- This is my part six of the Toledo Bend Baits to throw series.
What this is if you're brand new to my channel is a non-biased/give credit to where its due on lures that have caught me lots of largemouth bass in the winter months on Toledo Bend.
The lures that you'll see in this video work amazing during the cold and warm winter days.
Vast Majority of the time I fish from the Pendelton Bridge to the dam but when that lake is at pool or above it I do fish north because that fall cypress tree bite is incredible! If you like to shallow fish definitely head north and give it a shot!
I hope you find this guide helpful, and it catches you a pile of bass!
Tight lines, Good fishing & God Bless!

Another great video
Thanks bud!
Headed out this weekend, definitely gonna try a few of these. Appreciate the help!
Awesome! It should be really good! Good lord willing I’ll be on Rayburn this weekend. Anytime and I hope you catch some big ones!
Great info, appreciate the videos man
Anytime bud!!!!
Great Job on the video. We come down from St. Louis every March.
Thank you! Oh that’s the perfect time to fish Toledo! Especially for sight fishing!
When the time gets closer shoot me a message on Facebook or Instagram and I’ll give you a good report.
Thanks so much. I appreciate you telling it like it is. We will have to meet up one day and go fishing. I’m sure you can teach an old dog, some new tricks.
Anytime! There aren’t too many fishermen that give honest information these days. That sounds good to me! Come on!
Hey lance I know I commented already but I would have never thought to use a black rattle trap.
That solid black one can be 💰💰💰💰
Good stuff!
Thanks bud!
Wahoo Lance. Jigging spoon is a wahoo
That’s it! That’s a bad little spoon! I jumped a big one off in six mile with it couple years back and caught several between 2 and 5lbs
Good stuff brother 🦾🤘🏼🦾
Yes sir! I hope it helps someone catch a 10 pounder!
Perfect.... My next trip is to south toledo to buck and Indian creek. Not a fan of launching and landing my boat at Rayburn right now with it being so low
Heck yeah! I love those two creeks. Especially during the spawn. They’re fun to fish! I can relate with that! It’s a pain in the butt to launch and load with the lake being low like it is. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks the lake will be close to full. I really miss the bush bite!
Hey lance I'm new to your channel and I'm going to be new to Texas fishing in a couple of months.can you do a video on what kind of baits you use in summer time on Toledo bend thanks for all the great videos. GOD bless you and your family and Micky .
Hey bud! I’ve got ya covered! I’ve got entire playlist that covers Toledo! You’ll really benefit from it. It’s a complete yearly breakdown. God bless
I want to fish shallow next week up north on the Louisiana side what areas I need to explore I’m in a kayak too
Blue Lake / 12:15 area is pretty amazing for a kayak! Especially when the lake is full or over full. It’s 4’ low right now. A lot of good structure is gonna be outta the water but they have plenty of stumps up there.
Another area you should try is San Megil
Hey Lance! I just moved to the area and I’m wanting to learn and fish this lake year round! I’ve got a boat project that’s probably gonna take a while to do, but I’m sure my uncle might let me use his. Hope to hear from ya!
Hey bud! Welcome to the area. Toledo is really good from now until May then most bass will move offshore chasing Shad but the grass is starting to comeback so hopefully we’ll have a good shallow water bite during the summer. Heck yeah! Hopefully so! During the springtime you can literally launch at most ramps and start fishing at the ramp. One of my favorite places to fish in the spring is Lowe’s creek and the Indian mounds. Both are on the Texas side.
@@lanceduff Thank you! I am literally walking distance from the BBQ and minutes away from Harbor Light and Indian Mounds!
@@Only_hell_momma_raised you’re in the right spot! That place is so fun to fish. Especially during the spawn. I’ve got a few videos I’ve filmed up there.
Years ago when the hydrillia was growing out to the river and main lake that was the best spot on the entire lake. I really hope it comes back. Good news is the grass is starting to grow good again.
I throw a black rattle trap on Toledo bend
That’s awesome! It works!
Was that a Wahoo Jig’n Shad spoon in white
Yes sir! That’s it! Just looked it up. I couldn’t remember the name of it. I jumped off one between 8 and 10lbs with it in six mile one year. It’s a dang good one!
I just got my boat and i have a downward fishfinder thing. Without a livescope how do i know where in the Deepwater to throw 🤔 i live on south toledo bend
So I got a livescope in March of last year but I really don’t use it to it’s full potential. My style of fishing is kinda old school.
What I do is I have two hummingbird fish finders with the lake master chips. Those map chips show ever creek, flat, point and river channel on the lake. One of the main things I look for is where the river gets close to that 20 to 30’ zone next to some kind of flat or point. I always find Shad and fish in those types of areas. Key in on those.
If you don’t have the capability of inserting some kind of map chip in your depth finder they do make paper maps and that’s what you’ll have to go with.
Ive never fished toledo bend before but I have a tournament up there in mid febuary, would anything like this still be good?
Oh yes these baits would depending on how cold we stay.
Also watch part one of this series you’ll find it helpful as well for February. Especially if it’s a warm February. Definitely watch it.
Would you say the same baits would also work on Rayburn this time of year?
Some will. Head on over to my channel and look on my playlist. I have an entire series on my best Rayburn lures. You’ll find a lot of good information in there that will help you.
@@lanceduff I did after I asked the question…lol Wow. Great info. I have a Toyota series event coming in 2 weeks. I am fishing as a co so gives me some ideas. First time for Rayburn for me. Thanks for taking the time to make these awesome videos!
@@am2probassfishingjourney635 yes sir! There aren’t many locals or prostaff guys that give honest information. I’d like to see more of it in the fishing industry but we probably won’t. Good deal. Those are fun events. I use to fish them but the older I get the more local I like to stay. Anytime bud! I hope some of those lures helps get you a win! I’m tying a few of those on for my Rayburn trip tomorrow.
