Starwars Jedi Survivor was the first game that ever made me cry! The Story was that good! Cere Junda is the G.O.A.T
Cal's Love and Appreciation for his Master was really fleshed out in this game.
Cal went through hell and this game really makes you feel for him.
I love how unlike in anime, he isnt shy around women. He goes for what he wants and makes it known. The love felt organic.
Boss fights and challenges were fun 9.5/10 game

Good review. Thorough and fair. I’m finding I’m in the minority. I love Jedi Survivor’s map. I thought it was a huge improvement. It flows so well now. As does everything else from Fallen Order. Everything now is just so smooth.

I would say the platforming is kind of difficult in certain areas, but once you figure out the timing of when the platform is about to be flat. Even I had trouble with the map in the first game and in this game. Sometimes I have to spin the map to see if I can I can jump down onto ledge or to see where the Little hole in the wall that can squeeze through

Finally beat fallen order few days ago, man what a game! Trilla was ace, the At At blow shit up scene, taking down those 2 legged at at thingys, hell! Even a brief shock face off with vader which shouldnt work but in context was perfect. Few hours into Survivor and its blown me away! Deffo a modern example of what a sequel should strive to be.
There's 5 stances. You forgot the dual wield.
I got pc running 30 fps in the more open areas and around 40-60 fps in the other areas on low with Nvidia inspector downscaling and rbar (puzzles, boss rooms). I had an rtx 2060m. The game still looks unreasonably good on low graphics.
The reason it run so bad was because of poor CPU utiliziation. I have an RX 6900 XT and even if I turned down the resolution to 480p it still couln't get over 40 FPS in certain areas like the bar or it's surrounding area.

I just beat this game. I absolutely loved it. My favorite of the year so far.
So hard to stay on top of these big games with work and everything coming out these days. I’m just now getting around to Jedi: Fallen Order & having a blast tho, already can’t wait to play this one
Pro tip, don't play most games (AAA) that launch on console games on PC at launch.
PC is usually not a top launch priority for console focused devs. It's not developers trying to be divks or lazy, it's that there isn't enough space/ time/ resources a lottery to also put a huge amount of optimization focus on the hardware that will play the game the least at launch.
Not cool, and it sucks, but that's how it usually ends up happening.
I disagree about the map being bad in survivor. Although it is still the 3D map from FO, respawn actually added colors and markers at places that players haven't discovered yet. Along with fast travel, the map is more duable than the one in FO.
Imagine if they let us use two colored sabers like anyone would expect them to lol
I still need to beat Fallen Order, so hopefully by the time I beat it, Survivor will be optimized on PC.
I played on pc using a keypad. This game is better than the first. It took me about 60 hrs to complete and during all that time I never, not once, experienced lag and I only encountered one bug (bad guy's cape was stretched across the room). It's a magnificent game. Spectacularly beautiful and characters I really cared about. It's intuitive, relatively easy to navigate. I just basically started exploring and let the game develop naturally. Top 10 all time gaming experiences (minus a sadistic developer on a couple of the force tears minigames). It breaks my heart that so many people are hating on it because it's everything they promised and more. That being said, you need a good computer. But you always need a good computer to play these types of games.
Just got the game a few days ago (PC Player). I have a high end PC (RTX 4090 and latest AMD CPU) and it worked very well. I really enjoyed the game, the map is horrible, I still didnt figure out how to read that thing :) The ending is good but for real, it's one of those rare games that the experience is so good, the ending is just the cherry on the top. the music is amazing.
It’s playable now, quite fun too.
I just started playing this game over the weekend. Its amazing. I wish they would have gone more in-depth in the inventory system and brought ship customization into it. Also hair colorization lol we have to play a souless ginger jedi haha

I just finished Jedi Survivor last night. Still have to get the completion of run, I really like the game, but I do understand why I didn’t get any nominations for game of the year. at least on PS five they’re still crazy amount of bugs in the game, it’s not as crazy as like cyberpunk or Pokémon, it’s happening a lot for a game that’s supposed to be pretty immersed
I remember you saying, they should release the games only on the next gen consoles. And just Postpone the PC port. One of my fav games this year.

