I'm a freshman in highschool looking to go into radiopharmacy. It had been my dream to go into the medical field since I was young. I had been diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 4, so my love for medicine didn't only come from there but it came from my stride to help people. For years after the job I thought I wanted was endocrinology but I soon came to learn that this wasn't what I wanted to do for a living. I wanted to work with medicine, make medicine to help people just as medicine was what helped me. So I decided retail pharmacy was what I wanted to do. But upon looking through different kinds of pharmacy because of my curiosity, I came across radiopharmacy. I read up on it, and I instantly knew this was the job for me, it was more of a feeling rather than anything else. So, I went to youtube to further my research when I come across this video. What I find funny is what I hadn't known was the same college that made this video is the same college that my cousin goes to, and the college I was looking into going to. I think this is a sign, this truly is the job for me.
Welcome to the field! Pharmacy is an amazing start. I'm in nursing school right now and pharmacy really helped give me that leg up. I knew that IV drip factor (dimensional analysis), pharmacology and SIG codes upon beginning my nursing program which has helped me so much! Crazy enough, pharmacy techs are usually expected to know at like 20-25 drugs and their uses. Nurses are required to know 50 drugs and their uses. So, the knowledge came in handy. If you love healthcare, pharmacy is definitely one of the greatest options out there. God bless.
