    I always come back to Chris Do, it's inevitable! I'm learning so much more from him than my uni tutors - mindblowing. That's the best creative content on UA-cam.
    Thanks for the hardwork Chris, much appreciated.

    That example with the scaffolding using the Adobe programs was so relatable. Because I have been saying I want to be a better artist for a good while, but I really didn't know how to break it down or quantify it.

      This is glorious, been searching for "advantages of goal setting" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Seyrayson Startling Scheme - (do a search on google ) ? It is a smashing one of a kind product for discovering how to achieve your ultimate life goals minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend got excellent success with it.

      Great Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you thought about - Patlarny Ancient Secrets Principle (probably on Google)? It is a good one off product for maximising your life using a simple goal setting strategy without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my cousin finally got amazing results with it.

    I don‘t go for many goals anymore. Only those that I know that I truly only need to accomplish one single time like a project or event. I‘ve accomplished lots of other goals, measurable, but once I had them I kicked the habit that got me there off the wagon again and one year later I needed to set the same goal again. I focus much more on habits and processes now, they get me to my hidden secret goals on the way without the huge motivation loss when I hit it. Maybe you could make even bigger goals when you hit the last but it never worked for me, my motivation always dropped a ton.

    Hi Chris. Your video is really neat and tightly packed with all the advice I never thought I'd need them, so thank you a lot. I just have one question: "When and how to change goals?". I wondered if it's because my goals are too specific and I try to 'make a million pieces of something', predicting all the next steps and schedules for the next few days that I ended up have to move the deadlines a lot.

    I have a question, How can you feed your designers hunger of getting better as designers? I have been in the situation where I see some of the designers potential but they lack focus or that urge to become amazing. is this a posible scenario because I tried giving soft feedback, thoug feedback and I came to notice that if peoples life goal is not necessarily clear then it becomes very hard to have certainty of their work ethic. My question is, should I try by all means to keep the same people or just pass and hire new people? it´s a situation where I struggle a lot beign a new entreprenur with a very small staff.

    So then how do you find a goal that you want to pursue. I might have goals, but they insignificant goals (finish this tv show before this time so I can start this tv show. Read the rest of this book; one chapter a night. And so on). Insignificant goals don’t really get me anywhere. Some say reading does, but if it’s just for pleasure I’m thinking not. I really have no desire to read an educational book and don’t even want to set that as my goal. I don’t necessarily need more money, or want for anything (I’m not trying to saying this to make myself look like I have the perfect life. I work for a fairly low wage, just don’t want or needed anything that I don’t already have). There for, I don’t really have a reason for a goal.
    Hence my question, how do you get inspired to set a goal for something to actually better yourself?

      Well in my own life, I'm trying really hard to implement all this advice from you (and other influential leaders) every chance I get when dealing with a client or in my own daytime gig. I know that I still have a LONG way to go but I can definitely tell that my confidence has grown tremendously in the past year. It's easier to talk money or be blunt about a ridiculous schedule or persuade a certain creative direction. A lot of that has come from my 7am to 1am grind that I put in to growing as a designer, entrepreneur, and all around hustler in hopes that I also grow in to my own entity in the Futur. I KNOW that corporate is not my forever but I can honestly say that I have learned an amazing amount of knowledge in 6 years being in-house absorbing how these companies run and approach creative services. For now I plan on continuing this trek, gaining even more valuable experience, bettering my skills, and sharing as I grow. The biggest thing for me lately is learning PATIENCE. Finally realizing that it's not going to happen right away. I run a healthy life, have a healthy family, get to work on decent projects, have an ok side hustle and the bills are paid. I really feel that one day it'll just happen. Not be a Chris Do, but be my own version of a successful entrepreneur doing my own thing doing what I love to do for a nice profit outside of corporate America. And if that doesn't work for what ever reason, I know that I've done pretty good as an in-house creative leader and would have no problem going back to a corporate design job.

