Even though I wasn't around when this channel was a thing, _Pokémon, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, and BTAS,_ are such large parts of my childhood. I can only imagine how great it was to watch them all at once in one place.
It was Dan! When I wanted to watch kids wb back in middle school or highschool I believe I had to wake up an hour early just to make sure I wasn't late to watch kidsWB since the first show on the line up was Yu-Gi-Oh. Plus it didn't help that I had to watch in between 4kidstv and kids wb as well as Avatar TLA all at once since I didn't have the means to record all the shows at once
I really need to rewatch it. I remember liking it but I was so young that I can't remember the episodes well. Too bad all the episodes are labeled as for kids and I don't want to ruin my recommendations. They'll show me actually toddler shows instead of things I like. It's already bad.
I wonder if they ever put that sow on DVD? I remember liking it, at the time, but don't have too much of a memory of it beyond the gyst about the magic token things they were hunting.
The Batman, Xiaolin Showdown and Transformers Cybertron were my childhood and Lunatics Unleashed was incredibly stupid but was also freaking awesome and you know it
@@miraclecomics Because incredibly stupid doesn't mean it can't be awesome. Look at the Michael Bay Transformers movies: not the best plots but still mindless, harmless, popcorn-eating fun.
@@nickthedreamer4434 not necessarily. Every movie or series has its flaws and possibly some moments that are stupid but that doesn’t make everyone of them in it’s entirety stupid. Transformers 1-3, Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts have flaws but are awesome movies. Transformers 4 kinda good but a bad plot and last knight is actually stupid. A few stupid movies would be Food fight, Rapsitte Street Kids, Sausage Party, and Mike Myers Cat in the Hat. However a few good movies (even with flaws) are all the Yugioh movies, the Digimon movie, The first Pokémon movie and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie.
Just FYI: The Rogue/Kitty dance at 22:24 was actually based directly on Buffy and Faith's dance scene in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. One of the show producers, Boyd Kirkland, was a big Buffy fan.
22:25 Kitty & Rogue's dance was actually directly taken from Buffy & Faith's dance in Buffy the Vampire Slayer's episode "Bad Girls" which aired on early 1999.
There was an episode of static shock where the Hawkins family goes to Africa and Virgil says on the phone with Richie that he felt a weight lifted off him because in Africa, he wasn't a Black kid - he was just "a kid". I will never forget that, and static shock deserves to be recognized as one of the all-time great superhero cartoons.
I love how unhinged Tamara was in this episode. Many of these shows, while I never grew up with them, per se, I still saw during my childhood as reruns on other networks. This has been the most relevant childrens network review to me thus far. Thank you for bringing back so many memories.
I feel like some people sleep on how good 90's animation really was and how much amazing and beautiful content we got during that time that made just living in that landscape feel like such a dream
The Zeta project was one of my favorites on Saturday morning. Zeta himself was such a loveable character. My favorite moment I can remember was when Roe told him he needed to stop and smell the flowers and he took it literal and it led to a wholesome and silly moment with him holding it over his head and explaining how his sensors for smell worked because he didn't have a nose.
I included it in my watch of "everything in the Diniverse", and it just... didn't fit in. I don't know what studio exec saw a backdoor pilot in Batman Beyond and thought "what if we go for a younger audience?" It had some serious "Faster Than the Speed of Love" vibes coming off it.
The Batman was a show that I didn't watch too much of but when I did, it was really good. That version of the Joker had a very unique design and an amazing voice. Mad respect. I might revisit it. Also, I loved Krypto the Superdog growing up. I used to stay up late watching it with my brother.
I love Static Shock so much. I actually created a superhero with electricity-based powers. When this show's premiere aired, 10-year-old me actually said out loud "This is my idea...but better!" 😂😂😂
Fun fact, mucha lucha was actually very popular in mexico, basically the show maintained itself so much in the air due to mexico audience alone, this is cuz in mexico we didn't have WB Kidz, we had cartoon network, mucha lucha also was transmitted in other channels of public tv soo it had more views
@@louisduarte8763 Nope. Both of those were done in the studio. The reason why they did this one at Doug's house is because the studio suffered massive weather damage.
The Kitty/Rogue dance moment in _X-Men: Evolution_ is actually a shot-for-shot recreation of a dance Buffy and Faith on a S3 episode of _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_ two years earlier. And I renember _The Zeta Project._ Still a favorite Kids WB show of mine.
Love it when the whole crew gets together! Also love that "Batman May Forever" joke Tamera makes at 40:15 to a burnt out Walter. No one has thought of that title!
Saturday mornings were never the same after this amazing channel left us. Some of childhood’s greatest memories were held in this 8-12 morning lineup. It will always be remembered.

