I'm glad you mention at the end that "from a security point of view", switching it off is a great idea. So, being the security-conscious/paranoid person that I am, I'll keep them switched off till I need them. 🙏😊
There are a lot of qualification to his "don't turn them off" argument. If you're not using them there's zero advantage to leaving them on so even a very tiny advantage to leaving them off means you should leave them off.
@@ebinom8112 Sorry, they are still running in the background, but only used by google to keep track of where you are
@ebinom8112 oh definitely, my wifi and Bluetooth are off unless and until I need em!!!

I have an RF meter. If you value your health, stop your Bluetooth and wifi if you are not using them ;)
The radiation is not worth it. That’s why i don’t use Bluetooth watches…
Either way, you don't want the Bluetooth & WiFi always on. You know why !! 😁
Simple. If you don't need it, don't use it.
The biggest drain on your phone's battery is your mobile data antenna. Just by turning it off, I've extended my phone's battery life from a couple days to several weeks. Don't know if you can do this with iPhone but pretty much every Android phone should have this option built-in and easy to access from the pull-down.
The mobile data antenna?
"Turn off when no use". I always do that with all devices. WiFi, bluetooth, lights, fans...
Yes
@@hongquanpham9830 manually switching wifi and BT are waste of time just to gain minuscule % of battery life.
Waste of time for wifi and BT. Phone are meant to serve you and battery nowaday can charge so fast
@@apocalic waste of time and money. not all of us have infinite time and or money. some of us like to save what we can and not waste what we cannot afford.
I have a iphone 12 pro max and if I forget to turn off bluetooth overnight my battery level is significantly lower the next morning. If it's off, battery only loses a few percentage points. So, I have to disagree on the bluetooth bit, at least in my real experience.

Turning off Wi-Fi saves me ~1-2 days worth of battery. Bluetooth... pff... never used it.
TURN THEM OFF FOR SECURITY REASONS. BUT REMEMBER…unlike Android, on iPhone you can’t dive into settings and turn off WiFi and BT scanning.
Just to correct you, only if you are with de-googled android, you can have “some” confidence for bt and wifi not scanning in background.
Because, while iOs it’s obvious, apple can do what they like, with android, ALL google apps are beyond admin-permission and they can scan and be active in background without your knowledge or ability to disable. Find some serious logging app and see what is going on with your phone ALL the time no matter screen on or off ;)
Short, and informative. Another classic! Thank you Liron 😊
Appreciate you
Do we trust chatdpt to give the right answer?
In Italy the mobile connection is usually great, and very fast. Mobile plans are very cheap and come with hundreds of GB, sometimes unlimited, all under 10 Euros. So using WIFI is not really necessary and comes with safety problems. Better to stay with mobile data in you're not at home.
And don t forget the gps and autobrightnesss
BT should be off unless you need it. You don’t need another trackable network connection. Same with WiFi. Keep it off if you don’t need it.
It’s better to have your phone in LTE mode instead of 5G which needs more power too.
My sister was having issues with hers in 5G and I told her to switch it to 4G. Her issues stopped.

@@donotneed2250What were the voices saying?
@@kciwner, I don't know. They went away.
Thank you. Been telling friends this for years and they don't believe me.
The way I see it, power consumption, no matter how low, it's still power consumption. Common sense dictates that if there are features on your phone that you're not using then shut them down.
What I found a real drain is using GPS position.
What I did not not yet understood is if leaving the Geo localization option on, without actively using the GPS, impact the battery.
(but also here there might be privacy reasons to prefer to have it off)
Everyone who is responsible for there data and power keep it off.
On all of the phones I’ve owned I’ve seen a very noticeable difference in battery life when I’ve turned off WiFi while I sleep. It’s no doubt all the applications phoning home for any new info. The more apps with background internet access, the more the battery is going to drain. Turn off Wi-Fi while you sleep and you wake up with much more of your battery.
When you say wifi are you referring to actual WiFi or are you referring to phone data. Those are two very different things.
@@LironSegev Actual WiFi.
so there are two things that could be going one:
1. You have something set to backup your device only when there is wifi and you are not using your phone.
or
2. You have some app installed that is sucking up your data - this could be a legit app or malware.
Look at your data usage and the apps and that could tell you which one it is.
