- Comments to the media by Vassily Nebenzia, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, on the draft resolution prohibiting placement of nuclear weapons in outer space, attack on Iranian diplomatic premises in Syria and Palestine.
Vasily Nebenzya, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, commented today (11 Apr) on a draft resolution prohibiting placement of nuclear weapons in outer space.
He said, “The US and Japan have presented to the Security Council a draft resolution proposing prohibiting placement of nuclear weapons in outer space. It looks seemingly positive, but there are important pitfalls which our Western colleagues try to conceal in this regard.”
He also said, “The issue of nuclear weapons is a subject of expert discussions in relevant international fora where we actively participate. One of the problems of the US-Japan draft is that it preempts these discussions and contains obligations that have never been examined in relevant disarmament fora by the full membership of the Outer Space Treaty.”
He continued, “Outer space should remain a peaceful domain without any weapons, including nuclear. But the pen holders fiercely resist our arguments. In other words, they want to include an obligation of non-development of nuclear weapons specifically designed to be placed in outer space but resist to include a wider similar obligation pertaining to any kind of weapons.”
He stated, “The only aim of the draft is to politicize the issue, support baseless US allegations against Russia and to try to put us in an awkward position.”
He added, “They also want to avoid any obligations that will prevent them from doing what they're doing now: developing weapons systems that can be placed in outer space. Make no mistake here, as they say.”
No one among the Gang of Five in the UN Security Council is an angel. One thing is for sure, it isn't a council for security. If the world needs security, it is security from each one of this gang.

Russia is developing a nuclear-powered cruise missile that can also carry nuclear warhead. Its NATO codename is SKYFALL. This weapon can fly indefinitely until the order to hit the target is given. I think the objective of the resolution is to uncover the operating altitude of the cruise missile. If it flies at low altitude then it belongs to the class of loitering amunitions like the Lancet. Otherwise it does not respect the Outer Space Treaty.

@@random443 ok fine but I think part of Russias point was that they feel pushed by the US to act like they are doing something wrong, maybe they think so what if our rocket can technically go a little higher in the sky and cross the threshold of being in space technically. It’s far from a nuclear satellite that they were freaking out about before. And now if Russia vetoes resolution to forgoe this technology the US will surely escalate things and say okay well we’re going to make a rocket that flies a little higher. Honestly humans don’t need weapons if we just got rid of all harmful devices like guns we would be better off

A two state solution is the only way but first your neighbour have to want peace also,hamas charter is the destruction of israel.The palestians must realize israel is there to stay and israel must also respect the palestians also.i think the fear of palestians having a state for themselves is that it's going to become like lebanon,you can't have a state within a state. For i might add Netanyahu and Israel initially supported Hamas for quite some time. They believed that taking Gaza from Palestinian authority will damage the the Palestinian cause as their representation will look split and weak. Netanyahu said on several speeches we support Hamas so Palestinian people don't have a united front and to cause division in them.

Agreement was signed long ago with using space for friendship. After ww2, nuclear energy is used for friendly use like electricity, but some countries don't play by the rules like Russia.

That is the whole point of deterrence.
In 2021, Russia proposed limiting the deployment of nuclear weapons only on its territory. The US refused. They could also look for Israeli nuclear weapons outside of Iran rather than in space 😂
