Now that's some long grass! The bx is one of the BEST mowers i have ever used, i have used tons and tons of different mowers and commercial zero turns in my day and NOTHING compares to how well the bx mows with the 60" deck, I'm still baffled every time i mow with mine.
You can always tell a good mower deck design when you DONT need razer sharp blades to make it cut well, my blades are OEM never have been sharpened, they are absolutely TRAHSED and my bx still never misses a blade of grass.. That to me is PROOF that these 60" decks are designed right. Great video demonstrating stability too! I know this is more what the video was about but I just had to comment about how well it mows haha.
Biff's Equipment you are exactly right. I think your one of the most enthusiastic people I know when it comes to the love of mowing with a bx. Kubota really needs you as a spokesperson! Thanks for watching and the great comments!
K&H Tractors thanks man! Means a lot! Keep the great videos coming! Wish we lived closer cuz I think you and I would get along great!
Biff's Equipment me too!
Thanks for showing your video, just purchased BX2380 in an attempt to do what you accomplished. Jan.
Thank you for watching! I’ve a video coming out in a few days comparing trying to do a slope like this with a regular mower vs the bx.
Hallelujah on wearing your seat belt, I learned that the hard way too! The first time I had the front end loader on the tractor and started down the hill, it took off and I didn't have my seatbelt on and luckily I was able to hold on to the steering wheel when the engine died from me bouncing off the seat. I was able to turn sideways enough to stop the tractor before I bailed off. I have learned to have great respect for this tractor!
good thing you were not wearing a seatbelt , you would not have been able to bail !
Thanks for posting this . I have a bx 2680 and was a little concerned about tackling the slope I have...But it looks like I can do it as long as I don't turn sideways.
Jay Gobolos just make sure your in 4 wheel drive and be careful! Thanks for watching!
It’s the dips & bumps that can throw you….slow & careful is the only way
Take it slow.
💥 That is a steep grade. Nice to see the BX can maintain traction. Great camera angles! Nice work!
Keep on tractoring!
A RITTER BIT WILL DO Thanks! It’s hard to grasp the true angle of a slope on camera. Have a great day!
K&H Tractors Yes it is! To realize slope and the layout of property can be hard to figure out as a viewer. I like that you used a board and your angle app. You should show that next time to help us grasp the reality of what you’re dealing with.
A RITTER BIT WILL DO I agree it would have been best to show that.
You prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Jamal Jabari instablaster :)
Great video i have a 2020 BX2380 it feels very unstable if you try any sideways mowing on hills. I went out and installed 3” wheel spacers and what a difference the machines feels very stable now.
Richard Adams yes they aren’t the best for sideways on a hill. I’m sure the spacers help, a lot of people are using them.
Have the rear tyres been filled with fluids?
I have a BX2350 and my 1 1/2 acres slopes from 12 to 23 deg. 2 weeks ago I was going down the hill close to the fence and it popped out of gear and by the time I figured how to stop it, I had plowed into my 3 week old chain link fence. I have a bungee cord on the gear knob now to prevent that from happening again. It's kind of scary when a 1500 lb. machine just goes into free wheel!
David Farber they can sure get away from you quick. Be careful and thanks for watching.
The GR2120 Kubota has full time 4x4 I don't think it could jump out of fear?
I can hear old Steve Erwin saying "Danga Danga Danga!" , But I feel you. I live in the mountains as well and I sometimes have to do the same. I have ag tires and wheel weights with spacers on mine to help a little, but it's still an adventure!
Farpoint Farms haha. I enjoy mowing places that has a little challenge to it. Thanks for watching!
I've got a BX2380, absolutely love it! I was considering wheel weights but I have an area I mow that stays wet all the time. Do you think the extra weight would cause me to not be able to mow the wet areas?
Elliott Varner I don’t think it would hurt at all. You’ll not add enough weight to these to make them sink in enough to make much difference.
Great vid Ben. Thank you. Can you mow that slope if the grass has any moisture on/in it? Or does it have to be completely dry. Are your rear tires loaded? I'm thinking about switching to a turf tire. Destroying my hill with the AGs. Thanks Ben
I don’t have fluid but wish I did, that’s something I’m going to add eventually. As long as it hasn’t rained a lot you can still mow it pretty good. Thanks for watching

As soon as I heard you speak, i knew you had to from around the Ky/TN/Va border somewhere. Good ole Middlesboro Ky and Cumberland Gap Tn represented here!
