I desperately want to be someone who can keep plants alive, so I'm giving this plant a go. Very excited to try propagating it too, as having some backups makes me feel less stress about the possibility of losing the initial plant. Thanks so much for this helpful video!
I love how easily you explained every step. I gifted myself one of these this mother's day. I had looked for it for months and found it at an art festival. Was a bit pricey but so worth it. Now I learned how to propagate properly so I can gift to my mom & friends. Thank you
I know im randomly asking but does anybody know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the login password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
Very useful vid and clear instruction. I was wondering why a seller on eBay was selling one leaf unrooted. Now I understand I can cut it in half or stick it in water. Thank you 👍
Such a cool plant. I love watermelon and am tempted to take a slice from your melon plant. Lol, truly loving your uploads. Keep up the good work, plants looking absolutely great as per usual. Hello birdies
This was very helpful! One question though - it sounds like water propagation is slower than soil propagation for this plant? Has that been generally true in your experience?
Wow, the fact that cutting a leaf in 2 and putting it in soil makes a new plant is mind-boggling :D For the soil mix: do you measure the 60/30/10 in volume or in actual weight? Great video! (:
I bought this plant from the local nursery here in the Netherlands. They are not looking that good and I thought I could save them. After trying more than a month giving him the best treatment it still doesn't look good so I decided to propagate him from some of the healthy leaves with following your instructions. Let's see what will happen. Hopefully, I could still save him.
Love this video...How did I not see this!!! lol. I wanted to propagate my watermelon peperomia for a friend, so, I hoped on and typed it in YT...You were the first one that came up!!! hahaha:) Thank you Hannah for this video, doing this today, and I will keep you posted how mine do!! Thank you for sharing:)) Emily
Thank u for ur great simple step by step for idiots such as me (as I'm new to all indoor houseplants and gardening in general) and being from UK as well it's a great help so I can follow ur plant rotations from indoor to outdoor all year round. Cheers. Btw where can I buy that SHARP knife uve got ? From a pharmacy? As I said I'm totally new to all these plant tingz ;)
The very useful video, thank you for sharing. Would you please do a video in the future when you will report your Calathea plants, i would like to know what kind of soil you use for those plants.
Hi I have a question. I live in the Philippines and the weather here is humid but we use AC at night. Will it affect the growth of my watermelon Peperomia because of the AC? Thanks
Sorry I don’t even have these plants anymore. This video plus quite old now. Check out my more recent videos to see my current collection and propagations etc 🌿💚
How did you pot the already rooted leaf with the little leaves? I have a few and im afraid of putting it under the ground that the small leaves will break and die.
I saw that the half with the petiole was planted with the slicing area in the soil, and not the other side where you cut the petiole. Isn't it planted upside-down? Did it root like the second half?
Would coco peat work with lots of perlite ? dries out weekly for my pothos cuttings which is in clay pots, there only 2 weeks of fertelizer in it to, usually combine it with slow release fertelizer which works really well for my pilea, not sure if it would work for these watermelon plants, if put a few cuttings with stem in vermiculite and water, its bassicly tiny pebles of clay like big grains of sandy clay, which really good for rooting things cos it also holds temperature well besides water.
Do you know if these two methods are applicable for Peperomia Polybotrya Raindrop? I would like to propagate my Peperomia Raindrop if it's possible. Also, will it grow in sphagnum moss media? Thanks
I have a watermelon peperomia but the leaves are smaller. I was so excited when I got it two weeks ago. Now it's limp and I'm afraid, I've killed it? Is there any chance I could save it?
How often do you moist or water the soil during propagation period? I'm doing propagation started last night. Is it okay of I put the leaf on a plastic cup filled with soil mix but no drainage?
Ivan Jo how much and often will depend on your home environment. I usually water once a week. You will need drainage or the leaf could end up rotting 🌿💚
Hi, my peperomia watermelon leaves are droopy, i think i watered it wrong. I tried both regular and bottom watering, but it still droopy. I stop water them for 2 weeks but nothing’s change. Any suggestion what to do? Thank you!
I tried stem propagating like you showed on your video and after 2 days, the stem started to curl up and when I moved the container, it broke off :( any tips for my failed water propagating? I just hurried up and cut off the leaves and stuck them in soil like how you did on your video.
Great video but which potting mix package you are using please show us the package on your video, we will learn more thank you and bless you lots of love form London
I think I got John Innes compost from my local garden centre, the perlite was from Amazon but I don't think it was branded. I don't really buy certain brands, whatever is available at the time :-)
Frost Flower If you habe enough space, why not? But wouldnt it be nicer to have a second plant? It will grow more than one shoot. Otherwise its like you never propagated your plant, really.
My leaves keep going black I’m keeping moist but not super wet I just can’t get the leaves to take😪 how often do you spritz the propagating leaves? Thanks :)
Leah Carmody You don’t need to water too often as this plant likes dryer soil… Just keep in a very bright spot… I spritz the soil once a week currently
Thoai Anh Dinh sounds like you might be wetting them too much. I let mine dry our a bit in between waterings. How much and how often will depend on your home environment

