- This battle shows us how important weight of wheels itself really is! Meanwhile BMW 120d is on M-Performance 313 styling 19 inch superlight wheels, BMW 123d is standing also on 19 inch wheels, but on extremely (stupidly) heavy ones... Here's the result.
Same part of autobahn, same driver, different temperature (better for 123d), but as you can see.....

They re both 120d I measured it myself with 2 different real videos and the difference is real.
Completely agree about wheels, not many people know about wheel weight and the difference it makes. If you go for a 3kg heavier wheel (each) you may aswell have a 100kg passenger on board.

Me too because the 123d is really that slow. mainly because of the gearbox, i really dont like my 123 :X
It’s got short gear ratio’s but it is faster than the 120d experienced first person many times. Especially the top speed and higher up in speeds, I just think you don’t have a clue mate tbh

jav although it’s similar it drives completely different it feels more like a petrol if I’m honest, the gearbox feels good to me, quite notchy gears I think it’s the same gearbox out of the 330d, I had a vxr before and I’m happy with mine cause I pretty much get same performance with a lot better fuel consumption.
120d Automatic vs 123d manual...
Good run from the 120d, automatic gearbox weighs more than a manual gearbox and this older automatic isnt as fast as newer automatics.
But anyway its faster than manual.
Late to the party, but here goes: I had the so-called "super light 313 styling" wheels on my 335is, and they are NOT light. Even in 18". If you want light wheels go for the 17" ATM DTM Competetion wheels. They often come with perfect IS/ET for the E81 cars. But difficult to find above 17x7.5. Good for 225/45R17, which I use for my 120D. Alternatively go for 16" steel rims, they are very ligth with 205/55R16, but more wobbly than the 17" I use these in the winter. For my 335is, I have gone 17" original BMW 157-style rims, which are the lightest I could find with correct ET/IS. I have a set of 17" ATM for that car as well, but it needs 10mm spacers.
The car won't look as bad-ass as with wide 19" wheels, but it's so much more nimble. And the ride comfort is better, too ;)
No idea why you need 19alloys on the 123d. These are significantly heavier than the 18 inch ones plus the tires are also heavier.

120d is 177cv plus 6AT ZF gearbox holds the torque at the correct positions at all time@WOT for max torque in Sport mode whereas with the 123d 6MT you need to play with the gears.
Way-this is science. 20 kw more and nothing happened. The weight is more important to.

Es gab ja das original M Performance Paket für den 120d(nur für 177PS Motor) über eine BMW Werkstatt. Ob dieses Paket heute noch angeboten und realisierbar ust, weiß ich nicht. Danach hätte man 200 PS. Ich spiele mich selbst mit dem Gedanken Hvor kurzem meinen Traum erfüllt. Einen Coupe M Paket und Vollausstattung mit unglaublichen 25000 Km 😊 von einem Liebhaber.
Honestly i doubt thats only the weels, when u pulled on the 123D i noticed the time it takes building up there, i kinda bet u have a problem on the car. I own 2 o those i can tell u they are finicky as hell they will work while having problems cause of the Biturbo sistem while the 120D will be dead if it has any turbo problem. Even tough its harder to work on the biturbo does kinda keep power when malfuntioning wich is amazing. I mesured on dyno had 190 hp fixed got to 208 hp funny part is u will notice it when fixed but if it gets fucked slowly u barelly notice.
I literally have this problem at the moment. Thinking it's a vacuum leak somewhere preventing the smaller turbo to spool correctly.

Very good video bro , most people wont understand this . Rotating weight is heaviest thing on a car . Just as if you put smaller size tire and rim on car the car will accelerate faster and have less top speed , all things to keep in mind !

I need to add that doing a comparative how fast is a car and you give different environment. One run with 18.5 degree and the other a 0.5. Put you to run in this weather will see in which one you are faster

I have a 120d with 17" standard se alloys on it. I have acs1 18" to go on when the weather is better.. will there be much difference ?

Depends on the weight, I'm assuming both sets are casted alu, hence both are heavy. Forged wheels make a difference, due to 40% less weight on unsprung mass it will improve both acceleration (by very little though) and ride comfort (quite a bit due to a much better sprung to unsprung mass, by lighter cars this plays a bigger role due to the ratio created. 12kg rim on a 2000kg car is not as bad as 12kg on a 1400kg car). Try the BBS RC3xx, they weigh around 7.6kg compared to let's say an Avus MB04 at 12.7kg.

That's true! But both these cars are 2009. :-) 125d is slightly newer weapon.
But anyway its impressive 125d's First and 2nd Gear pusshes till rise 5000 rpms or far... it's seem to be a bubble gum diésel...i have a 2.2d 175 Skyactive and it' s amazing sound arriving to 5500 rps...saving distances With theese BMW...too much faster than My Mzd 6...jjj

As an owner of an N47 the last 6 years, yes the chain is a problem, I’ve got mine done, but once it’s done the engine is fairly bullet proof, very reliable
