@Yanis it means to block the player from shooting near the area of where the post is so that the goalkeeper can make an easy save if the player somehow still shoots on target or more importantly if you can block the shot if the player shoots
@@yanis7779 I don't get the idea of post-cover either but i think it means you have to close up the spaces on one side of the attackers. For example if this striker got the ball in the box, i would want to engage him on the left or right, so that he have less angles to strike and i will have higher possibility to block the shot.
Getting close helps to prevent shots from the attacker, but when defender is close it's easier for the attacker to dribble (or move the ball at least a little) with a feint. Guess the defender just has to decide which (shot or dribble) is the bigger threat from the attacking player and either get close to force the dribble or stay a bit further to force a shot or pass
These tips are great however I have a tip that will make any player better (no matter what position you play). Watch videos about tips for defending for example if your an attacker. It will help you look out for their tricks.
For defending , you do get pushed around quite alot and u need to be very physical. Can you help tell the areas we need to train in order to achieve this physical shape suit for defending
What I do is plyometrics mixed with weight compound excercises, Do excercises that build your core and also working on your balance will help or helped for me , I also play cb. Then when I’m working on defending on the pitch during individual practice I do cb orientated agility drills. My a big part is just recognizing patterns and applying the Knowledge you’ve learned and anticipation
Im a defender and i never knew this, i was always like im good at like covering and slide tackles but shit as 1 v 1 defending but now i know wut i’ve been doing wrong
Heu guys , i wanted to ask something Iam 17yo , iam training everyday at home individually , like some dribbling drills , ball mastery , pass , some shots Because i don't have space or even money to get a space , can these drills get me to the pro level or i have to get a pitch to get this level
Don't over-think this. Some of the greatest players in the world started with nothing but a makeshift ball. Best thing you can do is find a wall and play off of it. Could be a concrete wall, side of a building, a wood fence--anything that will bounce your ball back to you. Use tape or chalk and outline a small goal on it. Take shot after shot from different distances and angles. Rebound and shoot again and again and again, as quick as you can. Go from three touches to two touches to one touch as your skills improve. It will tire you out after a few minutes, but try to go a couple minutes a day to build your stamina. Work up to an hour a day, and bet your touch and your shot will be better than 90% of the people playing at your level.
I usually stay right in front of the goal when they get too close It always works and i have only conceded 5 goals out of 50+ shots I'm not even that good it's just too effective
@@mightyyoshiyt6772 even before they enter the box i rush and make risky tackles sometimes even if they don't shoot Yes i stay in front of them but they just shoot and hit my body and bounces out It hurts sometimes but it is what it is
I play CB and I never knew that covering the post can be so effective, thank you for the video!
What does covering the post means please ?
@Yanis it means to block the player from shooting near the area of where the post is so that the goalkeeper can make an easy save if the player somehow still shoots on target or more importantly if you can block the shot if the player shoots
@@playgotwood so if you are coming from the left post , you try to drive the attacker to this side ?
@@yanis7779 I don't get the idea of post-cover either but i think it means you have to close up the spaces on one side of the attackers. @@phamquocanh9-694 the whole idea is to block as much shooting lanes as possible and make the shooter shoot where he doesn't want eg the goalkeeper.