Great question, brilliant answer
Appreciate you being here 🔥
Thanks for the video. They are always informative. However, over the years whenever my phone BT is on the battery run down quicker than when I switch it off. Even when it's a fresh out of the box brand new phone...and I'm certain there are lots and lots folks out there that share my experience. But thanks for the tip anyway...I you always make great video.
This was an interesting video, it surely was this way some time ago but technology have come a way since then and now wifi and Bluetooth are more power efficient.
Still for security matters is better not to let your Bluetooth is you're kit using it as there are some Bluetooth exploits that can be used to get some degree of access to your mobiles.
To make my 2023 5000 mAH battery last the full day, I leave them off. It saves me a full 10%, easily.
Great answer and always love your information!
A cautionary note though depending on the circumstances.
I worked with a delivery company. I had my phone set to battery saving mode
As a results because this was the software that the dispatching company was using, I would not get any dispatches. So I had to turn the battery saving mode off in order to be able to get dispatches from the software.
So I would say about 98% right except in very rare circumstances.
Please keep up the great videos!😊😊
Good point ☝️
Thanks for clarifying and also great video. Keep up the wonderful work!😎
How about the GPS or as Android calls it, Location Sevices?
In another of your videos You told us the exact opposite ........ you said to switch off Wi-Fi scanning and Wi-Fi as well and Bluetooth as well. Because it connects all the time with other servers and gives away your personal data. So which one is it ?
If you watched the video, I said for battery saving switching it off doesn't make a difference, but from a security point of view switch it off. Same function, different reason.
It's like saying for this recipe use self rising flour but for another recipe don't. It's not conflicting.
Experienced when living in UAE. Connect to the bank via app. In the background the bluetooth was switched on, did not notice. But then soon, the battery was drained. Found this out from running scans on Android phone. Since then, always disconnected the bluebooth after done with banking app. Odd, I know.
Today's scammers are searching for your phones info. Turn off everything that is not used at the time....
You forgot Location. You also forgot about security risks having BT and WIFI enabled.
My bluetooth constantly turns itself on but I don't use it. I turn it off and it turns back on. Constant fight with intrusive google android.
But still, there are more reasons turning them OFF if not needed than keeping them ON. Power saving is just one of them.
Yup. Security too as I said
What about wifi calling. Does it drain more battery while compared to cellular network.
Now i wanna know too
Without arguing whether you're right or wrong re Bluetooth power use, our local council uses Bluetooth MAC address logging for monitoring traffic flow. They have devices built into the traffic lights, which monitor the time taken for a Bluetooth device to move between traffic lights. That this system is in use and works, tends to refute your statement about how a Bluetooth device acts, when not in pairing mode.
according to one of the reply guys in the comments here "where do you buy your tin foil hats"..
because apparently being aware of surveillance technology makes us conspiracy theorists...
perhaps it doesn't , but i don't have a need for bluetooth so i do turn it off so perhaps that makes my phone a bit more secure? considering bluetooth's history of poor security? I also don't have NFC turned on , because yea i don't use my phone for payment either. wifi is on though so ... yea i don't know.
So, you're basically saying that, if we're using Bluetooth device connection constantly, then it's better to leave the Bluetooth on. Well… DUH! If we're not using Bluetooth device constantly, then of course we're going to turn it off and save that 1%-8% battery.
I didn't watch the reason for Wifi, because the Bluetooth reason was invalid.
😂 totally didn't understand but it's ok. Big words can be difficult (that means hard)
Here are some small words: k bye 👋
I put some unused phones on airplane mode and leave it on Wi-Fi only. Sometimes if I’m low on battery and out on a camping trip, I use the Bluetooth tethering and it works well enough to load videos :)
There is enough BT and Wifi floating around me. I try to minimize where I can. Especially with devices that I hold close to my brain.
You need a tin foil hat asap
@@apocalic No, they need a lead foil hat. Fun fact: studies back inth e '90s strongly indicated that cops had experienced an increase in testicular cancer from resting handheld radar guns in their laps.
I turn off bluetooth and data connectivity because I don't want unknown access to my device. I don't care about the battery usage.
When I travel I turn off BlueTooth and Wifi for security reasons only.
I generally use my phone data plan when not at home and it is relatively cheap, so I keep wifi and Bluetooth turned off most of the time.
I have NEVER connected a Bluetooth device to my iPhone. So I guess that means that my iPhone would be constantly doing an Inquiry Scan. Therefore, I will leave Bluetooth turned off.
