So funny how that guy starts off with going "Great game as in I can't identify mistakes except 2." in the chat and Drew rattled off mistake after mistake for 40 minutes straight haha :D
There is also in trading the psychology side of it. If you drop a settlement or city before a trade, it changes how people perceive you. They may see you as a threat and less likely to trade
Agreed. I’ve talked about this a lot in previous videos. There are some cases where sometimes it’s worth building to give others more clarity about what you are trying to do…but usually staying lower on the point total plays better.
Great analysis. I loved the 6,9,3 start for pink. imho ive always thought the double play is a risky strategy which usually fails in the rapidly disappearing window 😮
The echo is crazy cause ur rooms empty haha put some furniture in there Drew! commenting before watching but yea, love the vids man watched every vid since a year ago in the past month getting into catan got 40% winrate in casual in 60 or so games now
Really interesting game and such a stacked board. Your initial placements were spot on just yeah I think you maybe misunderstood the best path to get to 10. Good luck with your future games 👍🏻
Have a question. Is this range 1450-1600 just the worst ranks to play in? I came down a bit and now someone makes a bad placement to plough me unnecessarily almost every game. People refuse to negotiate at all, the only chat is negative. People aren't willing to work together to stop someone until they're extremely far ahead.. in general I'm starting to hate the game from constant toxicity. do i start a new account and try to go back up to the 1600s?
I think there’s a meta game around the toxicity which makes it worse. Optimally if someone solo blocks you you should say “solo?” Or something of the nature about how your upset to be solo blocked, this weaponized toxicity makes the game less fun, but is probably optimal for grinding ranked points. Not really sure how to fix that problem, but even people like dandy or delighted do this slightly to win
@@orendafni Yeah, people in those ranks are unpredictable. have had people block me for all sorts of bullshit. The question is, is it really just better staying silent until you reach ranks with the cooperative paradigm
ב"ה You see his starting hand, so you could know by that the resource composition which settlement was his second (in this case you also see it in chat). So no need to guess.
Lol thought the same thing. No disrespect to him but the 7ing out cuz he got too nervous and didnt drop and then checking opponent rank because he isnt getting trades he offered. Edit: Wow finishing the vid he has no idea trading wise and what his goals are for pacing
This is not true and unnecessary to be negative to someone who is putting himself out there to improve. Everyone has off games and days, and to judge someone from a single ranked game is unproductive . DK has recently become a divisional champion in one of the most competitive Catan discords in the World. Stay humble and focus on learning instead of bringing others down in the UA-cam comments.
@@danieldaugherty4054 I would love to! But as Dandy already said he doesn't just critique games willy nilly, usually its his students or big donators (could be wrong here)?

Yea this was a hard watch

@@dandydrew i do agree sometimes people just build to quickly before seeing the options available to clear your hand or leaving your hand with options
dandy i much prefer watching you play - it kind of hurts watching all of these mistakes :(
Mistakes are part of the game! Have a learning mindset no matter what you watch.

cool game, personally I would have gone to the 10 ore before the brick port
I am happy I watched this video. I am not as bad as I thought 😅
You should have known pink started with 693 because he has wood/wheat/ore in hand..

Haha! The room is all setup and ready to go. Don’t worry about future videos moving forward. ❤
Also, congratulations on your success and improvement. I love hearing about others enjoying the game and winning more. Keep going!

For transparency I really like the 10 settle to start and it sets up the path being double city, 4 quick settles and longest road for the win.
I’m absolutely loving all the videos drew but where’s the road to #1 series? Are you still going for it this season?
Patience 😏
I’m gonna get it before he does lmao

Why would being toxic be optimal? I disagree strongly. Getting rid of my bitterness when people pile up on me is one of my biggest Catan objectives.

wow, any one of these setups would be insane on most boards haha

Would you like to submit a game for review? A few keyboard warriors having a field day 😂