Static shock was one of my favorite tv shows growing up. I was really sad when it got canceled and would love to see static have his own movie or series again. Honestly, we've had how many reboots of every other super hero but none static since his WB show.
I grew up watching KidsWB when I was young. Starting with Animaniacs, Superman, and Pokemon until the late 2000's when it seemed they didn't have as much good content as before. But watching new episodes on Saturday morning was such a treat that is now feels like a relic of the past. I guess it was nice while it lasted.
49:59 The Batman series is my personal favorite. What I loved most about it, is how it chronicles the story of Bruce's journey from lone vigilante to a hero of the world. Tom Kenny as Penguin is just perfect. Each season is open and ended with no cliffhangers. The first season is The Batman saga. The 2nd the Dark Knight saga. The 3rd, the Batgirl saga. The 4th, the Batman and Robin saga. And the 5th, the Brave and the Bold saga. And of course, you have the tv movie Batman vs Dracula.
The Batman was the first comic book related anything I ever watched and will forever hold a special place in my heart, with X men evolution followed right behind it.
Static Shock changed my life. Rubberband Man was the THAT (later becomes) hero that child me saw and thought "He's just like me". Dyslexic and loves music. Bad roots but not wanting it to define you. I'm almost 30 and he's still my hero. ❤
Static Shock did a masterful job of dissecting the concepts of heroism and villainy. Static never treats anyone he fights as irredeemable, always trying to reach to his enemies as people before subduing them.
As if called by divine intervention, Tamara perched herself on the arm of a couch, and screamed to the heavens "SCOOBY-DOO BITCH!!!" In other words, it's an incredible moment 😂
It's nice to hear you talk about Kid WB because not many people talk about them as much as they should and i think they were amazing at what they were doing when they did it
Static Shock was my literal childhood show. Im glad they havent touched it. Its crazy to see how far Phil Lamarr has come since then. He definitely deserves an appearance as a DC Hero, but the original show deserves to be left alone and to stay as absolutely iconic as it is.
@@CyberBlastoise clearly you don’t know what woke is. People have an issue when you make a show like “Proud family louder and prouder” and spend the entire show teaching kids to judge people based on how lighter they are or aren’t. Or hating a girl and making her feel like shit for being white. Or writing an entire song on how every black person who never experienced slavery deserves reparations for what? Their fucking privilege of being allowed to be anarchists? To trash businesses? Getting away with murder? static shock tackled racism by saying racists could change. Not demanding all white people should suffer.
Yeah, not gonna lie, Colleen's accent in "Road Rovers" definitely drew my attention as a kid. And that 1000-yard stare on Walter at the prospect of more Bat-May editions was *way* too real.
Fun fact: Static Shock was originally suppose to be a stand alone show and not part of the DCAU but that changed in Season 2 when they did a crossover with Batman.
I remember liking it well enough as a kid, but rewatching it on my "everything in the Diniverse" marathon, I dunno, a lot of it felt a little too "today, on a very special episode of -Dawson's Creek- -Clone High- Static Shock". It DID however do a good job of illustrating why having media that caters to different cultures is important. The day-to-day stuff did NOT resonate with me, and I can't help but feel that must be the case for the people it DID resonate with, as concerns most mainstream media.
@@ccggeniusI never really watched it becuase of the cheaper visual style, but yeah, compared to the psychology and politics of the rest of the dcau, I just can't really get into Static's more local problems. The gay guy and his dad is an interesting idea I guess, but it doesn't compare to the tragedy of Ponce.....
Honestly this one of the best episodes you’ve done in a long time. I think i was just the right age for this entire episode to just punch me right in the nostalgia feels. Also having each of you guys have a chance to give your own perspective on the various shows was super fun. Two thumbs way up.
You thought this video with the cringeworthy jokes and worse acting was epic? You must be one of those people that thinks Tamara repeating the same jokes five times is hilarious (punch & canine outrage). I'm just glad to know NC hasn't improved with age and I haven't been missing out on anything.
21:00 After making it through the 90s and Wolverine and the X-Men with Disney+, I honestly think Evolution holds up the best. The core of the X-Men to me is surviving adversity and being a hero. The 90s might hit the hero stuff better, but I think Evolution really captured the essence of growing up as an outcast. Having the younger and older group was also really good because you could occasionally have the major threats that Wolverine, Storm, and Beast got to face.
I actually didn't catch Krypto: the Superdog until it aired in syndicated reruns on boomerang, but I'm nevertheless extremely nostalgic for it. And yes, I danced when Tamara presented that clip from the show's intro, AND I'M DAMN PROUD OF IT!!!!
This was MY channel. I had a sister a year older who always chose what we watched, and always put on Nickelodeon. I had a mother who only ever bought us princess and girl toys, because we were girls. Static Shock blew my mind as a young 10 or 11-year-old. The stories tackled real issues, and it was the first show I'd ever seen where a female superhero (She-Bang) wasn't there to be a love interest or a lesser partner, but just to lead her own path. I fell in love with Batman Beyond, too. Both those shows gave me the love of superheroes I carried with me my whole life. This video was such an amazing nostalgia trip. Thank you for letting me relive my childhood!
I like that you worked in all the references to Bat May. It made perfect sense for this episode, and I don’t know if this whole thing was because there has been so much demand for additional Bat May content. It would be nice if the entire team for Channel Awesome we’re to pitch in for Bat May spinoffs covering all of these various shows in the DCAU, and maybe the other iterations of Batman.
Kids WB! The TV block were we just looking for after a hard day and to get home after school. So many great shows. Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon, even Mucha Lucha and so much more. So many memories. I miss those times
I know episodes like this can't cover everything, but I'm honestly surprised Xiaolin Showdown didn't make the cut. Maybe it's the nostalgia glasses, but I remember that show being one of the flagships for the programming block. This NC episode had me cracking up though. Thank you for a good time.
Ah, KidsWB. I watched some amazing cartoons on that channel back then. Batman, Johnny Test, Loonatics Unleashed, Xiaolin Showdown... Transformers: Cybertron.... Those cartoons gave me so much excitement and happiness when I was a kid. I'd give anything to relive one of those afterschool nights just so I could tune in and watch some of those programs again. :')
I loved Ozzy and Drix as a kid because I was always into that Bugs Life "tiny world within our world" thing. I liked seeing how different parts of the body were made into a city, and also the plot lines about a kid juxtaposed to Ozzy and Co.
Very impressive Doug & Co. Kids WB is without a doubt a hallmark in media history that holds a place in many millennial & Generation Z memories. There will be NO other program block like it. I am so glad you all covered this, keep up the amazing work!
Even though I only watched most of these shows when they reran on Cartoon Network they were some of the shows that defined my childhood. Static Shock will always be a standout for me.
I was gonna say- I loved mucha lucha but i remembered that on cartoon network. and i did watch WB on saturday mornings. sometimes i woke up so early i had to sit through the hour long appliance direct infomercial till kids WB started lol
Man, for a show called Nostalgia Critic, you sure hit right into my own nostalgia! As a kid born in 1996, I watched almost ALL of the cartoons mentioned (yes, even The Zeta Project), and while most of them are not as good as I thought they were when I was young, this recap sure made me appreciate them a little more fo whatever effort was put into them
Both because I loved Kids WB as a kid and because your gags are actually really funny and natural in this video, I think this might be my favorite video you've done on this channel in a very long time.
@@brendaspence1824 I would say Fox Box/4Kids, but unfortunately, that was passed their time. Sad because THAT was the Saturday morning block I grew up on. The Ninja Turtles (2003) and Sonic X were my main favorites to watch when I was a kid.
When he said ‘Road Rovers’ it sounded kinda familiar. Then I saw the cartoon characters from it it unlocked memories I didn’t know I had 😂 Though faint memories at first, the more you talk about it and the more footage I see the more is coming back to me.
This video was terrific! I do indeed appreciate that you all talked about Pokémon, Yugioh, X-men evolution, and a lot of other wonderful cartoons. However I was disappointed that no one mentioned The Mummy the animated series! Oh man that cartoon was so good! This was a cartoon inspired by the 90s Mummy movie with Brendan Fraiser. It was a wonderful amazing series. It truly deserves more love and attention. The important thing you need to know is that in this cartoon, the archeologist couple have a kid named Conner who gets a magical Egyptian Mancle and fights evil Egyptian villains with it! Please tell me, I’m not the only person who remembers this cartoon! Otherwise fantastic review! I hope that you all will cover Jetix someday!