No thanks, I'll keep turning Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off. I'm an android user too.
Turning off is better if not needed.
Don't use blue tooth so it is permanently off for privacy reasons😮
Don't know if it helps, but I keed location off most of the time. Unless I am actively using satnav/GPS.
That's why I always buy a phone w headjack. I seldom use Bluetooth. I switch it off constantly unless I want to use it even though it consume not much power. Still it will waste you battery power not to mention it's a security threat to allowing an access point open constantly. You be surprised you have apps that switch on your Bluetooth without your permission. For wifi I'll just connect to it constantly because of messaging apps.
No phone i have ever owned (Android or iOS) has ever used this little power power when in listening mode.
Not that it matters as i out security before all else 😂
I'm on T-Mobile home internet and T-Mobile cellular. Excellent coverage where I live. At home, if phone wi-fi is turned on, it automatically switches to wi-fi calling - and the call quality sucks! Why is that?
I've turned off wi-fi and wi-fi scanning, as I have an unlimited plan for both services (no throttling) - unless I walk into a faraday cage (like a hospital) and can't get a cell signal and need "free" wi-fi.
@@kvdude7279 Call Tmobile customer service. Their technical support can walk you through the issue. Most likely a setting on your device that's not allowing you to get signal.
No need having them on if not using, thats how I see it, and I won't have on unless using tem
I always forget to turn wifi back on and burn through 50% of my data before i realise, i just leave it on all the time
No one has ever said chatgtp was all knowing.
It only knows what you teach it.
What about Location Services? That is surely going to take up a lot of battery life.
Gps uses more battery
I ALWAYS TURN OFF BCS OF TRACKING ! AND I ASURE YOU ITS NOT TRUE THAT THE BATTERY IS DRAINING FASTER. I TESTED SEVERAL TIMES AND ITS WORKED. I USE AVG 10% OF MY BATTERY DAILY, WHEN I NEED THE PHONE.
I never use bluetooth, why should I turn it on?
I don't have Wi-Fi so I don't have a need to turn it on. I only have one app I turn Location on for and then back off when I'm done using it. I also don't let apps automatically update in the background.
Bluetooth is true, but wifi is just a normal thing you’ll be using a lot. I don’t see the problem with WiFi
Security issue leaving Bluetooth on
Like I siad
I only turn wifi on to cast something
Only turn Bluetooth on if I'm using headphones
Whenever I have trouble with my phone I go to the russian embassy and they exchange it For a working model.
Terrible video! Always keep the wifi turned off when you're outside!
Tell me you didn't watch the video without telling me you didn't watch the video 😂😂😂
It's not wrong to turn off your Bluetooth if you're not using it. If you have it on if you're not using it how is it not going to drain your battery quick? 🤔 It will if you're not using it.
I don't routinely use either so they stay off unless I need wifi so yeah I leave mine off.
Just like you, I care more about privacy than saving energy on my phone. Saving energy is just a nice little fringe benefit of turning off wi-fi and BT. My phones actually stay entirely off for months at a time...that saves my sanity...which is in even shorter supply.🤣🤣🤣

Wi-Fi yes Bluetooth not really
I never use either. So they are always off anyway.
It helps a s***load. My phones last about a week by doing this. Been doing it for years.
In the olden days, it did help. Since the protocols changed, this is no longer the case (unless you still have an old phone and a depleted battery)
What smartphone can last a week with daily usage?
@@apocalic My typical use was not much. However, the charge went down; by disabling BT and WiFi, its life went to over a week. You f'n got it now?
@@apocalic I use my phone more than I used to, but I'm still rarely below 70% when I put it on the charger in the evening. In the past I'd usually be in the low 80s which means most of a week to use a full charge. For those of us that aren't heavy users BT and WiFi use a higher percentage of the total consumption. FWIW, I occasionally charge my 2012ish Motorola RAZR. Because the phone is retired the mobile data is turned off, as well as other unnecessary stuff, and the 12 year old battery takes a month to go dead.
@@apocalic for someone like you who is likely watching this on your phone and then spending 20 minutes replying to everyone just to call them conspiracy theorists (by means of asking where they purchase their tin foil hats), then yeah, you are lucky if you get 3 hours of use out of your phone... for the rest of us who are not permanently glued to our devices, the battery lasts for days and even weeks, because we have about 20 minutes per week of screen time on our phones.
