A dealer told me, we buy any car sell their cars at auction and their model is that while some cars may make a loss, on aggregate their stock makes a proifit. (I was told this 13 years ago though).

My experience with car finance just made me realise I don't like newer fancy cars. The short version is that I baught a 2014 ford focus zetec s on finance. Originally put my 2007 fiesta as a deposit. Before collecting the car decided to just pay the £500 deposit and kept the fiesta as a run about. Had the focus 10 months and sold it 2 months ago. Replaced it with a 1993 mitsubishi delcia. Lost £3,000 on that focus. But it was a valuable life lesson.
Ship em to other countries!!! They have loads of them here in Bolivia, they change the side of the wheel....
Anything less then a grand is shipped straight oitvthe country so the market has gone up....

Had a 2.0 litre Golf GT TDI, in black, brand new in 2005, a 1.8 mk2 Golf GTI, in black, 90 spec, in 1994, and a 1983, "y" reg in black, mk1 Golf GTI in 1993.Golf's of that era were amazing.I bought a mint black mk2 Fiesta XR2 off a friend in 1996 for £500.00- no one wanted them back then, they wanted the XR2i, which turned out to be a shite poor handling car.I now at 51, wished i' had kept all of them....such is life...
The Golf is the king. I just did a road trip from Leicester to North Norfolk in mine. Despite all the roundabouts, traffic, heavy braking from constantly being pulled out on, and the air con being on full blast, I still averaged 65mpg in total.

As a business model to buy up all the cheap second hand cars and watch the prices rise is an accountants dream... However this is short term as there are finance and storage cost but when that stock is off loaded the price's crash. Good luck with that.
I am told you can't attend an auction as as the public to bid for a car, you have to go to places like we buy any car.

Would rather have a focus. I've had both a mk1 and a mk2 and both never let me down. I don't see what the fascination is with vws. When you work at a vw dealer and repair them day in day out you realise they arnt as good as what people make them out to be.

Most cars are sold on the drip nowadays. Second-hand ones are no different. I work at a huge 2nd-hand car dealership. And the dealers get commission on selling finance I believe

Should give it back to the dealer. Car must be useable for 6 months by law . Tell him to give it back under his consumer rights. He should be entitled to a full refund.

Seeing that Golf makes me miss my MK2 Octavia 1.9tdi with only 70K miles on it when i got rid of it.What was i thinking.
ULEZ has had a huge impact on car prices in the SE of UK. Some collapsed and some jumped. Only if non or compliant...
I bought a car being told it was not compliant. I had to go to a meeting in Heathrow so went online to pay to find out it was compliant. The last owner was insistent it wasn't and was part of the reason they were selling. You need to watch Autotrader for this as they also had it as non compliant.
Unlike the game golf there is nothing wrong with the Golf cars or Toyotas no quirks just go

The main thing wrong with the Golf is that it's not a Volvo.

I really don't understand why people keep on defending german or french branded used cars. And then start to list all the things they had to fix! ??? What gives?
Those cars are NOT reliable.(specially after the warranty has expired)
Just buy a Toyota, Lexus, Mazda or Honda. Much better. Consistently higher quality mechanicals. You know, the bits that actually matter. Nothing much serious goes wrong with those Japanese brands.
(I deliberately left out Renault-owned Nissan)
I used to own a (UK-built!) Auris hybrid. Most reliable car i ever owned!
Now i drive a Lexus ct200h. It still has to prove itself but it's doing great as well. Not exciting by any measure but bloody reliable and cheap to run. In times like these that makes a lot of sense.
