GAR General slaps top of a c70 “ this bad boy fits 5 turbo lasers and a heavy laser cannon” “ what’s it used for?” “Negotiation” “You sure bout-“ “Negotiations”
You haven’t seen ships until you have seen warhammer 40k. If you don’t have a ramming option, or a appearance of single gargoyle or chapel, you’re not doing it correctly.
I remember the first time I made a Star Wars character(back when I was little), THIS was the ship I gave them. I absolutely love the C70. still one of my favorite ships in the series.
For a thousand years! My god, the Star Wars universe has some serious technological stagnation. But besides that, I’m loving the new editing style! So clean!
Alex Boehm The tech just sort of stopped about 10,000 years ago and it’s been entirely stagnant ever since. Some ships that were relevant back then are still threats on the battlefield even today, but nobody can figure out how to build them for some reason.
Bookhead714 it’s kinda that way in destiny as well. There’s lost golden age tech scattered around, like a powerful CPU or a devastating fusion rifle weapon
The IGV-55 reminds me of an AWACS aircraft with the giant saucer on top *edit* I also like the new style for showing details, it's pretty neat and looks really professional
It'd make for a big bang however it might not be very effective due to its size. Capital ships generally have lots of AA guns and the pods aren't very agile so hit chance is very high.
In the grim darkness of the 41 millennium, there is only war. Oh wait, wrong franchise. Who needs diplomacy anyways. For real though, that's some fancy smancy editing you got there.
Correction: it wasn't the Resolute that was captured, but Aayla Secura's flagship. They were trying to dock with the Resolute when the hyperdrive was damaged and activated.
This is probably my favorite capital ship in the star wars universal. Toughness, mobility, and flexibility all in one. Loved this ship design since when it first appeared on the screen in phantom menace.
You, know, at the unveiling of the Charger C70 cruiser, Padme Amidala was present. Upon witnessing the enthusiastic clapping of those around her, she said this: "So this is how diplomacy dies. With thunderous applause." JK
Interesting fact. On last graphic with crashed Consular you can see the Taim & Bak H9 dual turbolasers in upper middle section of ship. The same as mounted on CR90. This is the author's own artistic work but work very fine and make a lot of sense.
Wow, the quality of this channel keeps increasing exponentially. It's amazing to see the difference between where you started at and now. Well done MetaNerdz!
@@MetaNerdzLore i might not always comment, but I am always watching. And it's been an amazing journey so far. Who knows what greatness the futute will bring?
Thanks man that means a lot, you've been there since the days idk how people were watching lol. I'm learning the new programs so it will hopefully get easier and easier and we'll get back to the 1 a day schedule
This is kind of art imitating life, during World War I England took their luxury liners more or less out of service and retrofitted them for a variety of different purposes. One of Titanic's sisterships, the Olympic got a couple of deck guns and a dazzle camouflaged paint scheme, other liners got a lot of the same treatment while the Brittanic, another Titanic sistership, was converted into a hospital ship. You saw a bit more of the same during World War II but not as much. There is a book out there called Liners in Battledress that showed a lot of this.
This ship strikes me as an ideal vehicle to feature in a fan fiction. It is small enough to be used by a scratch crew of maybe 5 or 6 while powerful enough to be a hero ship with support but not so much that it does not need to fear military vessels like any of the Star Destroyer line. Also, with it being a retired ship from type from the clone wars era there is the possibility of crashed ones being found in near working states and in mothballs around the galaxy. It is known in the Star Wars universe that planitary authorities would often use mothballed ships bought from the navy which adds that to the possibilities as well as capturing ones being used by pirates. So many posibilities...
This is my favorite Corvette sized ship, what other ship under 180 meters had 5 DOUBLE turbolasers? Only thing I would add is one more turreted laser cannon, probably in the same placement as the rearmost turbolaser but on the ventral side, just so there's less of a blind spot for starfighter coverage
honestly, retrofit one of these with rebellion era components and this might be my ship of choice. i never want to serve on a ship that i couldn't fly away in a pinch, and the 9 person crew really impresses me. plus it can shoot behind it, unlike the CR-90
The charger also known as the Consular class is my absolute favorite ship. If I were a rebel I would want this with a small crew and use it for piracy against the empire. But I also love the Blockade Runner for someone reasons. I love their philosophy that it can outrun any ship it can't outfight.
Actually, this ship has had one appearance before the Clone Wars existed. A picture of it came with an action figure of Saesee Tiin in 2001, of all places.
It always annoyed me how much more advanced Clone Wars era ships look than Imperial Era ships. But because they look so much more advanced is part of the reason I love them so much.
Just a FYI, many of the Clone Wars early episodes appeared out of order. I suggest watching them in the correct order. Episode 1, season 1 wasn't actually the first story episode, the movie actually fit in around episode 3-4 from memory. There are guides online, certainly worth a watch the whole first 3 seasons make so much more sense.
Considering how most capital ships use shields that can be flown through, I'm surprised more ships don't use coil guns and missiles. You could replace that diplomatic pod with any number of mission specific modules that could do just that. And the C70s are small enough and maneuverable enough to make their selves a real pain in the ass to conventionally equipped capital ships. Zip in, drop a swarm of projectiles or warheads, zip out again, and you could have a fairly large number of them cheaply.
The Consular class (and the c-70 refit) are a nice linking piece in the design philosophy of CEC. Remove the boxish command section and the upper hull section that is connected, leave the salon pod and you have the rough frame of the DP-20. Strip out the salon pod and fill in the hole in the hull it would leave behind and you have a larger early YV series design, namely a larger YV-100. A really nice thing I think since by looking at the ships you can see where different parts of the corporation with differing design ideas were brought together on a project. Remove the boxy section of the YV-100 and you have the central section of a YT series ship left as another example of this.
