im not going to lie, the main thing that got me to order this doll was seeing those who got it as PR show the face. i cannot wait for frankie to arrive so i can fling that mask into the pits of hell for daring to cover up such a perfect visage
Frankie is a pretty doll, but she doesn’t seem like enough to be worth $75, she seems more fitting to be $50. (I prefer to use G1 Frankie’s correct pronouns, because I respect pronouns, so I use she/her for G1 Frankie, I don’t have an issue with others they/them for G1 Frankie, I just prefer using the pronouns that Mattel uses)
She's so awesome! Her electric green hair is perfect. The catch lights in her eyes being lightning bolts🤩. I also ADORE the sharp jacket 💚
If they released Spectra first i think people would've been more receptive of this line since it would be something new, but i believe getting Frankie and Cleo (much more bcs of Frankie) again as HC dolls made people mad since it could be the perfect opportunity to showcase other characters, also the lack of diaries and more accessories is a big let down in comparison with the 1st wave.
I love the thick black stripes in her hair on top, by her hair line. Gives a more Frankenstein look.
The dolls in this line look like superheroes to me and I love that! I'm trying to limit my doll spending so I'm waiting for Cleo!! If her midnight doll doesn't get released imma riot 😭😭
I'm right there with you. Frankie got unnecessary hate, nothing about this doll screams "playline" to me. If I weren't trying to stay on a strict budget, I would've bought the doll by now. I really love the minty green hair streaks; I don't think I've ever seen a doll with that color of hair fiber before.

I like her. I ordered her but I can see why people like her less then the Cleo and Spectra in this line. The main part I dislike is the mask but she is a really pretty Frankie and I am still surprised that she is still available and I hope her not selling as well as the previous dolls does not hurt not only future releases but the designer of this doll as well.
I love this Frankie. I lost my mind when I saw the green hair. I’ve wanted that on a Frankie forever!!!
Finally a review with love for this doll! I adore this Frankie I think they’re gorgeous I was kinda sad how hated they were!
She's truly a pretty doll but personally, I can't justify her price. The same goes for Rochelle but her design isn't cute. But she came with way more stuff than Frankie.
I honestly don't think most people hate this doll because the design is bad, I think most people including me just don't see the price reflected in the doll at all (as in I don't see my money's worth in this doll) which just means it's not really worth it and I'd rather just spend my money on something else if I'm honest. Though I very much prefer the face over the Haunt Couture one

She is so pretty, but I really wish she wasn't so expensive or came with more stuff. Also that mask is a true crime against her face. I'm hoping that maybe she will go on sale if she is in stock for long enough, though idk when that might happen.

The fact this doll is still widely available and has been for like three months at this point is hilarious to me, I’ve never seen any other MH collector doll this poorly received enough that Mattel’s not releasing the rest of the series 😭 maybe they will idk but the fact it’s taking this long is telling

I know in the promo pics people were going wild because their jumpsuit had a rip in it but that didn't actually bother me that much, they can fix that problem before they release them which I think they have
It’s soooo silly to go wild over that 😭😭 I remember people being super weird about it. To me that just seems like a thing to point out and laugh and then move on. I imagine the sample just got torn at some point and nobody noticed before publishing the photos

