I learned this also....you need a larger diameter hose the further away from the vacuum source you go. Also a major vacuum port. 1/8 or 1/4 not enough. Try it to see if it wakes up. Good luck.
spray some wd-40 in the trumpet, this will lube the spinning disk that in time build up dirt and grime, if this does not work you have 1 of 2 things you may not have not enough air compression to make the disk spin at max speed, or that you need a replacement on the inside.

you have to do maintenance, lubricant the turbine that makes the noise, and offcourse use more big or larger hoses.
