This show brings back the memory of going to my grandparents house as a kid. My grandmother always seemed to have this show on her little tv in the kitchen.
Just watched a WML episode from 1957 with Jim Backus as a panelist. I was born in ‘57. Hilarious to watch that original one and then this one 13 years later. Loved that Rich Little mentioned being on Truth or Consequences with Jim Backus. I loved that show. Would like to see old episodes of that with Bob Barker.
Not only is John Daly irreplaceable, but not having a live studio audience really kills this later version. The ever “delightful” Arlene was the only saving grace. That and the fact that the men maintained tradition by standing to shake hands with women.
When you can do multiple voices, I guess it's pretty easy to fool the panel. But I loved it when Jim Backus figured it out. Rich actually does a great Magoo and Mr Howell!
If this show didn't last long I can undestand why. This was a total disaster. The emcee has no control of the panel or any part of the show for that matter.
The first iteration of What’s My Line ran from 1950 - 1967, with John Daly as host. The second iteration ran in syndication from 1968 - 75, first with host Wally Bruner and then Larry Blyden. So it ran a total of 25 years. It was never intended as an intense game show with a suspenseful buildup, but rather light entertainment with a familiar panel. But I understand if it’s not to your tastes.

Same here i remember watching what’s my line with my grandparents when i was a kid
@@battlejack1863 Probably different grandparents though, but in many ways the same 👍
Rich. Such a talented man. Still going at 84. 😁🇨🇦
Well...
Rich's Jim Bacus impersonation is hilarious.
I used to play lounges in Vegas…i met him after one of my shows….he was ON all the time.. REALLY wanted to meet my drummer…

always loved both era's of this show!!
Chad, thanks for posting these second generation WML episodes.
Here we go again, at my age I'm STILL learning something new everyday. For God sakes I've always thought that 🐸 were native to North America 😮

Not having a live studio audience? That surprises me, I must have been dead when I was at the Ed Sullivan Theater watching this show being taped.
I miss poor dorthy,she was murdered !
Miss dorthy kilgallen
There was an audience. They weren't as loud maybe but I hear people laughing and clapping.
Yes, when men were men and ladies were ladies.
I was 10 years old in 1970. Wow...
Michael Hancock died in 2021 and later in his career was Morgan Freeman’s personal makeup artist.
Oh, boy, does that comment need a rewrite.
@@ddruxman3579 I was trying to understand it, I get it.
The theme sounds like a Benny Hill sketch.
Haha brilliant that is so true

Hedy Lamarr was not only beautiful, she was smart. She was a scientist, and inventor.
Without her we would not have the technology we have today!
Good gosh. It's amazing how much modernization can ruin some things.
The frog segment was hilarious!
"The once great champion, now a study in mopishness."
For those familiar with the movie Better off Dead that was Rich's voice too.
Soupy only guessed the makeup artist so quickly because someone started to clap when he was running down the things behind the scenes of Hollywood.
I have to admit this with Rich Little is one of the few better post-John Daly Era What's My Line? shows.
Rich Little is the king of Impressionist.
After Rich little second impressions I would've guessed it.
I never could quite catch on to Soupy Sales' brand of humor. His real name was Milton Supman. Although I didn't care for him, may he rest in peace.
And I wonder how he became a regular on WML, I never heard him ask an intelligent question.
I love Rich Little and always have since I was a girl
Soupy seemed puzzled with Rich .
This host is okay but for some reason I liked "original" better. Maybe because seen so many times those old ones.
Maybe it was because the original was 1000000 better.
Yeah I can't figure out why this version is so lousy. The chemistry is off for some reason. It's still entertaining just not as good as the original.
I'm pretty sure frogs are amphibian not reptile, lol.
She just wanted the money. She wasn't answering truthfully.
Politics and Popcorn is hilarious!
At the end of the clip, the crawl says copyright 1971. Did they tape that far in advance?
Rich should've used his real voice, then he would've fooled everyone. But I guess the idea was to be funny and entertain the audience.
Sometimes he sounded like he was mimicking people even when he talked normal
They should have known he would be guessed immediately.
It must be weird hearing yourself being imitated lol.
What happened to host John Daly?
He died.
He was sill alive at the time of this revival, but had no interest in hosting it.
By the time the syndicated version came along he was 81
I miss Daly, this MC just cannot fill John's shoes. I'll pass on these later shows.
We miss Dorothy and Bennett too. These are bunch of jokers except Arlene.
Frogs are not reptiles.
Wally Bruner so much better than Larry Blyden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was on for seven years.
