This is probably the only archery and hunting guy on YT that gives advice and reviews that you can actually trust. He's self made, and an absolute solid hunter.
You don’t see long, in depth, instructional videos like this. These little tips that don’t get told to the average archer can save someone’s entire season. This is awesome!
As a bowhunter and Target archer entering the pro ASA scene, i gotta say I thoroughly appreciated this video. You definitely touched on tips and tricks not many people share, if any. This is some truly great, in-depth content. Youre helping 1000's of archer be their best version of themselves. Keep it up Bro!
#23 spectra, the outer jacket of the d loop is made of UHMWPE, the same material used for hybrid ceramic bulletproof armor plates. That shit is indestructible
Bro not a single person doing these bow setup vids are remotely close to as in depth and detailed as what urs are. I get excited when i see u post setup and tuning vids. Id be damn willing to drive to Iowa from Oklahoma to ur shop or house or wherever u have ur bow settin up place at just to have u help me do the same thing to mine. Just got my first hybrid cam bow a couple wks ago and boy let me tell u for a wanna be bow tech/ i got a LOOOOONG ways to go. Thank u for showin ur tricks and secrets of setup.
This is the type of work I was taught at 9 years old and have followed for 44 years… finished product… raw shaft at 30ty yards with both shafts… same with recurves which are easier. Good video and good info.
People have their opinions but I feel like the Bowmar’s are great people. The content is amazing and extremely informative. This is in a whole different class than most archery content creators. And we’re not getting charged for it.
Awesome video. A whole bunch of people do bow build videos but don’t go into the depths that you just went into. The whole moving of the d loop to find the best aiming point is my favorite tip and something I will start doing after season.
Thank you for taking the time to always help the average archer to be the best he/she can be with their archery setups... Your videos really do help and it's the little things that make the huge gains! Keep doing what you do!
Saw the length of the video and went “I’m gonna have to save this one for another time”. Just sat through with my own bow and worked on the same adjustments, while walking through the video: Man, this is some good stuff. Your depth of knowledge is incredible and this video has already helped me so much as a beginner archer and hopefully one day; hunter.
josh do a video on arrow tuneing, whats your best way, paper tuning, bareshaft tuning what do you prefer for tuning arrows to the bow.. would like to see a in depth video on that, thanks
Thank you for taking the time to teach us! I enjoyed learning from you. You have a passion for it. I would be interested in seeing more video like this for sure. -Form video -Basic archery specific video on home workouts we can do for keeping shoulders healthy and increasing draw weight\ maintaining what we have. -Backyard shooting with question answers type video be cool. -Anchor position\ peep height for long range shooting.
Out of all the videos I’ve watched on stuff like this….this one is exactly what I needed. This video will be my text book from now on. Thanks for the awesome video!!
PLEASE DO MORE BOW SETUP VIDEOS AND TIPS/TRICKS YOU HAVE LEARNED ALONG THE WAY! LEGIT ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS IVE WATCHED ON BOW SETUPS AND IN DEPTH TUNING! GREAT CONTENT JOSH AND HUGE HELP FOR ME WHO IS JUST STARTING OUT TINKERING WITH MY OWN BOWS INSTEAD OF TRUSTING A BOW SHOP (HARD TO FIND A GOOD ONE IN MY AREA ANYMORE). WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME VIDEOS ON ARCHERY FORM AND COMMON MISTAKES ARCHERS MAKE WHEN LONG RANGE SHOOTING.
Great video, my friend! You've shown us little secrets of great masters, all the tricks and tips you gathered over the years. Such an unselfish act by you! That's why this video is priceless! Please make an in-depth video for paper tuning. Also, consider a few tips for archers and hunters with a low budget on what tools are a must to be in the higher price range which aren't, etc.
Love this content and definitely would love to see more of your archery insight! For me, I am just as obsessed with perfecting my archery craft as I am sitting in a tree.
Do the target panic video. This video is extremely helpful as I just bought a new bow that I plan to set up/ tune and whatnot myself and I am still fairly new to setting up bows, only have done 3-4
THANK YOU! just bought a bow press and am setting up a work bench in my garage. my local sports shop stupidly shut down the archery dept. forcing my to learn which ultimately is going to be a good thing. i'll use this video for reference many times.
Incredible amount of information here. Plan on doing my first build and this is exactly what I was looking for. Please do a target panic video. That is part of what has pushed me to do my own build.
I’ve been setting up my bows for a long time now and do pretty much all of these steps…one thing I wasn’t doing was checking how the bow holds BEFORE tying the nocking points. My bow went from holding well to holding phenomenal by moving my loop up maybe an eighth of an inch. That small difference made a huge improvement on holding steady, no BS. I will forever be testing the hold before I tune everything from now on.
Absolutely love it!!! The more detailed the better!! Also love Mark from Fisherman’s. He’s helped me set up my Hoyt and showed me a couple of things you went over in this video. Great content!! Thanks so much!!

