French toast is an amazing protein breakfast. I will make 3 different versions, one of them with the Oat drink from @OatlyTV to see if their plant-based oat drink works as a swap for dairy milk.

try adding some vanilla extract to the egg wash
It's so expensive...
Your recipes & videos are well made. Thank you ,
From Taiwan 🇹🇼
Pre toasting is genius. I always tried to use day old fresh bread that started going stale but this is awesome if you don’t want to wait.
seriously its so smart!!!
I felt so smart doing this without watching any videos or looking at any recipes, it just sounded like a smart thing to do!
@@RemKaioh you are smart
using stale bread is better for taste
@@RemKaiohyou are so smart
Just made this, but substituted the 15g of sweetener for 15-20g of whey protein powder and it worked great! I used 3 whole eggs instead of egg whites also, and it seemed to have protected the protein powder quite nicely. Thanks for the great recipe!
I was literally wondering this when I passed your comment, since I like to add vanilla extract to my french toast wash anyway. Good to know someone has already had success with it
As someone who is on a weight loss journey and have lost 15kg so far, your videos help me so much with making high protein and low carb foods! Thank you!
Thank you so much :)
White bread is on your low carb list?
@@jinparksoul i was wondering the same thing. White bread is extremely high on the glycemic index and has zero health benefits/vitamins/minerals.
@@azraellupos5574 Sometimes I can't help but think some commenters are paid bots because the comments are generic, out of context, and mirror comments on other videos across the web. Bread is to low carbers as garlic is to vampires.
@@jinparksoul exactly. To anyone that isnt informed, they might see these videos/comments and start making even worse dietary choices. More people need to chime in on these things.
Tried the milk + egg white combination today. On top of them I put some bluberries and honey, it was very nice! Thanks for the recipe Felu
Sounds great! Glad you liked it :)
Your videos are all great. your vids have helped introduce me to making normal, real meals, that have good macros, instead of relying on powders and supplements to reach my daily macro goals.
It's refreshing to see someone who actually intelligently focuses on making a variety of real foods with a focus on high protein to calorie ratios. A lot of the other channels tend to not prioritize the total calorie count/protein content of the recipes, or they do the same tricks every video (adding in casein powder or whey powder to boost total protein content), whereas this channel instead does things differently in a way I more align myself with. I would much rather enjoy REAL food as my primary source of my macros, and consume my protein powder/casein powder in isolation, (as a supplement, its original intended usage) rather than always MIXING the powders into my normal foods. so yeah, I think your channel finds a perfect equilibrium point where the powders don't become the overpowering element, or the 'go-to' for your recipes.
A lot of the other fitness meal prep channels out there tend to 'game-ify' the macros of ALL their 'fitness' foods by lazily and mindlessly dumping in extra casein/whey powder to manipulate the end result's macros, versus how your channel tends to be more creative and more well thought out in its ways to make foods with good macros.
I'm glad to see your channel increasing in subscriber count and size
Thanks for the content and looking forward to your future videos, and your recipe book if it's still in the works!
Thank you so much for your comment. I'm always happy when people think that my stuff is useful :) i wish you all the best!
I tried this today and it was amazing. loved it. One hack I used is that rather than toasting the bread on the pan I just tossed it in the toaster.
I eat 3 slices of French toast, scrambled eggs, a slice of turkey bacon and Greek yogurt with strawberries and blueberries in it every morning for breakfast. The secret is microwaving frozen berries (100g strawberries ,55g blueberries) and adding 145g greek yogurt and mixing some 0 calorie pancake syrup in to top your toast with. The whole meal is 645 calories (69c, 12f, 71p) and is incredible. Eating that much bread without other textures and foods makes my brain tired of eating before my body, which is why I have other foods. I'll have to try yours sometime!
Your breakfast sounds really nice!
@Remus Fundge for the French toast:
2 slices of Sarah Lee delight bread (45 calories a slice)
1 slice of Dave's killer good seed bread
Dunk in this mixture:
160g of egg whites
5g imitation vanilla extract
5g monkfruit 0 calorie sweetener
5g cinnamon
Yogurt is fat free greek yogurt
Scrambled eggs are 140g egg whites and 1 egg
Turkey bacon is Godshall's brand

Ur strawberry n blueberries lose their nutrition by microwaving
@@founderofself I'm not cooking them. Just thawing. Big difference
I use a whole egg, 100g egg whites, 2% milk, apple sauce and a scoop of whey/casein blend protein powder seasoned with salt, cinnamon and splenda! Also found that adding a bit of baking powder really helps the French toast taste fluffier. I also cook it in a little butter instead of cooking spray, makes a huge difference taste wise and only adds like 40 calories. I use the 647 40 calorie white bread.
