I hadn't pegged Bode as "dude's gonna betray them" rather I thought "oh, random new character they're putting in the work to make likable and is motivated by a father's love? They're setting him up to be killed and and want it to be something of a gut punch when it happens" genuinely happy I didn't suspect the betrayal, let alone the reveal he was a surviving jedi, made it all the more satisfying a story for me in the end.

Bode being strong for me worked because it felt like fighting a cornered animal. Bode has sacrificed everything for his daughter’s absolute safety. When you look at his attacks hes also very scrappy and aggressive. Parrying him staggers him easily that lets you get in a few quick hits, so hes not the best at keeping his guard up and relies more on hitting hard and quickly. Paints a picture that he knew enough about being a jedi but then, like cal, had to figure out alot more on his own.

I like him as a character, but the second phase of his fight felt a little cheap to me. Especially his grab that is almost unavoidable. I had issues with the difficulty in general. Best Star Wars story since the original films in my opinion. I havent felt that sense of triumph, quality humor, and careful attention to detail in this universe I’ve loved since I was a kid. My three favorite moments in this game are:
1: The Trident ship sequence on Jedha. Amazing what a Jedi and a Nightsister can accomplish together.
2: The final fight with Dagan Gara. The sheer mastery of the Force on display was awesome, especially when he starts fighting Cal on the ceiling with his duplicates.
3: Cal using the Dark Side after Bode escapes him on Nova Garon. The ominous choir in the soundtrack really sells the hate flowing through him. It certainly helped that he felt the same as he did. I wanted Bode to stop running and face me like a man.

The one this this game did that I haven’t seen in an open world game - it STILL feels lived in & vibrant even after the main story ends! The mantis crew still have a lot to say and so do the bar patrons and enemies. I love that! It doesn’t leave me feeling empty and just aimlessly wandering the world trying to entertain myself. 9.5/10 on my new ps5 - I didn’t really run into any game breaking bugs or glitches. Maybe 1 minor glitch in a cutscene.

I had an feeling Bode wasn't 100% onside but I didn't anticipate the depth of his betrayal. I really dug his overall motivation. Doing the epilogue and get all of his echoes made me both hate him more and love him more because you can tell that at least part of him felt a bad and actually liked Cal; just not more than his need to get his daughter safe.
I loved the Jedha mining droid setpiece and seeing sort of how Merrin's powers work. After seeing Nightsister lore in Clone Wars teh scale of the ability sort of tracked. Between the CW micro-series and then the whole 7 season run, Jedi are mad powerful and I liked that we felt that power. Once we got the slow/rage power upgrade I felt as powerful as Cere during the defense of Jedha. I barely used the slow power during my playthrough and didn't realize it was supposed to be your Ult until Cal went a little dark.
I just 100%'ed all of the worlds and got all of the collectibles besides a couple of bugged ones. I haven't felt compelled to 100% a game in a long while but this game really rewarded me for it. Many of the saloon patron stories ended on a sad note, with the Empire having more of a presence on Koboh and many Patrons leaving or even just being fearful of their future. Skoova had an epic tale in the end for as silly as he is.
Some top tier Star Wars. Stoked for the next game, I hope they take the time to cap it off well and have a smoother launch from a technical standpoint.

Hearing Kata sing the lullaby had made me vulnerable, it was beautiful. May she get a trilogy of games too using the force, lightsaber, blasters, that jetpack, & dropkicks like her daddy. She can be new age Kyle Katarn 😏
Hearing the force echo made me cry.
Cal ending feelings u can feel the emotions like he wanted to cry but held it in which made me cry!
    Caught me off guard.
Playing as Cere a master & seeing how she has this combination of force rage, doublebladed force use & uppercut, with Blaster stance fusion made me incredibly proud & hype!
During the Vader fight, made me stop playing casually & get serious.
She beat the Sith out that man 😂😂😂 he limped away like "nah nobody can know how badly i lost that fight smh nuh uh aint no way she made me look like Darth Bitch" 😂😂😂😂 Then Cere had that "U motherfucker..." The same line Mace used when Anakin betrayed his trust he just earned like an hr prior.
Also with that & Cere coming to terms with her inner darkness & light she showed just how powerful u can be when u see past the dark & light side of the force & just see the force.
Beat his ass so bad gave him Star Killer ptsd 🤣🤣🤣🤣 & he aint even cannon! Had him looking over his shoulder for things that never took place 🤣
The continuity enforcer (Vader) was feeling that plot armor might not exist no more.
But can we revive Trilla & Bode they were like really cool new characters.
Bode i understood why he did what he did even tho it was wrong he didnt want the hidden path there cause that would be a reason for the empire to come looking for them eventually bringing the war to their sanctuary (queue Hikaru Utada 😏)
He wanted to just hide out & be forgotten by the galaxy & see her live a peaceful life.
Wouldn't mind a dlc showing him survive order 66 same with Trilla becoming the 2nd Sister aka the baddest & best of the Sisters.
Hopefully the next game gives us capes, robes, cloakes, more things in black & other colors. Especially if they can be worn over jackets.
The 1 cape u get it has the worst colors but also no clone armor jedi robes etc or Jaro Tapal outfit with a cape is ridiculous! We still got his lightsaber why not add his clone wars armor?
9/10 game if they patch the graphics cause they suck ass.