Hey that’s great! I’m in Dickenson County VA, we all may talk a little different then the rest of the world but the little region you mentioned is some of the greatest people on earth! Thanks so much for subscribing and I hope to see more comments from you! Take care!
@@khtractors nobody else in the world talks like we do! So unique and im proud of that! I lived in birmingham alabama for a short while and even in the deep south they didn’t sound as country as us! Lol! Looking forward to your videos!
@@sktech76 thank you!
I've really been enjoying your videos with your bx. How often are you removing the deck and isn't it a hassle. It seem people are steered away from the Kubota drive over deck. I'm curious why.
Scott C the deck isn’t bad if your on concrete. I’ll try to do a video on it one day. I haven’t had any experience with the Kubota drive over deck myself. I do know on some drive over decks you will end up having wear issues from the bouncing because there isn’t as positive of a connection. They have a cub cadet yanmar at school and I’ve had to rework the connections a few times on that deck. Thanks for watching!
@@khtractors That'd be great to see! Thank you sir.
You did not explain how the tractor is set up. What modifications (weights, tires, tires filled?).
glevideo The only mods is just the front weights. I need to get the rear tires filled but haven’t yet.
Love it
Buses and mowers!
Those Roll bars aren’t for looks. They will flip. You can bet on that. I was taught to back up a grade that steep. Four wheel drive will keep it from spinning. Stay safe
Thomas Reece Thanks for watching! Yes I never want to use the roll bar but I’m sure glad it’s there just incase.
Yeah, personally I’d be backing up that steep of a hill but I have a front end loader on my Kubota that I keep low to the ground to catch the front end if it gets that dicey. Guess you’ll probably break traction long before a rear rollover on that little BX though.
Nunya Bizness yeah it would spin out before flipping backwards.
It’s easy to overestimate the degrees on a slope. Video and pictures tend flatten a slope. On my place the steepest slopes are around 18 degrees, this is besides gullies where it’s probably a 50 degree slope.
We might buy a little BX to complement our MX tractor.
Good luck with your decisions! Thanks for watching
my ariens zero turn tackled a slope like this monday. suprised me lol
Be careful on it! I’ve mowed this spot several times but always try to do it when the ground is good and dry. Thanks for watching!
I wonder if a Kubota GR2120(full time 4x4,21 hp Kubota diesel, turf tires)would tackle this hill too?
I don’t have any experience with those but I would think if it’s 4 wheel drive it should. The BX would be a little heavier which might make some difference. Thanks for watching!
Gr2120 would take this on with ease. I own one and use it to mow our slope that is steeper than this. It's where the specific tank discharges, so it's always very green and wet.
I always run it at full throttle in hot Australia summers and I've never had an issue. I highly recommended it.
Dang that sounds like my Troy Bilt TB 2246 while mowing 1:14
What slope app did you happen to use to find the angle? I have a cab tractor and I feel like I am sitting so high and going to flip all the time ahahaha.
It came on my IPhone, it’s located with the measure app, level, and calculator. Cab tractors do feel higher. Thanks for watching!
@@khtractors Thanks! I had removed it I guess. Added it back now!
Pretty sure turf tires have more traction than industrial messicks did a video on it a few years back
In most cases yes. Maybe not mud though. Thanks
Question: does that machine mow in reverse, or did you disable something?
Drew Johnson they will mow in reverse without having to do anything special like press a button or set the key at a certain position. This is one reason I like it so much. Thanks for watching!
@@khtractors it's a tractor not consumer lawn and garden crap
Up and down isn't the issue with the BX.. It handles the hills just fine, even the steep ones. The issue is side to side on those steep hills lol. I have steep hills also and I just go up and down. If I try to go side to side the BX will flip.
Kubota Monster I’ve noticed it looks like your yard has a good amount of slope. Yes they aren’t the best going sideways on a hill. Thanks for watching!
How many times have you flipped your BX on a slope?
ya472 I’ve never flipped, but I have been on 3 wheels a few times lol
@@KubotaMonsterBX23S It is in my 'solution bin' to install an anti-sway bar on the front axle to add tipping resistance. It makes way-more sense than those damn spacers everyone is buying. Then there would be a lot less 3-wheelin.
ya472 never flipped a BX or Riding mower. I’ll mow steep places but at the same time I know the ground. Doing this in an unfamiliar location is where you can get in trouble.
