This guy is just Jaw dropping Awesome! This work is pure perfection! The only thing I worry is seems a lil harsh of an angle to have the CV joints in under 500+ hp? Maybe not? But this car is better than any factory car you could buy! This thing will be around when we are all dead and gone! If they built cars this well Wow! I’m applauding this mans effort and sheer talent!

looks so sweet, and i bet it will be a lot of fun! i built a rover metro gta 16v vvc, later rebodied into a 1.1s shell, kept the 1.1s trim and badges. So it looked just like a standard basic metro, even kept the choke lead in the dash, so people thought it was very basic at a glance. I remember some clio driver having eyes like plates, when the car just walked away from him. not sure if he was going to take the piss just cause he had his lass in the car at the time. Another lad in a 1.2 corsa tried to sit up the arse, looked like he sucked on a lemon when the metro just walked away from him. So sleepers are very fun for this sort of thing.
I dig what this guy done. He had a vision and had the talent to see it come to fruition. The tig welds were legit. The fabrication and engineering is off the charts. The attention for detail is unreal. Bravo! What a work of functioning art and engineering. I'm 50 and have been in and around custom cars, resto cars, bikes of all sorts. In 31yrs of being a autobody technician and collision painter, along with countless side custom work, this Beetle is superbly done. I've always worked with my hands. I've always had a good imagination. There were seldom issues that I couldn't figure out.........you spent 2yrs and most likely 100,000hrs on your creation. Well done. God bless.
One of the best detailed videos I've settin in awhile. The VW beetle is perfect from the stance to the factory looking appearance! The work that's been done was well thought out and patience is a must for a build like this. I knew it would be a great video when I seen the transmission being modified and cut. I would love to see more videos like this with a LS swap or a EcoBoost 3.5 liter. Keep up the good work!
The roll cage does give it away a little for sure, but it was necessary. I could have contoured the rear diagonal stays but that gives up strength integrity ( they also tie into the frame horns). Of the three colors to paint the cage, blue, black or white, satin black seemed to make the bar disappear the most, which was the idea.
@@JohnReynolds661 Came here after seeing the Super Sleeper on Nicole Johnson's Detours channel and am blown away by the outstanding engineering! At 1m24s the statement about converting the transmission to a 2WD unit was masterful understatement. That could be it's own video! Nicole's interview brought out a few more details about the build including: fuel surge tank, rewelding stock wheels to accommodate the 275/50R15 rear tires, using an original intact dash, and the hidden gauges. Has the 14 degree running angle of the rear CVs caused any issues?
Fabulous work to a massively better than factory standard, I am in awe of the skills you have used to build this. Personally I would have used the earlier ‘flat screen’ super beetle as a base-because I prefer them..... What a stunning piece of custom automotive art. Well Done!!
That's a piece of art!
Better than factory made. Can't imagine dudes face when inspecting the car for technical before registering this thingy hahaha.
Probably no big deal to register its just a previously registered 70s era bug!
You went full tilt on this build. I have one question for you though: what happens when a Tesla powered VW beetle pulls up next to you at a stoplight?
The Tesla will win on takeoff but at 1/2mile the Tesla is done.
Oh, my god! How amazing! 1977 I bought my first Beetle and it was from 1967 and later I restored a beetle from 1958 but this I would never be able to do that like this man! I am speechless. Many greetings from Austria 🇦🇹🏔⛷🍺🥨🛶🌻🐺 Europe!
Nice, I almost left a bad comment, then I seen you showed what the bug would do.. Now I am impressed.. Seeing the work done was awesome, still.. Doesn't mean anything without seeing what she can do.. and that is one lightning bug, you're not putting in a jar.. Loved it 100%..
Thanks, I got a lot of flack for not having it run at the end, so I made another exact duplicate video but with it running. But You Tube keeps pushing this video so I'm stuck with it.
@@JohnReynolds661 I have seen several vid's where people made sleepers out of bug's and other typically slow moving cars, but I think what you did was the best.. You made it look so stock and "Plane Jane" I think you totally hit the mark as the best "SLEEPER" I have seen...
This is just beautifully executed. Kudos.
This should go to SEMA. PERIOD!
SEMA builds are below this guy's talent.
I’d like to know more about the transmission mod
I like to think that I am somewhat handy around vehicles but holy cow man, you take it to a new level. Your fabricating, engineering, attention to detail and finish is amazing. First car video that I did not fast forward through at all in a long time. Bravo! And beer!
I've always said with enough time and the proper equipment you can build anything. I've built project vehicles that would rival this. Hopefully this inspires a new generation of hotrodders. Currently I'm helping my son build an all electric 97 Buick le Sabre. It was my great grandfathers last car and we want it to be a badass machine. My son is really into modern electric cars but he also loves the old stuff so he's teaching me as much as I've taught him
Only way I could be more blown away is if you told me this man is a CPA or Dentist and "tinkering with car projects" is just his hobby 😳 Amazing work and imagination turned into reality via pure genius.