I made these savoury style, and added grated cheddar, fried onion pieces and some meat slices on top. Absolutely amazing.
I was thinking how cool it would be to incorporate the blueberries into the structure of the bread somehow. Also it’s incredible how hefty these French toasts become, I didn’t expect them to absorb so much egg. What a delight.
I am all about toppings so the protein one is perfect! - greek yogurt mixed with frozen berries (warmed up) and add some warm peanut butter:)
Thank you so much for this recipe!! Was so surprised how tasty this was
Pretoast the bread?! I've never considered this. Thanks for the content, please keep it up. You are helping me get fit!
yeah you dont have to throw it on a pan. just throw it in the toaster but not for too long or in the oven on a low heat so it dries out.
Yes, it's actually pretty good. You can also use a toaster but I think it's better to use the pan as you will use the pan for the toast later anyway
Update. I made these for the week. I kinda did a split between the oat milk, and extra egg whites. 5 days worth of breakfast. My bread soaked up almost all of the egg with every batch. I cheated and tried them. Delicious. I have some fat free vanilla greek, blueberries, and PB2 ready to top them off every morning.
I love you Felu!
@@johnengland7505 what does the low calorie milk do for the mixture?
@@SkyZer0 my kids normally won't eat my high protein french toast, too rubbery with all the egg whites. With 50g of oat milk they stay fluffy, more like my wife's traditional full egg and cream french toast.
I love pre-toasting my bread and it works really well! I also have left bread out overnight (with and without a very light toasting) and that’s also effective for getting the slices to soak up more liquid. I do two things to add more protein: 1) get my dose of collagen peptides by mixing them in and 2) mix in 85 g Greek yogurt. To really save on calories I either do 4 slices of Sara Lee Delightful bread (180 cals) or 4 slices of Healthy Life white bread (140 cals). Thanks for this great video as always!
sound great, thank you :)
I can say by far the best channel for clean lean diet! From toast,to meals, sweets!!! Thank you very much for your effort…..!!!!!!
Love your channel Felu. I really love that you aren't a shill. If you would have said "oh this sponsor milk is just sooooo much better" I would have rolled my eyes. But you were honest, which I really appreciate. Keep up the great work..and because you were honest and I wish to promote that, I will try some Oatly's.
Oh and randomly, your lemon blondie recipe, I used oranges instead of lemon, and it was 10x better, in case you ever want to try something different !
Thank you for the orange idea, I will try that out :) Oatly was also very kind and wanted me to be honest, I really appreciated this.
This looks incredible!! Super excited to make this! You’re a hero!
Felu, French toast is my thing. May I make a couple of suggestions?
1. Buy a nice baguette. Use the baguette for a sandwich like your recipe for sandwiches, then slice the baguette into pieces for french toast. A baguette has excellent macros and soaks up the liquid better than anything else. You caj just leave it on the counter because French bread is actually a recipe for stale bread. Or you can freeze it for later.
2. Use a vanilla. It won't affect the macros but will upgrade the taste. I make my own to cut on cost.
3. Soak the bread much longer.
4. 0% milk beats most vegan milks on macros.
5. 3~5g of butter is worth the calories due to the noticeable taste alteration.
I did the almond milk ones. They were beyond amazing. This guy is def legit.
My breakfast pretty much every day in one form or another. Love the pre toasting idea and have used almond milk for these. Also congrats on the sponsorship.
Thank you!
Bro you are a life saver! When it comes to cooking I am clueless. Thank you! I've been eating basically plane eggs, chicken or ground beef for like a year! Lol
Always enjoy your videos, thanks!
Thank you 😊
I love french toast but haven't eaten it since my mom used to make it decades ago!! I'll definitely give this a try.
Absolutely amazing, you gained a new subscriber and I'll be saving your recipes.
Thankyou for your hard work
Thank you and welcome :)
I like this recipe of French toast a lot, discovered it a week ago and have been eating it for lunch three times
Welcome to thank you for helping me build talent and love healthy eating, your brother from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ❤❤❤
A 0% - 15 calorie syrup is also a game changer as a topping!