I really want Spectra in this trio 🤞🖤💜. There’s a lot I do like with this Frankie but I just didn’t love her enough to pay $75 plus I just can’t afford to be a completist with MH (well except I am kind of doing it for G3 but mostly because it’s not as expensive to do so 😂😉). I was bummed my Chucky doll had 2 bad spots in the hair where 2 plugs tangled together and knotted that was super disappointing since $90 plus sells out. I def tried my best to unravel the hair and get the knots as close to the ends of the hair as possible to cut to remove. 😭🤦🏻♀️ But at least I was very happy with my fang club membership Ghoulia she didn’t have any disappointments. I remember my HC Clawdeen had some quality control issues as well which def disappointed me at $75. Chucky & Tiffany was my 1st time being able to buy skullector dolls off the website- I had a terrible experience when I tried for Greta. I would say the Cleo & Deuce pack for $60 didn’t seem like worth that price to me but Draculaura Howliday doll at $42.99 I was actually happy with her like no complaints. I only bought Lagoona in reel drama and Frankie in boo-riginal creeproductions. I think my goal has been to just pick 1 doll out of the characters with multiple selections that are G1 styled 👍
It's always odd to me that collectors, who complain about scalpers, think a doll being harder to buy is a success 😂
The novelty of those G1-esque releases has worn off, I fear, unless it's about new charas making a comeback (that overpriced Rochelle no one was happy about sold out no problem).
On the topic of Monster High, would you ever consider doing a "what other doll brands clothes can they wear" type of video for G3? I remember people doing those for RH when the first series was released. I only collect MH G1 and G3, so sadly I don't know what other stuff G3 dolls could wear 😢 I hope there's something, coz their own clothes feel so cheap most of the time...
I love the doll itself and the face is beautiful but the outfit isn't it for me. If I were to get this doll I would be redressing.

I read your thumbnail wrong and thought that no, Frankie doesn’t seem to be overrated at all and then during your review I realized you wrote “overhated” 😅 I really think this G1 Frankie truly has the prettiest face and I wonder if the mask is the reason they still haven’t sold out.

I think Midnight Frankie has the prettiest face of the 3. And I love the green.
I'm definitely happy that Mattel finally made a decent quantity, but I think people are moreso laughing at the fact that this doll seems to truly just be selling poorly. If all releases actually remained in stock for a while, that would be great and I would absolutely not complain. However, the fact that it's JUST this one shows that Mattel hardly fixed anything (see: the Chucky and Tiffany fiasco lol). Also I can't wait for Spectra!! It seems they put the masquerade line on pause for now which is interesting
I know I’ve said this one literally every other doll channel, but I envy veteran MH fans who can think $75 for a new in-box doll.
I also believe we seriously need Operetta in a masquerade line! That’s just a given!

She has a beautiful face! I would totally get her if she was $50, but $75 is just too much for me to justify the price.
The doll is mostly contravercial because of A: yeah the design is really devisive to say the least. It grows on you and I'd imagine the doll looks decent irl, but it's not a $75 design for me at least. If I'm dropping that much money I really need to love it. But also B: the price. It is insultingly high. The original wave of haunt couture was $75. But alongside that we got fabric bags/bags with real chains, and a notebook that had lore on the current story, plus vaccumized metal stands and brushes. But this doll only had the doll, the stand, and the cirtificate of authenticity. Another point of contention was also that the front of the box was so boring compared to the back, and that the background looks like a solid color until you reach the bottom. But despite all this the price remained at $75 dollars, despite objectively getting less than all the other haunt couture dolls up until this point. Like I get that mattel has been taking away the accessories from skullectors while maintaining the price, but something about it feels more insulting when it's $75 per doll instead of $60.
Lastly, and this is something you wouldnt have known since you were avoiding details: in one of the stock photos if you look at frankie's leg by the back of her knee, you'll see her jumpsuit is actually torn.
All this stuff mixed together kinda left the fandom praying on this dolls downfall. To the point where I wouldnt even be surprised if she did have the normal amount made and the reason she's stayed so long is because so many people just werent interested. So yeah, I hope this helps you understand the contraversy behind this doll. I don't say this to try and get you to dislike her, I agree she has a lot of good parts- just that there was a lot of negative surrounding her release
This comment is not aimed at you but response to the controversies that you mention, which I appreciate the effort of-
I don’t see how a stock photo doll having a tear in the fabric reflects upon the quality of the actual product like.. at all. Including that as a key point really feels like people are just finding reasons to hate the doll lol. It’s silly. This isn’t the only HC doll with that problem in the stock photos iirc, it’s just because they’re using prototypes/samples rushed for photos. I do remember seeing people mention that on twitter.
I agree about the price and lack of accessories- discussed that in the video.
The design being divisive is valid but ultimately there’s a big difference between saying “well, this one’s not for me” and launching a full campaign and, as you said, “praying on the downfall” of the doll? That’s just extremely toxic and overly negative. A real person designed this doll and her name is on the doll. Critiquing the design is one thing but people have gone WAY too far.
The quantity is absolutely higher though. Willing to bet on that though we will never know. Even the most lambasted releases from Skullector (Lagoona, Cleo, Dracula) sold out in less than 30 minutes, usually under 10 minutes.
If the same people who are upset that the dolls sell out quickly are the ones that are constantly posting laughing about the doll not having sold out yet then they’re giant hypocrites lol.
I just cannot fathom why people can’t just… skip releases they don’t like lol. I have seen all of the controversy and addressed most of it directly in the video but ultimately it is like… majority unnecessary and toxic.
I think we need to keep the loud and angry critiques of the dolls towards things that are directly MATTEL related (price, budget cuts) and leave the designers and artists out of it.
If this doll was just not as popular I would never have said that they were overhated because if it TRULY was just the design not hitting with people then I wouldn’t have any grounds to stand on since that’s just an innocent opinion but the majority of posts I’ve seen about this doll are /literally/ hateful and obnoxious and that’s not even considering the Reddit and Facebook communities that I don’t frequent, Facebook being the most toxic by far in my experience.
@@xCanadensispeople seem to forget that these dolls are art and have been designed by artists who are clearly proud and excited about their work. This line is a different line within the haunt couture so i don’t understand why people would compare this frankie to the previous HC Frankie. i think runway frankie a face is gorgeous and she’s giving a mix of ghouls rule and voltageous imo. People are being way too harsh, if someone doesn’t wanna buy it they’re not forced to but to try to spoil it for others is just not it. i’ve seen people tear into this doll AND the people who bought it simply because they personally didn’t like it, make no sense.

