In Orwell’s 1984, Room 101 is the torture room. Inside the room is the thing that is the worst thing in the world for the person to be tortured. For Winston Smith, the main character, it’s rats. When he’s about to have a cage full of rats attached to his face, he says “Do it to Julia,” Julia being his lover, and they let him go, because they’ve broken him. Also, note to Konrad-the leader of the Brotherhood is Emmanuel Goldstein, not Goldberg.😊
1:06:00 I took that scene about her repeating her name with the premise of the scenes right before. Implying that she has some kind of problems with her mind, it made it more likely to me that she is trying to remember who she is than practising a name for somebody she isn't
Your Brexit theory must never die Anthony, it's all connected! Great discussion, and lovely Christmas treat, have a great one yourselves guys and thanks for all the content this year.
When I saw it, I thought the the boy meant the people jumping overboard were listening. It seems like most people interpreted it as him warning Maura he can’t talk because they are listening. You mentioning the similarities with the sirens was interesting
Dressing gown over day clothes. OMG that triggers a flashback to winters in London. Not that they are particularly cold. Just the heating system particularly bad.
Big fan of this episode-by-episode breakdown series! Keep it up boys :) Super impressed with you guys' theorizing skills... I already finished the whole first season, next season I'll definitely watch together with you guys
I trust Konrad completely. Anthony hyped him at the start of the Dark podcast series and I questioned it. But I gave him a chance. He’s had some spectacular failures. But after his spidey sense suggested to him something about a certain familial relationship in Dark (no spoilers! 🤯), I became a true believer. He’s got skillz, and a big part of the enjoyment of this podcast is listening to him piece things together.
@@connectingthedots100 I mean that it is a leap to go from an insignificant character in Star Trek- style clothing to space is wild and my own face twisted up as he said it!! ( Though I guess he was also focused on Elliot's clothes)
Every time Konrad mentions recursive code, I hear the Tom Petty "Free Fallin''" parody song I memorized for my AP Computer Science exam in high school... 😅 "'Cause it's RE- RECURSION!"
I love the political musings on Brexit. I hope my numerous comments aren't too annoying, I figured I'd feed the algorithm instead of waiting to post one big comment later. 🥰
Hi! 27 year old here: I spent my formative years on Tumblr shipping characters and toiling over my OTP. I'm in that weird Millennial/Gen Z cusp, so hopefully that makes y'all feel a little younger. 😉
I don't think that the outfit was reminiscent of Star Trek at all. Not even TOS. The first thing that came to mind for me was a Bond villain's minion. Then the pyramid landscape automatically made me think of Dr Evil's Moon Base, Dr Evil being a parody of Bond Villains. Maybe this is all a misdirection, but Henry does have the stereotypical Bond villain lair. I wouldn't be surprised if he also has a fluffy white cat somewhere.
I think this already happened but not sure, so possible spoilesr. below. - - - What really has me intrigued is when Henry saya, that it only takes a slight shift of perspective to see the entire scope of things. I hope that is also meant for us. Bo and Jantje love puzzles and illusions, so I hope there's a mind blowing reveal that comes about with a shift of perspective that reveals the entire scope of the series.
I feel like Konrad just spoiled me with his Henry Singleton theory even though I've seen the whole season and he didn't
Really looking forward to Konrad's predictions for future seasons. I hope there is a show where he expands on theories he gets correct!

This means I now officially remember essentially nothing about this book. Perhaps time for a re-read.

Great discussion! Konrad's theories really make me appreciate the show's writing even more.

Definitely this for me too.
But there's room for interpretation, because y'know.

Love this show. You guys look like you're having fun, and Konrad has some great insight on this show 👍

Room 101 is where the people get psychologically tortured and brainwashed. Orwell is 👌🔥
What an episode! Love your discussions. And Merry Christmas James😊

oh well
What a great Christmas surprise, Anthony and Konrad! Thank you. Great episode breakdown.
I would look forward to you two color coordinating your outfits more in the future! 😝 Black & white stripes. 🙌
Merry Christmas!

Great theory, Konrad!
Happy holidays! Thanks for the Christmas edition!
Anthony, I don't know how you keep a straight face when Konrad makes predictions like *spoiler*
someone will be in space!
I think you should mark that as a spoiler. 🤔

This is what I'll miss most about 1899.
Fröhliche Weihnachten !
My name is Maura Franklin. It's October 19... 1899.
I think Tove's mother was effected by the ticking because only after it stopped did she break down over Krester, not during.

Great Christmas Day surprise. Great watch as usual. I had an Nokia N Gage, just a shame I couldn’t use it to “kill” people.
Came back here after the announcement wtf Netflix
Как они это объясняют? Знать бы истинные причины...
Shame it’s not being renewed for another series..
Netflix are making a big mistake..
I fucking hate netflix for this
1899 just got to be cancelled!! Bye bye... 😭
I think this already happened but not sure, so possible spoilesr. below.

Landon.applyGarlic(); 😂
Bartosz.jackPooooot();
