Carol Burnett is still with us. She's in her 90s. Bless her. I grew up with these entertainers. I used to watch variety shows in the 60s when I was a kid. It was a great time.
Back when Hollywood had talent.
More talent in those four people than all of today's 'stars' combined.
Pearl Bailey is fabulous a real show stopper. I love her improvisation is dynamic and fits her singing so beautifully.

Amazing they all caught every hat and cane at the end. Wonder how many takes that took? Oh wait, this is when people practiced, rehearsed, and had talent!
And to think that with only three TV networks, we used to get entertainment like this EVERY WEEK! One can only sigh....

R.I.P. Bing Crosby (1903-1977), Pearl Bailey (1918-1990) and Bob Hope (1903-2003). Carol Burnett is the ripe old age of 88 years old. Bing and Pearl died in their early 70's and Bob Hope lived to the ripe old age of 100 years old!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Pearl and Carol, really amusing wry talents played out. Those two guys just did great bold routines. Love them.

Pearl, could sing the note off the page. And I always thought of Carol as a comedian but that woman could, also sing! I miss the days when Hollywood did their job, and simply, entertained with their talent.
Wow! These four incredible talents worked HARD on this number. It's almost as if they were performing in an opera. An eight minute musical number put together, probably, in about a day, is no easy feat. I think it's wonderful how the respect the original intention of the number - and still find room to bring their own personalities - and a few old tunes - into the medley. This is definitely on of my UA-cam favorites!

Star Sky I doubt they worked HARD on this number. Pearl was phoning that performance in along with fumbling the words... Bob and Carol wereless than stellar with the vocals also, they were good with their signature songs. And Bing wasa little better than the rest, thats because it was his show and he had more time, I suppose
How do you know what they did? They Phone you up and tell you?
This was easy for them. They did it all the time. Not dismissing them, just stating facts. Another day at the office.

Gosh, I'm 53 and Bob was all over the tv. In The early 80's. I fell in love with the most incredible human (I was 12,). And then my mom surprised me with tickets. I didn't laugh once¡ but I was in total shock, the only child at a nightclub. I wish I wasn't so shy, but hey... I saw him, he read my letter stating "money for me?" While Deloris sang Swonderful. As GREAT as it was, I couldn't ask him for his autograph. I mean, he's my idol, I'm the only 12 yr old at The joint. But hey im546

Just so you folks know who you are looking at. *Bob has 5 honorary Oscars, Congressional gold medal, Kennedy center honoree, Golden Globe and Cecil DeMille awards, and Presidential medal of Freedom, TV Hall of Fame. *Carol has 6 Emmys, 7 golden globes, 3 tony awards, 3 grammys, 2 peabodys, and a SAG life acheivement, Kennedy Center Honoree, Presidential medal of Freedom, and Mark Twain prize for American Humor. *Pearl has Daytime Emmy, Presidential Medal of Freedom, Donaldson Award, Special tony award, SAG Life Achievement, The Bronze Medallion by New York City, and USO woman of the year 1969. *Bing has a best actor Oscar, 4 traditional grammys and Grammy Global Achievement, 3 separate Hollywood Hall of Fame Stars , he was inducted in the Radio, Hit Parade, Western Music and Popular Music Halls of fame.
AND … this was regular TV entertainment! Our golden age, and we did not know it. 😞
Brian Turner: Pearl Bailey received an honorary Tony Award for HELLO, DOLLY! and that wasn’t mentioned. But I don’t believe that Carol Burnett as 3 Tony Awards; what shows?

It says this " She also received 3 Tony Awards and 3 Grammy Awards nominations, winning one of each.[62][63]" If you don't finish the entire sentence you just get "she received 3 tony awards and .... It turns out that she 1. won special award in 1969 (but I have yet to learn exactly what for) . 2. She was nominated for Once Upon a Mattress and 3 nominated for Moon over Buffalo in 1994. I apologize for the confusion.