Hello, I have to respectfully disagree that we “should leave the designers and artists out of it”. I think it’s important to let designers/artist know what we think about the doll. As a designer/artist myself it does hurt to hear negative critique, but at the end of the day, designers/artist are providing a service for paying customers. And if you’re not a designer who can handle negative criticism, than maybe the job isn’t for you. Luckily I think the designers and artist at Mattel seem equipped to handle public critique.
But yes I do agree that comments about the design can come off hateful. I think instead of saying something is ugly, people could elaborate on why they think something is ugly.

I think if they had added an accessory, I’d want it to be their pets for this line. Watzit was what made me get my 1st monster high doll so may be a little biased on wanting them to come with one of the collector dolls

The way I see my DOLL that I’m PLAYING with is that they came out as non-binary in 2022 and I’m respecting their pronouns retroactively.

I did not realize this doll was hated! I really like her (but not the price!) but if we are talking about Midnight Runway, then yes I do prefer the Cleo and Spectra! That's not to say this one is bad though. I actually think she's my fave of the 3 Frankie collector dolls so far. Her face is stunning, I love the chunkier stripes in her hair (and the bolt!) and I really like her outfit. I don't like how the mask covers her pretty face and I do think yellow or silver would have been a better choice than green personally but she still looks great! (And yes I know G3 Frankie uses they/them pronouns but as this is a G1 Frankie, I stick with she/her)

I asked someone who worked on this doll about their favourite part. They completely forgot this doll even existed, yet could clearly tell me about the first HC dolls' designs. Idk something about that along with the tear in the bodysuit in the photo and the fact Cleo's black ribbon detailing doesn't go all the way around (which Barbie collector dolls would NEVER do at that price) gives me the impression this was rushed.
Did I order her? Yes. If she's still lying around for the annual BF sale and goes for less than 50, I'll be pissed (I paid 40+ usd in tax for my Elvira dolls).
I think I would like this doll a lot more if she had a different mask, just everything about the current mask doesn’t vibe with me
I absolutely love her face but feel she isn't quite worth the price. I am not really a fan of the outfit pieces and shoes or I would have bought her at this price. I don't think she is still available because they made too many, I think she is still available because most just don't care much for her. If they did make more to test the waters, this was not a good doll to test it on as so many didn't seem to care for her. I have gone back and forth on her because I do love the face so much but I am having an issue getting past the outfit.