I highly suggest upgrading to radial tires like the Carlisle Versa Turf for shenanigans like this. I only have a Cub Cadet LT1050 right now and I'm side mowing what might be a 40°-46° slope (or at least most of it) on R1 ag tread tires on the back.
Turf saver tires are straight up garbage for anything more than about 10° especially when you get grass juice all over them.
You better actually check your slope with an angle finder. I very seriously doubt it’s 40-46 degrees. Anything over 33 degrees is difficult. Not being smart just stating that from actually checking slopes that I thought would have been more when in reality it’s not. I’m not changing my tires for just this one slope that gets mowed a couple times a year. I have 4 other tractors with ag tires if I need to go anywhere steeper. Appreciate you watching!
@@khtractors I'm definitely going to look into a grade finding app for my phone but rough estimate is the worst part of the slope goes up about 2 of me (6'7") and the rise and run is roughly the same. So 12' rise with 12' run = 45°. I'll tell you that I'm hanging off the side of the lawn tractor to do it and the turf savers on the front let me down quite often. I don't recommend it but laziness is powerful when doing that is a lot faster than running the string trimmer across the hill.
@@TwoTall1988 hey I’d try it with a rider over weedeating as well. I lay down a 5 or 6 foot board then put the angle finder or my phone has one also on the board. It gives a more accurate reading that way. Let me know once you check it.
@@khtractors clinometer says the hill I billygoat is between 40-46°. Crazy that the limiting factor is 2wd with turf saver steering. When I get my subcompact or compact tractor I'll probably be manually cutting
@@TwoTall1988 that’s impressive
Wheel spacers are key…. 4wd is a must or it will take off down hills. Careful with a front end loaders heading down hills too - you will find those rear tires in the air.
And unlike our mowing friend, just go backwards up the hill with the mower on and you can make steeper slopes than that….. if it gets away, then you have a fighting chance at steering toward something soft. :)
Yes if it breaks free in reverse it would be easier to steer out of the slide but it won’t climb as good. If you notice I try backing once and it spins out. The front weights are a good fit, heavy enough to add extra traction but still leaves weight on the rear unlike a loader as you mentioned. Thanks for watching!
@@khtractors Yup especially for anyone with AG tyres, max traction is achieved when going uphill forward and downhill backwards. The tyres are made that way and gravity assists on top of that.
Looks like AG tyres and wheel spacers could turn this machine into a little beast.
I would like wheel spacers, but rather stick with turf tires for the majority of the mowing. Thanks for watching
@@khtractors Fair enough, AG tyres can make a mess... especially once diff lock comes into play. I am trying to find a suitable machine / solution for 25 to 35 degree slopes. My neighbour has been slashing for me with a 60HP tractor and creep gear and we have certainly found its limits.
Anyone know what a safe slope for driving sideways on a hill is?
MrDae006 I’m not sure. They aren’t very stable going sideways but I have went around some decent slopes. I’ll try to check the slope on those places one day. Thanks
I usually gauge with the “pucker factor”..
I have same hills maybe a little steeper do you think the 1880 would be fine for that or should I go with 2380
Personally I think you need the few extra horsepower when mowing. But I have a 60” deck. The 54” might do ok on the 18 horsepower. Thanks for watching!
Run a 54” deck on my 1880 …it handles slopes no problem. I do have rear wheel weights for the FEL, leave the FEL off when mowing. Ordered rear wheel spacers but have not installed them yet.
would a BX2680 better for climb slope like yours. I have the same slope here and will trade my 3 hours used Z724XKW54 because unable to operate iti in these slop. have choice of waiting for BX2380 or taking BX2680 stock.
The 2680 and 2380 are the exact same tractor except for the engine hp. As for climbing they should perform equally.
you braver than me lol
Thanks for watching
My backyard is that steep and I mow it with a regular ridding mower.
Check it with an angle finder and then let me know. Thanks for watching!
@@khtractors my back yard is very steep a tractor will not go up it and bulldozer will slid back down.
@@anthonyyoung7344 but you said you can mow it with a regular riding mower 🧐😂! Have a good evening!
If Ventrac tractors were more affordable, I wouldn’t ever use a tractor and bush hog to cut slopes again.
A Ventrac would be a great fit for us here! I’d love to try one out! Thanks
Is that hydrostatic
It is!
