ahead, I worried about find that 'one' crushing blow, and end up in endgames that I just don't have the time when I need it. Great instruction, sir.
Been there, done that!
Yes another Caro!! Thank you sensei Danya
the best episode!
Fantastic game, i am also a Caro player so especially enjoyed it also because of that and the complexity of this position is really nicely explained here. Great video
Great game!
Throughly enjoyed this one!
Very good verbal skills while he is playing.. Earned a sub
What an amazing episode
Top tier content
These always come out when I need to go to sleep, but I always stay up to watch them😅
nah we are totally ok with your videos each over two hours. they are packed with content and a pleasure to watch.
I must be lucky, I love to play that way against the Caro! Very insightful, thank you Danya!
I saw the queen trap idea in 17:50 before Danya and I thought I must be stupid and missing something because he didnt mention it for 2 minutes lol
I saw it quite early too but ditched it cause I didnt see any follow up after b4.
I think it was pretty easy to spot if you're fixated on chasing the queen around, but it seems like displacing the queen was a secondary motive for Danya so he analyzed other moves first.
Definitely one of the best, if not the best game of the speedrun so far, kudos to the opponent for defending so well against Danya's deadly bishop pair!
Amazing game! Kudos to your opponent for playing so well too
Intriguing game! 👍👏
Awesome game
Superb in-depth analysis, from a rapid game no less. Why didn't I notice this channel sooner?
Best speed run vid
This was an inspiring game
Wow what a phenomenal game!
Daniel you are an amazing teacher
I refresh my feed for these speedrun videos around this time of night
This game is awesome. Thank you Sir for teaching us.
FINALLY!! MORE CARO!
I can't believe i watched the whole thing. It's amazing.
Very interesting. I've played a similar classical game in the same h3 variation. I didn't know any theory but also played e5! But did not play as dynamically afterwards. I slowly built up a kingside attack, but I will have to remember the idea of sacrificing the pawn for open lines and initiative with the two bishops.
25:27 is exactly how I look…. After i blunder my queen.
Great content as always Daniel.
Thanks!
what a nice game!
That was intense, i've been watching Danya's speedruns for a while, but I kept refraining from watching these higher rated videos cuz i'm barely holding my ground in the 1000-1100 range, but damn this is beautiful, it's also, to my surprise, plenty instructive despite my level being so low in comparison
25:19 “Gosh it’s so hard”
That’s how I feel about life 🤷♂️
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID
amazing
I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that Danya is *the* most liked and respected content creator by their followers, truly perfected an entire gender on UA-cam, nobody has a single thing to complain about, this man must be protected at all cost
Amazing game
That was fun