Very nice overall video, I wish all bow shops did these steps. I also bare shaft tune my rest to 20 yards and often have to move cam spacers like you mentioned. Great stuff keep it up!
Great video mate, loved it. Extremely helpful as I've only had youtube & other online info to learn from since starting in archery a year & a half back. I'm in a small out of the way country town in Australia, no archery shops or clubs anywhere near me so videos like this are very helpful. I recently got a new bow (Bear Persist) so will definitely watch again & go though each step to get the set up just right. Please make some more about anything you can think of that will help new archers. Thanks.
I set my bow up at 7 yards, fixed blade broadhead arrow a bare shaft and a fletched arrow. Last bow I set up that way with a string, I was shooting bare shafts at 70 yards. Take out all the wind ect. I used a piece of string with a bolt at the end of it , then I square and plum for the horizontal line. I always tune off the limb bolts off every bow I set up if it's possible. Great video!
Josh loved the video, really appreciate this form of video. Thank you for your time. I took notes the whole way, look forward to tinkering. And I would love more long format deep dives to what has helped you, bow tips, shooting, arrow build, stand, etc. keep up the great work

This was incredible. So in depth. Thank you so much for all you do for the community. I do a similar process but moving the d loop up and down to make the bow aim better is an amazing piece of knowledge and something i will surely incorporate. Josh, do you ever move your bareshaft tune out to 40-50 yards? I have been doing that for a couple years but have recently moved away from it and started just shooting broadheads at 100. I find the bareshaft doesnt always fly like a fixed blade broadhead. Sometimes it does but other times I will have to make some pretty decent adjustments to get my broadheads just right at 100. Have you found this to be the case?
I appreciate the tip on torque tuning I’m a 30.5 inch draw since I moved the dove tail on my Boonie sight and move my rest all the way forward it’s been money 👍👍👍
I’d love to see a video of how you reserve your center serving! That’s a point of frustration with me and I like different ways! So far Levi has the method I like best!

I found the same thing with the Hamskea epsilon launcher blades. I switched the epsilon standard launcher with a Hybrid launcher blade which is flatter. No more contact.
Great video! Please do a target panic video...I'm desperate to beat this thing. I've been following Joel Turners stuff and watched Levi's videos too, but I'm interested in your process too. Beast broad head worked great on a doe down here in Georgia for the opener. It's so sharp when it went thru her she just stood there for about 8-10 seconds before she realized she couldn't breathe. Then she crashed 20 yards away. Love that head!
I would suggest putting the peep in the string before your d loop height adjustment. If you notice how thin of a peep tuner it takes to move your timing a full 8th inch now we have to account for how much bigger that peep sight is and how that’s going to effect your draw length. Josh, thoughts on tying serving above and below the knock so when the D loop needs to be replaced the knock fitment doesn't change, vs serving only below the knock. Thanks in advance!
I always try that but I have a hard time getting the nock to not point up instead of straight. But I can get it sometimes! So it just depends on the center serving diameter.