    since you are familiar with the concept of Steve Jobs's A Player and C Player, I want to throw you a question, I realized The Futur is primarily, specifically, almost exclusively made for C Players, what's your strategy, what's the decision you made? Are you plan to invest on the majority of C Player instead of the minority A Players? What is the plan, are you plan to work with big education platforms? are they value number more than the right people? Are you value Quantity over Quality?
    since you are familiar with A & C Player from Steve Jobs The Lost Interview, I am sure you are also aware of the concept of the difference between A to C player from the different area and different job, the idea of a C taxi driver and an A taxi driver, and a C creative designer and creative programmer to A's, are you value C player more over the A player? why are you trying to institutionalize and standardize elements from A player's surface behavior into a refined recipe or an order and ask C player to follow? they are still a C player, they are not desired to do what you told them to do because they were asked to do so, they are surely not getting the real meaning behind these recipes, C players were doing it because you asked them, A players were doing it already, you are either ignore the C player or do things to lead them, attract them, elevate them, it's an indirect process and not a proactively possible thing, you need people start to become A player from their inside, you can't use external force to transform a C player into an A player, it's not how human being work. I was not even talking about the fixed factor like the ability of your body and the quality of your brain, which can not be changed, unfortunately.
    so what you value the most, quantity or quality? you want to invest a huge amount of C player and get the same people in the end, or to elevate people, help other A players, team up with them, build an organic and solid relationship with them, then do great things with them that will truly and profoundly elevate the portfolio of you, your team, your organization? what I want to say is you should look for another Ben, or even another Chris Do; by spending your time on C player, you are losing a huge amount of value because you are paying the price of opportunity, the cost of taking the option of investing C player, resulting no valuable ingredients A player need and want, which also helps nothing to C players, you were focusing on insignificant things that have less of helpfulness for creativity, productivity, aesthetics, design sense, mindset, teamwork, as an Artist, Designer, Entrepreneur, you need best understanding on design and art, vast knowledge on everything, latest and most advanced production toolset / technique / mindset, as well as the right quality to make other A company knock your door asking you to work on the same project with them, but I find very less of content so far especially on the art / design side, all of your business episode require the fact the work is good already(almost none of your viewers has truly good work, unfortunately, it's shitty, it's the level of work produced by shitty people posting comments asking professionals to look at their portfolio on Behance), it's no point to get more players that are as good as some of your "junior staff" appeared on some earlier episodes that always requires you to do the extra work for them, don't pretend, don't lie, I saw your episode, I saw what your assignment and what your revision is, it's all A instruction over C work, they did the labor work but the design sucked, you need more A player like you, not more C player.
    In the early days, human being requires each of us to contribute our best to gather power through number, in order to survive, but now it's the age of what I called "The Age of S Player", it's not even an A, it's S, it's an age of small group of S player trump over the entire world, I don't even need to explain or argue on this, this is why we need universal wage to get rid of job-hungry people(incapable C player with no contribution to the world), build automotive factory with AI to "take all the job", this is why we encourage free creative lifestyle / work style, it's because we need to kickstart S player's work desire, create environment that S players respect and attracted by, everything is about to get more S player, they are the energy and currency of this new generation, it's your field, if you have a rich fertilized soil, every shit you crop will grow into giant size really fast.

      aLittle Pal ok. If people help to write the content our channel would improve.
      To answer your question, hiring and trying to help people are different concepts. Work with the best people you can afford. Trust them to do their job. That's what you need to do if you want the best from someone you pay money to.
      I'm coaching people at all levels. It's how I can make a difference in the world. Presumably if someone is looking for help, they'd want to hire someone above their level. Hopefully I've demonstrated that I have certain strengths and might be able to help.

    making a "too big goal" isn't "goal setting", it's not setting your goal at all, it's writing a check to feel good about it then get satisfied by how big the goal is, as well as the fact how you managed to set such a big goal, this kind of goal isn't a goal, it's a type of ego basing on a weak self because they want to feel safe, successful, needed, superior than other same level of person, not because they are indeed that way, but because they are weak, the goal is also surreal, bragging, self-servicing, unrealistic, soulless and pointless.
    a real goal is never too big, it's even possible to be too big that it gets transcended into an eternal fuel that you realized you will never see the end of the sea but your passion stay true throughout your whole lifetime, then you dived your whole life into the thing you are passionate about, spontaneously.
    the advice is mostly useless(no disrespect), especially for the first type of goal and goal setting, it's impossible to breakdown, or even to make a sense at all, this is what it is from the first place, it's fundamentally a shallow idea that you can't possibly break down or analyze, you can't make any form of sense out of an illusional thought, even the person who set the goal can't make sense out of it because it's a concept they can't grasp, this is why they set it the first place, to set a big goal they don't understand so it feels huge and meaningful, remember the point why they set their goal, it's to service themselves.
    at the other hand, the real big goal has no point to break, it has no needs to break, it also has no need to tell the person to break down their goal into pieces, the goal isn't big, the person didn't set the goal for the sake of making it big, it's the person the real big factor, when the person set the goal the way it is but it appears huge or delusional to general public, it's the person the real big one, it's not important to tell them to break down the goal to make it seems easy to tackle, also this person is fully understood what the goal really is, because it's their vision and passion, the reason big goal seems impossible to deal with is because the first type of people made it all up to satisfy themselves, so speaking what is real important, it's the pressure they get from small people judging and bullying them, fighting resources in order to survive, as well as the hard to get rare nutrient they need in order to grow strong and healthy, finally it's finding other A players, work together to fight the enormous force of luck, time, and odds, so to me the concept of goal breaking is misleading and point missing, the second type of people is already self-directing they journey to achieve their goal, they don't need you to tell them they need to make the goal seems easy and possible to do, to them it's not about hard or easy, they will do it anyway because they don't make decision basing on whether it's an easy path or not, and the goal is always possible because it's their desire and vision, they understood their passion better than everyone else, visionary is alway practical but creative, fearless and free.

