First thing I noticed is your beautiful sapphire and diamond ring. This was my engagement ring 30yrs ago. My princess Diana look alike ring. Ive been searching for this pattern for a while now. So happy I've found your site.
Oh! I can thank you enough!! I was looking for this pattern so I could do something nice and warm for my 70 year old Mom!! I'm sure she'll love it!! Thank you so much!
Hello, greetings from Spain! Thank you for such a beautifully explained tutorial. I look forward to making the second option and have even ordered the same wool. Best wishes🧶
Just bought my yarn for this project. One question, could you do a foundation half double crochet rather than a starting chain for the long version? Sometimes my starting chain doesn’t seem to have enough stretch.
I'm a novice crocheter, but I love your patterns! I've made a granny square blanket, a few scarves for gifts and even a simple hat. I have quite a bit of worsted weight yarn (but I love the yarn you are using). Do you think this scarf with sleeves will work with the heavier yarn? And would you recommend using a larger hook? Thanks in advance for your help.
There are a few things to consider here. If you know how to do half double crochet and understand about the back loops, front loops and 3rd loop, then the actual construction will be easy enough for you. In terms of switching the yarn, you would need to try a gauge swatch and see how the fabric feels. You will want to use a larger hook, otherwise the fabric will be too stiff. But if you use a thicker yarn, you're scarf is going to be bigger, so you're going to need to amend the number of stitches and rows to make it fit. If all of this makes sense, then I say go for it! 🙂
@@hanjancrochet3553Thanks so much, yes that's a lot to consider. But I already have so much yarn, I was hoping to put it to use without spending more money. I'm going to give it a try and if it doesn't fit me, I can give it to a person it will fit 😅. Thanks again!!
I'm going to make 2 of these for my daughters! Yarn arrives today! I have a question regarding seaming. Are you picking up only one loop from each stitch to slip stitch into, and if so, which loop? I zoomed in, but it was still hard for me to see.
Oh how exciting! You can seam them in whichever way you prefer, whether it's a crocheted or sewn seam. The only thing is to be consistent, so if you use both loops to start continue using both loops throughout.
@hanjancrochet3553 Thank you! One more question...sorry! Is there any reason one can't start with a foundation chain, using SC and HDC to start the pink version?
I love both of the patterns that you created, however I am absolutely in love with the pink version of this crochet pattern. Can you please let me know what kind of yarn you used when you crocheted your pink scarf, and if I wanted to use a worsted weight yarn would I crochet the scarf one size up, because the yarn is a little thicker. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to start this beautiful pattern. Have a wonderful day
For a heavier weight/ thicker yarn the larger the finished item will be as well as using a larger size hook so for if for example you used a worsted weight yarn and a 5 mm hook or larger (which is normally what is recommended for worsted weight yarn) if you made say a medium size it would turn out much larger than if you used a DK #3 yarn with a 4.50 mm so you would actually need to size down but you should actually do a guage swatch any time you change yarn and/or hook size to ensure your finished item will fit correctly hope this helps you
@@Scorpio_Love_11 Thank you so much. I have trouble with my hands I’m only able to work with a # 4 worsted weight yarn or a bulky #5. I love this pattern so much I think that it is Stunning and I’d like to wear it for Christmas. Thank you again for your quick response. I’m going to purchase the pattern today. I have a beautiful light pink alpaca mixed yarn in my stash that I’m going to use. Have a wonderful day.
Thank you! The pink one is made from a discontinued yarn, but both were in light or sport weight yarn! If you want to use a thicker yarn, it may well change the drape of the fabric, but it's going to be nice and warm at least. Try a gauge swatch with your yarn and see how many stitches you get in 4in/10cm. You can work out how many stitches you'll need to make it the length and width you want. This is a great pattern that you can easily customise, so you should be able to get it to fit you in the thicker yarn! 🙂
Great pattern. I Watched a video recently that omitted the single turning chain, and instead lengthened first sc of each row. Would this work on this project?
I would give it a go for a couple of rows and see what it looks like. As long as you are pulling it up to the height of the new row, I'm sure it will work fine 🙂
Hi. I really like the look of the pink one but im getting confused. Could you please explain in mor detail for just the pink one how to switch from the sleeve section to the chest section? The first row especially. Thank you
Hi, you are basically working sc into the first 47 stitches and then you start working hdc upto 47 stitches before the end, where you switch back to sc. All of the details are given in the written pattern to make it easier for you: www.hanjancrochet.com/easy-scarf-with-sleeves-crochet-pattern/
It would either be the M or the L size. I would take your measurements and see where you fit. All of the measurements are given on the blogpost: www.hanjancrochet.com/easy-scarf-with-sleeves-crochet-pattern/ 🙂
I got some questions.I want to Crochet this for my sister and I already bought your pattern. Can I make the 2nd version with a normal chain instead of fhdc?? And do you sc in the stitches of the main body after connecting the sleeves after turning around or do you just sc along the 47 stitches only, skipping the 2 slipstitches at the end?
Hi, you can definitely do a normal chain instead of fhdc, just do a row of hdc after you've done the chain. And yes you skip the slip stitches and carry on going back up the 47 stitches. You should always have 47 sts each row for that part. Hope that helps 🙂
It depends which version you are making. All of the details can be found on the blog here: www.hanjancrochet.com/easy-scarf-with-sleeves-crochet-pattern/ And this is the video for both: ua-cam.com/video/1zCt7tQ7g8E/v-deo.html 🙂
The grey one was version 2 made with lots of shorter rows. The repeating pattern is exactly the same, we just start with a smaller number of chains and make more rows and then add the sleeves on afterwards
If you're working option 2, it's the same number as the number of stitches for the main body, so 51 (69, 84). You are working into each stitch on the body as you go across. I hope that helps 🙂
@@hanjancrochet3553so sorry! I was making it much more complicated than it actually is. My superpower is adding/omitting stitches! lol finished up last night and it’s beautiful. Tagged you in instagram
It depends which size you are making. For the 3 different sizes, you will require approximately 6 (9, 12) balls of yarn for the sweater scarf. This is the Amigo DK and is approx 1110 (1550, 2175)yds, 1015 (1420, 1985)m.

7.54 on this video
Is it possible to do the horizontal version and add sleeves on last, like the vertical one?
I'm sure it would be, you would have to adjust the numbers to make this work though 🙂
How many rows in the sleeves? I’m getting confused as there isn’t a count and I’m afraid I’ll be lopsided
If you're working option 2, it's the same number as the number of stitches for the main body, so 51 (69, 84). You are working into each stitch on the body as you go across. I hope that helps 🙂
I mean rows of the ribbing?? If im slip stitching, skipping a stitch, and slip stitching. I’m having a hard time making sure I’m sinching in enough.