I use all egg beaters, 1 scoop good protein powder (that is a casein/whey mix with xantham gun to help simulate the cream in good French toast)
These are amazing, and they're so much more consistent than when I try to make pancakes lol
...I'm a bread fiend and I will def try this, but different bread. Bread is love, bread is life!
Thank you for this video. I am a breakfast guy, can eat breakfast any time of the day, and French Toast is my favorite.
Happy Holidays!
In case anyone is wondering if it really tastes good. I've tried it twice and it (cow milk version)tastes really good. I'm always on the lookout for fitness foods that actually taste good and aren't artificial or just crap.So thanks for that
This guy’s vids are awesome. The chicken fried rice, egg and potato skillet, and this one are made more than once a week. Nice to hit your macros eating food you actually enjoy
Your channel is changing my life!!!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad my channel is helping you :)
Eggcelent. Even though you said the high protein egg white only was dry, the good macros make it taste even better.
(I did add the skyr and pb2)
Thank you so much , am gonna try it 🔥👨🍳
Oh ! I didnt knew this receipe was popular outside of France ! Fun fact, we actually call it "Pain perdu" here, which means 'lost bread' litteraly, or 'outdated bread' if you will, since it was designed to recycle old, hard bread back in the days 😜
We also mainly use butter as cooking fat for this one, you should try it out, goes really well ! 😋
I'll have to try your take as well, that gorgeous thumbnail shot alone had me sold already hahaha
That's exactly how you make this: use bread that is a few days old.
Using that spongy "toast bread" kills the idea of not throwing away food so that's a no-no.
But secondly it's like eating a moist sponge compared to using "real" bread that has a real crust.
I remember once the kids wanted some for weekend breakfast but we had no bread left so I used "toast bread" instead. They said it was like eating soft baby food.
@@vlada Lol, i can see how ! Thats also how i make it, basically took the receipe from my mother haha
I think spongy bread can work as well, but that it would need more cooking, still gotta try 😋
France is not the world.
It's extremely popular in America. My sister uses brioche and that makes it extra good, but huge in calories 😅
My fave bread for this is Chinese milk bread that I let get stale. I use eggs, egg yolks, half and half and cook with butter. The last one I made was orange tumeric. Nothing low calorie about it, but it was delicious. 😂😅
My absolute fave cooking Channel. 😊 please make a video for a low calorie Hefestreusel Kuchen… I absolutely love buying them in the bakery but I has a lot of calories
Thank you :)
I just made the best French toast I’ve ever made with your recipe. You’re the man, Felu.
Thank you so much :)
Pre-toasting! I never thought of that! Great way to keep it from being soggy!
I will have to try the pre toasting tomorrow !!! Funny enough i have never thought of using milk or oat milk 😅. One of my favourite toppings for French toast is using PB2 like you did then use chocolate or chocolate peanut butter whey protein powder mix it with water and to thicken it up and to mix a bit of cocoa powder!!!
Great video! Will try as soon as egg prices where I live get back under control, insane rn lol
You can also use a high protein milk like fairlife for extra protein and less sugar
It is classic french recipe that we prepare with old bread when it gets to hard to use ( I mean real bread, not industrial toast). It is called "pain perdu" (lost bread)
Didn't know about the pre-toasting step, I'll definitely try that next time.
What I usually do is to mix one (sometimes two) eggs, with a 2 tablespoons of skim milk, then I add cinnamon and nutmeg as well as 30g of protein powder (usually just plain vanilla casein powder). I mix that in a blender (the casein is kinda difficult to whisk smooth by hand) , then soak the bread in the mixture and cook them in a pan. I don't add any sweetener to the batter. I top it with fruit(s) and drizzle it with low/zero calorie maple flavoured syrup. It's delicious, and it keeps me full for several hours (like 5-6hrs).
I swear, just adding half a scoop of vanilla whey protein to that custard mixture makes it heavenly. You should try that.
Thanks for the recipe looks so yummy I will definitely try it 👍🏻
did this for breakfast today, Super good 😼!
U even upgraded the most basic anabolic recipe. What a legend
Thank you for making a high protein version and being honest about the comparison. Everyone makes a protein versions of some breakfast item and claims it tastes the same or better than the real thing, and they are either lying or are in deep denial. The protein version is almost always worse, ESPECIALLY when you add whey. But sometimes you just make the sacrifice of calories and taste to meet your goals.
What a recipe!! I made this using some Dave’s killer powerseed bread and oat milk. Turned out so well that I’ll experiment with variations on it in the coming weeks.