I was ready to hard pass this game but the realness made me reconsider. What a great review. I picked up the first game on sale a few months back, I'll make an effort to beat that and then pick up JS on PC. Maybe it will have had some patches by then, maybe a little price reduction to really sweeten the deal. Anyway, gg tbh
Idk if you already picked up Survivor, but it just got a huge patch yesterday and the performance mode runs WAY better now

I've been playing this game and it is insanely good. I've only played post patch and the game plays smooth as butter with no bugs. Gameplay, story, everything thing is good about this game. I'm actually fine with the map, took a bit to get used to and now it's pretty easy to use.
Must not be playing on pc … the pc port is tragically bad

@@SavageGameHawk oh man that really sucks. I guess I must be lucky, I'm running 11th gen i5, 32gb DDR4, m.2 drive, rtx 3060 12gb, windows 10. Game runs smooth 60-70 fps most of the time on high with DLSS (NO ray tracing), no crashes, no bugs. Game is very good so it's sad it crashes for others 😞
@@Zilron38 yup I was bummed man my pc is a beast too … coughed up the money so I could play it on ps5 and loved it. Just wish we had a better final boss but oh well lol.

The best thing about this game is single player only, no pay to win, no payed loot boxes, no micro transactions. It’s been updated for its performance issues also. Now at the time of this post we get the best Jedi game with a mention of the force unleashed!
So what’s the situation of it now? You made it sound really good and it’s been a couple months so I’m curious if it’s been patched up.

Just started playing and I’m hook! This game is fuckin awesome
I hope they capitalize on the hype of this game and build a better third game. The ending with Bode was a bit bland and the fact that we couldn’t fully explore Tanalorr like all the other planets with collectibles, enemies, bosses or other characters to interact with was a bit disappointing. Other than that, I agree with everything TBH said on the visual and performance front being I also played it on console (PS5).
I actually understand the decision to not make Tanalorr explorable since they plan to make it a trilogy. Tanalorr will probably be the planet you start on or the very least serve the same role that Koboh does in the sequel

Been eyeing this game since it's release and feel like I finally cleared out enough of my backlog that I can play it now. Sounds really good and glad to hear they've now fixed so many of the performance issues (60fps has become a huge deal for me and my enjoyment of a game). Great review.
I just want to add too that this is a pure video game! What I mean by this is that it's not a movie disguised as a video game *cough* God of War Ragnarök *cough* . If you want a video game that has more gameplay than cutscenes then Jedi Survivor is just that.
I also played Survivor on PC with patch five, and it ran pretty much fine up until the later levels where things started to chug.

I would seeing as Survivor is basically part 2 in a planned trilogy, plus, Fallen order is fantastic in its own right and Survivor is that rare sequel that will surprise you how great it is as the 1st set the bar so high, and it,ll be much more rewarding X.

You can't say that Jedi Survivor is like Empire Strikes Back and then complain that the ending is "mid". Yeah, it doesn't end very satisfactorily because it's not meant to. There's going to be another chapter. Just like Empire Strikes Back.

I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable this game is. I hated fallen order the character movement and camera angles were atrocious. I didn’t even know this existed until I bought an Xbox about a month ago.

Whats the obsession with comparing everything with darksouls. Outside of the "whoever kills you you kill back for your "souls" thats it. Unless we want to start pitting any game with a sword hitting any enemies "soulslike". Cmon guys getting redundant and unoriginal.
Wdym “guys”, you know he’s not the one who labelled the game and chose what category it would be put in? Also, yeah, soulslike is a bad name for the genre, but this game does fit with a lot of the tropes. Difficult, melee combat, lots of bosses, level structure, checkpoint mechanic, dying, etc.
So why is every game reviewer praising this game but gets heavily trashed by players on steam etc.

This game has been nothing but a snooze fest so far. I’m like ok the 3rd planet with a good 10 hours or so in, and I just can’t help but not care. I played and beat the first one and had the same feeling. There’s nothing in this game that jumps out to me that makes me wanna stay any further

Blud said Lego Star Wars 💀 an EXACT recreation of the movies heavily limited by the Lego style and “gameplay”. It’s like minecraft, really balanced and good for younger audiences, but it doesn’t at all even compare to an actual fleshed out game with new characters, a detailed world and amazing art direction.

Oh come on, the story of Survivor is cliche, shallow, stupid and not that great. It is also very woke, making Merrin and Cere way more powerful than Cal, making him a weakling to prove that "wamen is bestest eva" bullshit, no different to all the Disney Stars Wars crap that are shitting out from Lucasfilm. I am not buying any game from Disney Star Wars until George Lucas regain control over Lucasfilm.