From one of the other many who grew up watching shows on this network, thank you all so much for giving a tribute episode to a major part of my childhood.
This is a weird nostalgia trip for me because I watched Kids WB for a few years as a kid, but around the time I would have normally stopped watching Cartoons (14/15ish) I was responsible for babysitting my nephew after school until my sister go off work so I watched many of these shows with him as a teen/young adult.
This was the main channel my brother and I grew up with. We first watched BTAS, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Pokemon on here when we were real little. And we kept watching shows on there all the way up to 2006. Shows like X-men Evolution, Jackie Chan Adventures, Xiaolin Showdown, The Batman, Yugioh, Mucha Lucha, Legion of Superheroes, and Megaman NT Warrior were all big parts of our childhood. I have so many fond memories of Kids WB.
I think The Batman has my favorite version of Bruce Wayne, not Batman, but Bruce Wayne without the cape and cowl. I just think they did a really good job of portraying Bruce as this Elon Musk type rich playboy.
@@LordSvzklxSame! Not only is the design and voice acting killer, he’s the first iteration that isn’t a joke. There’s an episode where he competes with the Joker and Penguin to unmask Batman and he’s acknowledge as a legit rival to those heavy hitters. No need to turn him into Hush or whatever, he’s a diabolical mastermind in his own right.
I'm glad someone addressed Histeria. It was (and still is) one of my favorite cartoons from childhood. It actually made me a bit of a history buff as an adult. On another note, WHERE'S XIAOLIN SHOWDOWN?