Nice, glad you liked it :)
The real old french toast recipe is made with stale bread leftovers not only because it prevent to waste old bread but it also makes the recipe crispier
LOVE YOUR RECIPES
Felu is the best as always!
i want to make protein french toast with either reduced calorie bread or protein bread, muscle milk, egg whites, cinnamon, vanilla extract and powdered pb drizzle because i think it would be a protein bomb that also tastes sweet like a normal french toast
Great content Felu 💪
The idea of this recipe has traditionally been about not throwing away old bread.
Secondly, using "toast bread" is like eating a moist sponge compared to using "real" bread that has a crust, texture and consistency. Not to mention the chemicals added to industrial breads like whiteners, dough conditioners and rising agents is part of that whole processed foods it's best to avoid. (potassium bromate, Azodicarbonamide in food are allowed in US foods, banned elsewhere)
I once used "toast bread" instead for the kids, they said it was like eating soft baby food.
love the recipe.
Yyyoooooo!!! Makin not doctor greg doucette jealous!!! Those looked amazing my dude lol
Thank you :)
I had my prejudices, but in the end I enjoyed this video. Thumbs up 👍
which egg whites do you use? i live in germany , can u suggest please?
The cheapest ones you can find
I buy them on amazon
You can order them relatively cheap from prozis - about 4,50 per kg average after one of the codes. But they are factory farmed in france..if you can live with that- they are pretty good to use for everything
I like to mix protein powder in for more protein
Great video! Where do you get your eggwhite from?
I have to try the toasting before, I just soak them and pour the remaining egg white slowly through the cooking step.
Protein French Toast is one of my absolute favorite breakfasts! I actually make my own challah bread and it turns out amazing.
Amazing realistic do-able recipes. They look tasty and healthy both. Please continue with more.
Wo kaufst du das Eiklar? Ich habe das vorher bei Bulk gekauft, aber die haben die Preise verdoppelt.
I like to put a nut butter between two slices before soaking them
Great idea
Would this be good to have everyday or once and awhile?
Congrats on the sponsor!
that is absolutely true. i eat anabolic french toast every day, multiple times :D
Stevia is bitter Erythritol is cold. If you combine both (a few rounds of testing to find the sweet spot) and you have the perfect sweetener. Erythritol kicks the bitternes out of stevia and stevia takes the cold taste away from Ery.
Great video! What's the sweetener that you use? I couldn't understand it in the video.
It's called erythritol. Thank you 😊
Have never seen bottled egg white in germany, where do you get it?
I would highly recommended Nature's Own Life Honey Wheat bread. It's only 40cal per slice and I've never had another light bread that is that low of calories but is still the size of regular bread and still tastes like regular bread.
Tried the ones made by Greg Douchette and hated them, but I might have to give it another go!
Can I use 3 eggs instead? I am not a fan of sweet French toast but ill go with the normal French toast
Damn that looks so good!
Reminds me of Dwayne Johnson rock toast. Keep it up Felu!
Hi Felu. Love ur Vids. I have a Question: Where do u get ur boneless chicken thighs from ? I assume u live in Germany just like me but i cant find any in the shops here. Do you have some recommendations or do u just go to a butcher ?
I go to the butcher, ask them for "pollo fino". That is the name for boneless thighs
Use fairlife milk and get more protein. Best flavor and protein
Thoughts on vanilla extract in the batter? Why the real egg and not pure whites?
The egg yolk makes it less dry and I'm not a huge fan of vanilla extract but you can absolutely use it
Can these be re-heated? In the microwave for example? Or does it ruin the recipe?
Where have got egg whites in Germany??? I have never seen them
Wäre cool wenn du vegetarische Rezepte zeigen würdest! Sehr coole Videos!
Would you replace the sweetener with some vanilla extract?
I'm not a huge fan of vanilla extract but you can totally do it.
Can this be put in the fridge and eaten for lunch next day? Microwaved
I don't have egg whites where i live. So how many eggs do you recommend i add to replicate it. Thanks :-)
50g egg whites = 1 whole egg
The oatly part of this episode didn't age too well 😂 everything else looks great tho

Can i just ask you though? Bread ray leanord or leanord ray bread? Which one
I’ve made this twice and it taste great but my toast always ends up looking bad lol, I’m trying to get it nice how you do but I can’t.
You need to reduce the heat of your stove, I think that will help!