I enjoyed this game a lot despite the technical issues(played on PS5). Seeing high republic tech was cool, and Zee's almost automaton design looked really good. I would like to see more droids that have that style. Bringing back the separatist droids was also great. I love the "roger roger" droids. However after the huge events on Jeddah with Cordova, and Cere's death because of the Bode betrayal I kind of lost interest to some degree. Bode felt too suspicious to seriously be a traitor. So when it happened I was not surprised, but him being a former Jedi was a huge surprise. He needed more backstory in the game to explain how he ended up like that because the echoes that show up after you completed the story are not enough.
Really my biggest issue with Bode was his plan, or rather lack of one. The goal is simply to protect his daughter by going to Tanalorr. Except he has no clue what that planet is like. Is it sustainable for humans? Is it actually uninhabited? Is it even still there? He has no clue. Also Bode is a shit dad. He only cares about Kata surviving, but he does not even consider how she is going to live. There would have been no future for either of them on Tanalorr if the plan went his way. This could have been improved to some degree by going into how his wife died, but the game did not really do that. Bode also does not try that hard to talk Cal out of having the hidden path use Tanalorr. Bode's strength does not make sense either because he was seemingly not training at all in terms of using the force, and a lightsaber. Did the game explain why Cal, and Cere could not sense him besides he was a secret agent before? I may have missed that. Dagan Gera was a man out of time, and he was interesting but having somebody else as the big bad was not a bad plan. Not Bode though.
I also had the Boba Fett involvement spoiled by a UA-cam thumbnail so fuck whoever does that. It was way too early to be posting that kind of thing. I hope Respawn does make a sequel, but I have no clue where you take the story from here. I guess they have to do something with Tanalorr now that they can just go there without too much trouble. At the end of the game a star destroyer is just looming overhead on Koboh so I could see the game picking up not too far after Jedi Survivor's conclusion.

Then you kill him early, right after that they drop a major plot twist (that I kinda saw coming, never trusted Bode). But the twist happens way too late in the game in my opinion. It’s like Rangnarok where the big twist happens in the final act which strongly incentivizes you to play through the rest of to story. But unlike GOW Ragnarok, there wasn’t enough compelling story prior to said plot twist to make me feel that payoff. Instead it felt like the story was coming to an end just as it was getting really good.
It had all of the makings of a great story, with great pay offs and plot twists.. just felt like the structure and pacing needed work. Gameplay wise, I beat it on PS5 but with enduring a ton of frame drops and odd glitches during cut scenes which ruined several big moments. Level design is both great but confusing as hell at times.
They often will throw you into these random, fast-paced platform sequences where the camera obscures half of what you need to jump to, and that became frustrating many times as I had to fall and die over and over before I could tell what I’m supposed to even be jumping or grappling to at times. Difficulty is all over the place.. it goes from pretty manageable to ridiculously hard all through out. Cal feels like a glass cannon no matter how much I upgrade his skills and level through out the game.
All that said, still an enjoyable game that improves upon Fallen Order. Probably the best Star Wars content I’ve experienced in years. Really looking forward to the next game, I just wish that last third happened closer to the middle of the game/story instead of backloading the game with all of the best story content.

Bode was an awesome villain. That anger just made him strong as hell and him nearly killing his own daughter… 👏🏽👏🏽 I literally applauded and yelled thank you when Merrin and Cal had that romantic night by the fire and she kissed him. We all saw it in Fallen Order and it would’ve been a crime for them not to get together.

I actually started to like Bode, and i didnt imagine him to betray the crew. I dont know, at first i was skeptical, but then while continuing with the story and seeing the "good" chemistry between him and cal, i never saw it coming. Says a lot about how psychopathic Bode really is and how good he can "act". Also says a lot about the good writing of this game, that really was a nice plot twist, and i even immediately felt the feelings of betrayel like Cal did. But i often had this in my playthrough, that i felt the same as Cal. Betrayed, Frustrated, Angry, Compassionate, and so on. 9/10 for me.

Just finished and absolutely loved it! I think the dark side abilities were a teaser for the next game, where Cal could get some legit dark side abilities, similar to Starkiller, but then ultimately choose his “side” at the end of the trilogy.

Hey Jake! Love hearing your thoughts on Star Wars. I too am a silent enjoyer of Star Wars things.
I think this game came into its own. The first one felt like a fun side story and this one feels like it is setting the groundwork for some awesome storytelling! (Definitely Empire Strikes Back vibes)
I think in the next one we will see Kata be trained as a Jedi. And to close the trilogy the Mantis crew and maybe some others will be stranded on Tanalor (in a good way) where they can live out their lives in peace far from the empire.

I thought the end of the second Jedha mission, jumping through the green portals, was amazing, cinematic good fun, with a satisfying cooperate-to-take-down-the-big-bad moment to round it off.

Also, there was a moment in the first visit to Jedha that struck me as a dig at the sequel trilogy: Greez goes out of his way to point out that the main characters from the previous game are all together in one place; Cere just says "yes", as if to say, "of course."

Next game should take place 10-15 in the future. Cal is now training other Jedi padawans on tanalorr. Kata is starting to become a young Jedi because she most likely is in touch with the force like her father. They can kinda do something similar to Witcher 3 with two playable characters kata and cal. If cal is on a mission to rescue Kata they can explore his anger and fight with darkside because he could possibly lose his first real padawan if something were to happen to her.

I think Cere mentioned Trilla as her last word, because she herself now knew how it felt to be stricken down by Lord Vader. Instead of focusing on her own pain, she probably felt bad for Trilla one last time knowing this is what she had to go through.

My theory is that Cal PHYSICALLY got to Cere's body much later (we see the fire turn to ashes in one scene) so the start when he's by her side is when she called him through the Force. Which (in my opinion) is why she also said Trilla's name. She was looking for her two padawans through the Force.