It was. Trust me.

I loved when I learned his chant was just "evil spirits go away".
@@MrChristianDT I know they put static shock on DVD, they did put Jackie Chan adventures on DVD but it's hard to find the complete series
One more thing...
The Batman, Xiaolin Showdown and Transformers Cybertron were my childhood and Lunatics Unleashed was incredibly stupid but was also freaking awesome and you know it
Why would you say Lunatics is incredibly stupid if you also think it’s freaking awesome?!
Glad to see someone bring this up! Absolute iconic moment from Buffy
I thought of that scene the moment I saw it. Both are awesome.
22:25 Kitty & Rogue's dance was actually directly taken from Buffy & Faith's dance in Buffy the Vampire Slayer's episode "Bad Girls" which aired on early 1999.
Oh. Cool. :03
Hey that’s right: when they need to do complex animation like a dance they often do use a live action reference. Interesting.
What about his mom?
I love how unhinged Tamara was in this episode. Many of these shows, while I never grew up with them, per se, I still saw during my childhood as reruns on other networks. This has been the most relevant childrens network review to me thus far. Thank you for bringing back so many memories.
The fact that she actually made the Arthur Fist at Walter only to use it on Doug had my sides hurting 😂😂😂
@@EdwardNewgate58 I love how unhinged she was about Krypto the superdog! Granted by the time that show came out, I was too old anyway.

