    I love how you made it mostly about Missoula and not the shop; it shows genuine love of the community that keeps the doors open. Thanks for the beautiful reminder of why Missoula is so outstanding!

    I love the river right in the middle of Missoula.There are always surfers and kayakers to watch there, plus they have new musical groups at Carras Park every Thursday evening for kids aged -1 to 120. My favorite time to be down town is very early in the morning.It is wonderful to watch Missoula awaken. Everyone greets you with a smile and a kind word even if they don't know you. The diversity & culture, old buildings, amidst the new & the MouNTainS surrounding the city; our beautiful Missoula ♥

    I only had the pleasure of living in Missoula 3 years. I would do it all over again. That was 23 years ago. I wish I had found a job there and not had to move away. It's an awesome place to live but finding professional work... that's another matter all together.

    • @hurricaneaquatics
      @hurricaneaquatics 3 роки тому

      Would like to hear more about that. That's not good.

      @@hurricaneaquatics I don't know how much Missoula might have changed since I lived there. It's been many years, I've only been back to visit a couple of times and the last time was I believe in 2004. At the time I lived there, there were hourly, low wage jobs for college students but very limited opportunities for most professional positions. If you worked in the education field, or the medical field then there was some opportunity. Other professional fields, not so much. I recall one interview I went to just before giving up and moving away, they must have interviewed over 20 people for one single position. I have never heard of so many people being interviewed for a single positions, at most 5 or 6 is the average number in my experience. Still, the 3 years I lived there were fantastic, I felt like I had lived there my whole life. Small cities don't change much over time, I imagine it is probably as fantastic a place to live today as it was when I lived there 24 years ago. I just noticed a slight typo in my original posting it should have said 23 years ago not 33. It's been a long time but not quite that long yet. :-) I've corrected it.

      @@jean-claudelol563 I really appreciate that great answer. I might have a professional opportunity there, but that worries me a lot, your answer. It sounds exactly like where I'm living now. If the job ends, you're SOL. It has always been a dream of mine to live in Montana. I'll let you know how it goes. Again, thank you and best of luck to you.

    • @jean-claudelol563
      @jean-claudelol563 3 роки тому

      @@hurricaneaquatics Whatever you decide, best of luck to you. I can't predict how it will go for you with work. But I can tell you, it's a great place to live. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are outdoor sports year around. Everything from skiing, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking to river rafting and more. There is a sport for every season in the area. It's a college town for the most part, almost everything revolves around the University of Montana. During the summers when most of the college kids are gone, it's very quite and slow.

    I only lived in Missoula for a few years as a kid. I grew up mostly in Seeley Lake, which is just north of Missoula. Our family would make weekly migrations to and from Missoula. It has so much character.

    Who are you to call people "idiots"?
    I am from Belgium and I spent a year in Missoula, MT. It has been the best experience EVER and the people out there do are very SPECIAL, they care about you, they are nice, they don't judge who you are, etc (most of them, at least). I bet you are not from Missoula to say something like that and if you do are, you are exactly the kind of person I did NOT meet in Missoula. Also, call them all hippies is.... waouw... so thoughtless and it is to reduce them all in one stupid etiquette and stereotype.
    I have been to a lot of countries and cities and I can say that Missoula is really different from the others.
    I hope people from Missoula will stay the same because I love them and miss them!

    • @jasmiine81

      Did I say that I don't like where I am from? No. And yes, again, a stereotypes "Europeans don't appreciate their home", hummm no that's not true what you are saying.

      I am thinking about going here for college. Im from Illinois and am Dominican. I am thinking about going here but i'm not sure if the people racism is a problem here. Have you experienced any racism? I looked up the schools diversity stats and only 0.6% of students are African American, about 81 students. Do you think I'd be treated well here? Thanks!

    • @ChrisJimenez2010
      @ChrisJimenez2010 9 років тому

      ***** you are definitely narrow minded.
      "I've met them all" You seem to have had bad experiences with blacks and it is quite understandable to resent blacks because all you've ever known were the 'ghetto' ones. Surely you understand that there are also many kind and easygoing blacks?
      And yes there is more to diversity than many different nationalities of white people. Many schools try to admit students in a way that is somewhat proportionate to the demographics of the US as a whole.
      Like I said, I too become frustrated with African Americans as the majority are not motivated to contribute to the world. I do understand. But your brain must be the size of an acorn if you think that all blacks are 'ghetto black trash'. Asshole.

    • @ChrisJimenez2010
      @ChrisJimenez2010 9 років тому

      ***** then you should know better than generalizing on an entire group of people, that even you are a part of. You probably should have kept that info to yourself because now you seem like more of an idiot.

    • @jasmiine81
      @jasmiine81 9 років тому +2

      Chris Jimenez I just saw the messages but during my whole year there, in Missoula, I didn't see any form of racism toward African American or Natives. I can't say that it doesn't exist there , since I didn't meet everyone but I still believe it was a perfect city to live in. People were so adorable, nice, kind, etc. And to hell, those who believes that a race means such category of person or another... People are so annoying with their stereotypes!

    Missoula, the town, is not really much different from any other place. anywhere you live will have some advantages...and disadvantages [as tildy317 is good at pointing out]. what this town is ...is home. it has always had that "home" feel to it. your house may have bad plumbing, the roof may leak, but if it is home...to you, what you do with that is up to you.

      Missoula is a great place too live!
      They have live music almost everynight downtown. Downtown is pretty small but the people are amazing and friendly. They have gyms everywhere and it is a very active community... I swear almost everyone I met does some sort of physical activity. Mostly white and it's diverse because it's a college town. They have the University of Montana and a community college. Treatment programs and lots of programs that help people. I forgot to mention the restaurants are great! During the summer there is a lot of things to do. It's a little expensive.
      Portland OR Is like Missoula but they have a different climate... mostly rains and is a little colder. But Missoula absolutely!
      Best of luck!

    Don't worry, only the bold will pack up and move here (at least from out of state), and most of those that stick around are a bit different and make it so awesome.
    From my experience, it's mostly been Montanans from more conservative areas of the state that ruin our fun.
