I’ve mentioned before I harvested my 2024 black bear with my BCX. Completely pass through broadside @ a good 75 yards. Really impressed with the overall shooting once the scope got dialed in. But the strings and cables seemed to get rough quick. Recommended to wax every 5-10 shots. So I definitely would keep an eye on that. Hopefully I can get that figured out with them.
    Awesome video and safe hunting

The facts that these still don't have a crank decocking option is beyond ridiculous. That would be a huge selling point in my eyes.

Maybe try a head hunter arrow with the predator nockturnal lighted nocks! I have used several lighted knocks and the predators are really sound and I feel they might work better than other nocks.

looking into getting a crossbow, never really deer hunt mostly into waterfowl but looking to start deer hunting more. most of the wmas near me are open for three weekends at most for rifle and primitive, but all season for archery. would the hyperraptor /bcx hyperraptor be a good choice to start?

In my opinion and take it as that please, the BCX IS VERY COOL! Looks Awesome! Shoots Awesome! I love it, but I would lean towards a different one for your first Crossbow. I would lean more towards the Whitetail Hunter STR or even one like the xp370. Now that may seem odd coming from someone who really likes the BCX, but with the BCX you have little things that make it a more advanced bow. You have different bolts that mean a more expensive target is needed. You have more power which is good but can also be a tad overwhelming at times. You have a sled cocker which sticks and can be a tad scary to get out if you are not used to it as well. Now if you want a extra nice one to start then go ahead and get it, but I actually really like the sub 400 bows for new crossbow users. I have helped a lot of people start shooting and they all feel very comfortable with sub 400 with headhunter bolts. Again its just my opinion, but everything is simpler at sub 400 speeds and usually cheaper. Barnett has great solid bows that are sub 400. my 7 year old game crusher is 340fps and it killed two deer this year no problem. Ultimately the choice is yours. You can have lots of speed and cool features that might make you nervous at times or medium speed and rock solid reliability .

Keep using the speed ring. It’s an adjustment but in the end you’ll love it.
Hey the good news first. Got my HR 410 back. It shot lights out. The repair order said new upgraded cams. Look like the BCX cams.
Now the bad news…at shot 10 or 12 I switched to a Black Eagle Extreme with a lighted nock. One shot & the string broke.
I’ve been calling leaving messages & sending emails & getting no response. I need 2 strings. The rut is on here & I can’t use my bow. Plus Barnett does not respond. Any chance you could help through your contact?

@@fernfieldfarmsHomestead I just filed another warranty claim with Barnett. I was going to have my dealer replace the string that broke after 10 to 12 shots, but I noticed on these brand new cams and you may want to look at your cams on your BCX because it appears to be the same cams, Where the cables loop through the cams, they are severely damaged, and the cables are already beginning to shred.

A lot of people don't think about this with crossbows but there could also be a timing issue with the cams that you wouldn't normally notice at 20 yards due to the speed but will show up the further you go back and 30 you might show a little 40 is gonna be fairly noticable and 50 you will definitely notice it. If it's a compound bow they CAN AND DO have timing issues right out of the box. So just something to think about.

Lumenock GTC illuminated nock works perfect on the standard OD arrow. Only advisement for the Head Hunters is you need to glue in the glo stick on the inner nock stem with super glue. Do not glue the outer stem. Just one drop of glue where the glow stick inserts into the nock. Very easy fix. Remove the half-moon nock and install the Lumenock GTC nock. Let the glue dry. You won't regret it. Good luck!

Try the standard hyprflight NON illuminated knock against the illuminated knock. I suspect the illuminated knock is causing it to not fly straight. I quit using them. Following your series closely. Great information. I’m having a different experience with the standard knock than you mentioned. It seemed to me that the illuminated knock clamped on to the serving much tighter than the standard knock.

When you have a speed ring scope don't just start with what the bow says is it's rated speed. Get your bows speed with a chronograph and get it actual FPS average (I recommend no less than 5 shots). Then set the speed ring to the average speed you ended up with. From there you sight in with the line it states to use at 20 yards (some are top line some are 2nd line some are even the 3rd line though that's rare) and your lines should correspond with the subsequent yardages after that. You MAY need to make some minor adjustments to the speed ring no more then 3 to 5 FPS with way but most of the time you don't need to to do that

Try pulling the crossbow into your shoulder a little tighter. That's what ive found that helps me not jerk so much. And it will make the crossbow more stable when it fires. They say crossbows dont kick but they do a little bit. 😂

Calling arrows bolts I don't really understand why. Try some arrow lube. Might help might not. I have the same issues with 4mm arrows from my compound bows. It annoys me because I like the skinny arrows. But they are a pain in the butt.

There is a trick to using a speed ring scope. Focus on elevation. windage issues is usually shooter or the arrows. You can correct that with your windage turret. Here is a quick trick to make sure your speed scope elevation works out to 60-70 yards. Key step is sighting in at 20. You have already done that. Focus on elevation going forward.
    1. Go out to 40 yards. Pick a POA at the top of the target and shoot using your 20 yard reticle at that POA. Your arrow should drop about 11". Do NOT remove the arrow from the target!!!
    2. Next do not cock your xbow. Aim using your 20 yard reticle at your ORGINAL POA at 40 yards and hold Xbow on that position. As you hold your 20 reticle at that original POA turn the speed dial ring to move your 40 yard reticle to the elevation of your arrow in the target. It's that simple. You should be very close going forward..
    3. Now shoot at 40 yards using your 40 yard reticle. If you hit high turn the speed dial up until your elevation matches at 40 yards. If you hit low turn the speed dial ring down until your arrow is impacting at the correct elevation at 40 yards. It's that simple. Your elevation should be accurate from 30-70. Deal with windage anytime but focus on elevation. Note: Very few speed scopes are accurate out to 100 yards. 60-70 yards is usually their limits. Hope this helps. Not saying the Barnett scope can't shoot further. but most do not.
    4. Next level performance: if your arrows are missing right and left they may requir nock tuning. Also, repeated shooting arrows will lose its spine and POI will open up after 10-20 shots for that particular arrow. So this becomes an arrow issue. For more information contact me at Crossbow Nation and I can help you out.
Looking at your bow string your servings are already opening up. It will degrade signficantly going forward if you continue to use capture nocks. Using half moon nocks your bowstring will not separate. Good luck!