Unhinged is good, I think they gave her something. XD
This was a fun review. Tamara was a lot of fun, Heather was rocking that Pokemon gear, Chaplin popping up at random times, and poor Walter 😂.

I think that’s all cats in general. They really don’t give a shit.

I feel like some people sleep on how good 90's animation really was and how much amazing and beautiful content we got during that time that made just living in that landscape feel like such a dream
Most of it was still hand drawn. Now it's all unartistic CG. Everything looks like a Nintendo 64 game.
45:40 Thamara jamming to the Baby Looney Tunes theme was the cutest thing and made my day.

This is probably the first TV block video to take place in a real living room. Kids WB was great.
Didn't they do the reviews for FOX Kids and the Disney Afternoon in one of their living rooms?
@@louisduarte8763 Nope. Both of those were done in the studio. The reason why they did this one at Doug's house is because the studio suffered massive weather damage.
The Kitty/Rogue dance moment in _X-Men: Evolution_ is actually a shot-for-shot recreation of a dance Buffy and Faith on a S3 episode of _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_ two years earlier.
And I renember _The Zeta Project._ Still a favorite Kids WB show of mine.
Fox Kids and Kids WB both had great and timeless shows. Especially the superhero ones. They absolutely rocked kids in the 90's and early 2000's!
Love it when the whole crew gets together!
Also love that "Batman May Forever" joke Tamera makes at 40:15 to a burnt out Walter. No one has thought of that title!
Hearing the Nostalgia Critic saying Seto Kaiba is dreamy is something I never thought I'd wanted.

35:39 is easily one of the best moments from Nostalgia Critic ever. Tamara rules.
As if called by divine intervention, Tamara perched herself on the arm of a couch, and screamed to the heavens "SCOOBY-DOO BITCH!!!"
In other words, it's an incredible moment 😂
It's nice to hear you talk about Kid WB because not many people talk about them as much as they should and i think they were amazing at what they were doing when they did it
Static Shock was my literal childhood show. Im glad they havent touched it. Its crazy to see how far Phil Lamarr has come since then. He definitely deserves an appearance as a DC Hero, but the original show deserves to be left alone and to stay as absolutely iconic as it is.
Phil's a legend, if you didn't know, he also voiced Green Lantern in Justice League/JLU.
He did! He was John Stewart/Green Lantern!
Glad you got to talk about Ozzy & Drix.
Unfortunately a lot of dudebros would hate Static if it came out nowadays, calling it part of the "woke agenda" and so on.
Tamers is 100% right about the Joker from the Batman. Absolutely one of the freshest takes and best versions ever.
I liked the cross over with DCAU. Glad that happened.
@@ccggeniusI never really watched it becuase of the cheaper visual style, but yeah, compared to the psychology and politics of the rest of the dcau, I just can't really get into Static's more local problems. Honestly this one of the best episodes you’ve done in a long time. I think i was just the right age for this entire episode to just punch me right in the nostalgia feels. Also having each of you guys have a chance to give your own perspective on the various shows was super fun. Two thumbs way up.
When Doug, Tamara, Malcolm, Heather and Walter team up for a review, you know it's gonna be epic.
You thought this video with the cringeworthy jokes and worse acting was epic? You must be one of those people that thinks Tamara repeating the same jokes five times is hilarious (punch & canine outrage).
I'm just glad to know NC hasn't improved with age and I haven't been missing out on anything.
17:55 "You need medicine. THIS IS MY MEDICINE" I laughed so hard damn near fell out of my chair
I'm so glad The Batman is finally getting more attention, some of the best villain iterations we've gotten
