    Bing got older, but he never lost his inherent youthfulness. Always quick, always relaxed, always right on the note. Amazing man.

    Bing. When I enter heaven, if I may dare hope to, I would like to walk up to him and look him in the eye and shake his hand and thank him for all the joy he has given me and countless millions, even 40 years after his passing.

      IF you go to Heaven, you won't be thinking of Bing --Jesus Christ, the Lord alone.

      Hi. There is only one way to heaven. The way is narrow and only a few will find it. Instructions are written in the Bible. Christ died so that we can know Him personally. Unless a person is born again, they cannot enter heaven. Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

      @@michaeljayklein500 Quite possible. I don’t think Bing was vain. In his early acting days, he was made to pin his ears back with special glue, he later refused.

      In contrast to Bing, Dean Martin's voice noticeably weakened starting in 1975. But Bing had it still in 1974. Not that it was the same as in the 1930s, but still strong.

    I saw Rich Little at the Riviera Casino Las Vegas in in 1975. He did a lot of singing impressions which he said at the time he rearly does for TV. The reason, he wants to save something for the paying customer. This clip show just a taste of his talent, and one of the few times he performed in music.

      My best guess is we don't have the same type of versatility in entertainment. I am also going to be as bold to say, not the caliber of entertainment we grew up with. IMHO, I tend to think this could be the reasoning for the continuous onslaught of "talent shows", and a few of the other ridiculous reality shows which have aired forever. Cheaper than real talent. 😪

    "In the key of OJ" at :57 is a reference to Bing's frequent sponsor Minute Maid orange juice. Bing would always deny owning Minute Maid, which was true, but he was a huge stockholder in it, as well as other industries, real estate, and on and on. Wealthy Bing was a tightwad, and when he found out that 2nd wife Kathy made a big donation to the Catholic Church, he took a new look at his will. He left his sons from his first marriage peanuts until they were old, but two of them committed suicide first. Kathy got an allowance from a board of trustees. But she'd get the last laugh in two ways. First, an open casket funeral for the very private Bing, which would have mortified him. Second, Kathy had COIT carpet and drapery cleaners use their Hillsborough mansion for advertising and demonstrations, including Bing's private quarters. A clever way to tell the world she got shafted and - if she believed it - a way to kick a ghost in the ass.

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle 9 років тому

      1NOgl It depends what "anything" means. I think she was cute enough for a TV career and summer stock, instead of cranking out babies for a man who was very rich but not exactly a barrel of laughs.

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle 9 років тому

      1NOgl You mean Bing's first family; Kathy had nothing to do with that. None of those four boys even made it to 70, they're all dead. I'll tell you something and there's no way you'll believe me. Nobody can read too much; reading's a terrific hobby.

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle 9 років тому

      1NOgl I just looked up The Hollow Man; I had never heard of it. I'm not sure why you keep mentioning it. Yes, you did not confuse Bing's first and second families. Also, I'm not sure about the "grabbers" thing that everyone knows. You may exclude me from "everyone" because I haven't a clue. You can explain if you like.

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle 9 років тому

      1NOgl Being substantially older than you, that is how I know more about Bing than you, and also having taken a serious interest in popular music longer than you have been extant, especially its two greatest exponents, Bing and Frank. All I know about Hollow are the 2 reviews I read about it the other day. It's about someone who could read the thoughts of others. Riddle me this: If you accuse me of being such a person, are you not claiming the ability to know what I read and what I think? Better yet... let us say buh-bye and move on.

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle 9 років тому
