    Follow his advice. I've been using my mouse in a non-ergonomic way for years (not gaming, but for work and social media) and I've developed carpal tunnel syndrome in both my hands. Went under rehab twice and took medicines but the pain didn't go away. Now I invested in a good vertical mouse and planning on upgrading my mechanical keyboard to an alice layout. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome may not seem so serious but when it's there, it's always there and it's very annoying especially that we use our hands in our daily lives.

Hopefully the rests have not come to late. Same problem here what did you end up doing

    • @zacle2440
      @zacle2440 2 роки тому

      @@aerose5868 That's unfortunate to hear. Following what he said in the video is essentially what I have done.
      1. I found a chair and desk combo that allowed me to comfortably line the arm rests up with the top of the desk so that when I am sitting my elbows are already level with the desk. Now this is not always possible as it can be quite expensive/difficult. but the next too should be for basically anyone.
      2. it sounds a little funny but he is totally right when he says to sit up in your chair, its a bit uncomfortable at first but it does raise up your arms and allows you to get parallel with the surface of the desk alleviating the stress on your wrist.
      3. I bought wrist rests for both my keyboard and mouse (similar to the gel one he has for his mouse but not a combined one with the mouse pad just separate ones). This is something I would definitely recommend, you can pick up a cheap one for as low as even 5 dollars (I got a set for 15 dollars) and they definitely help (I also gifted some to my father who doesn't game but spends long hours at the computer working and he has noticed a difference as well.) A bean bag as he said also works.
      Hope this helps with your pain, I know for me at least it was a total well... pain (I'll see myself out).

    • @aerose5868
      @aerose5868 2 роки тому

      @@zacle2440 thank you for the quick response on a 2 year old comment.
      Ill run you through my current situation.
      Im already sitting up in my chair and my wrist is hardly even touching my mousepad. my desk does seem a little high but i dont feel thats a major problem as i play with my whole forearm on the desk(therefore almost 0 strain on wrist).
      at this point just trying to find a cause of the issue to see if its even viable to take out of my game. as im currently playing at a semi pro level where any small change to my setup (or at least what im comfortable with) can take me out of competing for weeks

    • @zacle2440
      @zacle2440 2 роки тому

      @@aerose5868 Your welcome. Yeah that is a rough situation for sure then. I'm no doctor and therefore can't give you to much more help. Especially when you are competing it makes it even more of a sensitive issue.
      For me, the issue was as Steve described of the pressure being applied on that little bone in the bottom left of your palm (looking at your palm of the right hand as that is the hand that I had the pain in). which appeared to cause irritation of the nerve. I never went to a doctor to get it looked at as, changing my setup and adding the wrist rests fixed it for me. Overall I would attribute the biggest helper to me to being the wrist rests. the softer material appears to help me. and from what I remember (though this was almost two years ago so grain of salt) adding the wrist rest didn't appear to mess me up to much in my gaming. BUT I also do NOT play any game at a truly professional competitive level. so it could very well be different for you.
      I hope you find a fix for your own hand issues and good luck with competing! maybe I'll see your name in one of the tournaments I sometimes tune into.