Ngoc Tran I read somewhere that it develops brown spots if it feels too cold. Mine was right next to a window in cold temperatures so now I moved it away to a warmer spot. If this doesnt apply to your plant, then maybe it could also be a pest from what I read.
Same problem, mine developed brown spots on most of the leaves and almost everyday i had to try and save by cutting it in half and propagating (did this a week ago so not sure if its successful). I live in a tropical climate, still dont know how to avoid or stop the brown spots :(
@@TropicalPlantAddict Thank you. My leaf is growing roots now in the water - I kept it under a lamp 24 hours a day. This is such an adorable plant and my cats are not destroying it like they do some other plants.

Thanks so much for the excellent tutorial! The pepperomia with the calathea is a stunning visual combination!!
I know im randomly asking but does anybody know a method to log back into an Instagram account?

@Beau Jude instablaster :)
This video is strangely relaxing. The background music reminds me so much of The Sims :D
after looking for this peperomia for months, I finally got my own a few days ago and this was the perfect video, thank you!! :D
Thank you!! Soo helpful! You’re birds are the cutest! 🌬✨✨🤍
Great video. Thank you for sharing. Love your birds 🐦
Your plant looks so lush and full.
Thank you for the video. I have already put a leaf from my watermelon peperomia in water. Your plants are all so beautiful.

I have found adding a little plant food helps it root quicker. Nice video. Beautiful plant.
Thanks have a wonderful day
Thanks for the tips! This is such a lovely plant, I can see why you’d want to propagate it to make more! 🌱🌱🌱
Hello from the Caribbean, I must say I love your videos. This one is excellent. Thanks.
This was very helpful! One question though - it sounds like water propagation is slower than soil propagation for this plant? Has that been generally true in your experience?
Absolutely lovely plant! Very informative video. Well done! Thank you:)
Been looking for that plant for the longer and cant find it.I love it
check out the mercari app! they are some in there
Great video! Mines almost ready for planting from a leaf propagation and mines growing a baby in the water too 🍃
When did you plant from leaf prop? I've got two tiny babies from the half leaf crop, I just don't know when to pot it!
Wow, the fact that cutting a leaf in 2 and putting it in soil makes a new plant is mind-boggling :D
For the soil mix: do you measure the 60/30/10 in volume or in actual weight?
Great video! (:
Laura Herregodts the soil mix is in percentages, it’s not exact, I just bung it all together roughly in those amounts 😊🌿
@@TropicalPlantAddict Okay, thanks for answering! I will try this mix next spring, if any of my plants need repotting (:
Laura Herregodts yes, i find it fascinating that you can get a new plant from a half leaf!
Do you eventually remove the leaves that you used to propogate in soil?
That's what I need to know haha
1 year late, but the answer is Yes. Remove the leaves you used to propagate from the soil once you have healthy new growth.
how often do you spray them while they're rooting?
Thank you for this video. I Have only Peperomia Caperata, but anyway. Your plant is very beautiful and healtly. 🌿😍

Good luck on the propagation! It can take a while... try and keep in bright, warm and humid environment :-)
Tell us what happened please, im in a similar situation
Can scissors be used to cut the leaf and stem?
Such a pretty plant.
Thank you for this idea. I don't know how to propagate my watermelon.

Reza Amini it’s a Swann Morton scalpel, I’ve had mine years but you can get them online 😊🌿💚
Have you ever tried to grow them from seed? I want one something terrible and I've only been able to find it in a seed form so far.
Very helpful, thanks
You have a gift, love your birds.my daughter has a pair of love birds their cute and loud.
Thank you! I can't wait to propagate mine :)
The bottom part will produce baby too even if you put in soil upside down?
Thanks for this video. My sister gave me this plant. Now i know how to propagate for her because her plant got rotten.
Any tips on how to help me save my watermelon peperomia? Her leafs are turning brown and beginning to curl!
Very nice information
Which way is fastest? and why do leafs curl?
I just got 1 in the post with lots of leaves fallen off & curling quite a few leaves are curling Thankyou
I have one, it is my first house plant xx
Beautiful plant

Can i transfer my peperomia watermelon in soil to water?
How much water do you water your plant with? And when should they be repotted?
Can i use oscomote as fertilizer?
Mine has dropping leaves, do you knew why?
Do you water your peperomia watermelon from the bottom or top.
Can you put the leaf cutting right back into the same peperomia plant? Does it have to be in a separate pot?

How long does it take for them to take roots?
Hi can you tell me please what kind of soil to use for propagate watermelon peperomia? Thanks

@@TropicalPlantAddict I live in Vegas. They are in the window sill of an east facing window in my kitchen.
How do I grow from seeds?

Maybe rot from overwatering? It needs to dry out between waterings. =)
