Understandably there is a need for diversity on many campuses, as in prior years and now asian and white students have been the dominant demographics. But there is no race admission max, only an overall admission max. Certainly it makes sense for schools trying to diversify and alter demographics, but I don’t believe that it makes it more difficult for certain races to be accepted. If white and asian are the dominanting demographics, does that mean white kids are finding it difficult to be admitted into colleges?

In an effort to diversify, universities are accepting larger amount of African American and Hispanic students, even though that may not make up as large of a percentage of their applicants. Therefore, they have less competition and more available spots. Hope that was able to help with the confusion.

UCSD is by far the more rigorous school than UCI, and UCLA is catching up to UCB in rigor. UCLA's incoming freshmen had a 3.92 uwgpa in 2021, and UCB's had a 3.86 average. UCLA's incoming also had a much higher % of top-tier UCgpa students (4.20 to 4.40 the top possible grade), and for the boards for those who've taken it (they applied to other schools which are not test-blind), they're in a dead-heat now.

I wish I applied to more schools and on time. I think I got really discouraged by my crappy guidance counselor, and also didn’t wanna stress my parents about paying for applications. But that was 11 years ago now…
try your best not to regret that. its better to enjoy what you have and look forward to all the things you can do. you can still experience so much of the same things in life even without going to any of those universities!

Lmao for me it’s the opposite, literally all the schools that accepted me are private and basically all the public’s applied to waitlisted me(accept uc Santa Cruz I got in) I didn’t only apply to UC’s tho 😭.

Thank you for taking your time to write down this comment. Every year hundreds of thousands of people apply 20+ schools. I do not feel shamed at all. We worked hard for it and we earned it.
I do not believe Jason here did anything wrong. He is simply doing something that we as college applicants have to do to ensure we get into college. If you look at admissions these years, its gone insane with record breaking numbers of applicants in schools across the states, meaning it just gets harder and harder if you're applying fewer schools. No student would want to have that situation where the get rejected or waitlisted from every single college they applied to, it's our worst nightmare. So what do you do? You apply more schools so that you have a better chance of guranteeing you have a college you can go to. This isn't something we do for fun but something we do so we can survive in the application process.