      can you make your point in fewer words? i think there's a legitimate one in there, but it's too much for me to process.

    • @aLittlePal
      @aLittlePal 7 років тому +1

      basically, I think type one goal(as well as the goal setter) is worthless and it's not worth your time, but type two goal is also worthless not because it's worthless or they are worthless but because it's pointless to tell them how to do and what to do with their goals, take an example, would you tell Steve Jobs, Elon Musk(some generic extreme modern outlier type of examples) how to do and what to do with their goal and objective? Is it necessary? Are you worth it? Is it true that their dream and goal is(are) too big?
      It's not even the point to argue on this topic because it's not important, what I consider important is these types of "advice" in general is worthless, it all comes down to the self-development category, which to me is a total bs, money grabbing, and author worshipping, it also moves nothing forward practically and actually, it turns the economy into idle stage because people are masturbating all day and do nothing real, they became lazy and stupid but still felt good about themselves, Steve Jobs needs no self-development book because he is the origin of self-dev book, the author, and the speaker, all of them were ripping out and mimicking what outliers do, make lists and institutionalize their behavior in a very surface level way, create a what to do list full of the result of the causal chain, then write it down into a book, sell it, tell C players and D players this is what you should do because it's the secret of success(if there is a thing, to begin with), then it's a big hit and it contribute / progress nothing.
      First of all, I don't want to do their stuff, other outlier's craft, I have my own dream and my own goal.
      Second, I want to do it because it's what always insides me, it's the result of my lifetime, I always want to do it, I don't need others to kickstart me.
      Last, self-dev book and any kinds of related "advice" provides absolutely nothing practical to me to help me grow wiser and healthier and it does not provide knowledge, information, wisdom and basic framework, which is the infrastructure of a person, to solve my own problem, the most important thing is I am dealing with a unique new problem that it's never been done before so self-dev author could never found any existing example to begin extracting information from it, it's also the common issue of any self-dev bs, all of their work is mimicking the past, but human being always move things forward, it's the future the real challenge here, not how to be like people from the past.
      Breaking down goals into smaller pieces is what I always do, it's because I want to do what I want to do, and I want to do it to the best because I want it to be like that, in the process of problem-solving I discovered this way of working that I need to really analyze what I want to do and what I need, understand it fully so I could possibly do it, and done it greatly, everyone like me is doing it naturally, this is why I said Steve Jobs needs no one to tell him to break down his vision, he is already doing it, it's the foundation why Apple is progressive and revolutionizing, to help Steve, you need actual tech and information, the talent and the research, not to ask him mimicking behaviors people from the past does.

      @aLittlePal 7 років тому +1

      also, goal breakdown provides no context so everyone couldn't understand what the real meaning is, even tho it's great and helpful, to break down the goal for the sake of breaking it down because smaller piece is easier, or because someone else wiser and more successful than me told me to do so, is meaningless, this is my point of the C player is still the C player, they didn't change fundamentally.
      Life advice requires three things, one person's pure vision and desire, the full context, what actually happened, all of it, it's the whole package that actually changes people's mind from the inside.
      Great leaders and great outliers kickstart others, the full context of their history is literally studying the history to understand how the world works, like discovering gravity from a falling apple, seeing the uprising and down falling of every empire, discovering the underneath logic that the real way this universe work, then, what actually happened is what told us the way outliers do things differently so it influences us and elevates us, indirectly and analogously, even chemically in some cases, because people don't take direct order kindly, it's the reaction force, they reject your advice because you are telling them what to do, it's not how human being work, listening and watching outlier's history indirectly kickstarts people's willing and desire, it's not a direct order, what they want to do is what they want to do, it's organic and original, purely self-made.
