I make my own boilies too, and I fish for a bite by using a small amount of bait, then maybe adding more like you said 👍🏻 great video Simon 👌🏻 you can add bait but not take away
At last somebody talking sense without a hidden agenda ..IE , trying to get us to buy a certain product ...very refreshing to see a informative inteligent no strings attached viog ..that is trying to actually help the angler, and not blag them ..well done simon 👏👏
Always used small leads and minimal bait 5-6 boilees and bit of pellet cleaned up my first year when i moved to liverpool and fished stanley park, had a few of the known fish also fished on bottom no pop up. nice tips! and nothing beats float fishing in the margin with meat first thing in the morning.
Once again , another superb video Simon . No blatant bait or tackle plugs , or hidden agenda . It's just so refreshing to watch content like this . The double baits mounted on a spaghetti ' spike ' I use , and for the double hookbait there are then options to mix and match , so to speak . I.e . 1 bottom bait and 1 pop up , 2 bottom baits , etc . , you can acheive all kinds of buoyancies . And I also think the double hookbait gives them a spot of bother , it's more difficult to eject . Thanks again , great stuff 👍👏
Great info just shows that you are in tuned to how you have to fish day ticket lakes unlike other media anglers that think you can go looking for them if you're not catching
I always find wearing my head torch in the day is a great tip. Also baiting up is great on quiet waters but not so great on the busy waters we now experience.
Yes it's definitely getting harder to bait up which is why it pays to find areas not many people fish every lake is different but there are still lakes that are quiet they just require more effort to find them. As for the head torch I find I always loose it if it's not round my neck and it's harder to find once it's dark 😂😂
Fantastic vid....LOADS of great ideas, all in one video! I am always looking for a different approach to everyone else and have found a lot of these little tips to make the difference between a blank and a fish or two.
Great video Simon full of great tips which alot of the young anglers should take note of as they have all been brain washed by all the BIG TACKLE & BAIT COMPANIES. You must use this rod or hooks ect. Just yesterday I was fishing doing well and them a group of junior anglers came along within 10 minutes the fishing was dead as it was a air-raid of spods for about 30mins. I have nothing against young anglers we all have to learn that's why I do most of my fishing mid week. I am old school yes worm bread maggots sweetcorn luncheon meat. What you say is true 99% OF anglers forget the fish are under your feet and margins all the time what do all anglers do when changing bait drop the old bait in the lake at your feet. Many thanks Simon will look out for more of your videos. Steve
I always fish with backleads even when I fish a rod length out. I also try to keep my rods over the ground when margin fishing so my rods arent looking like a straight branch over the water and I sit much further back from the water. I've seen a fish stop patrolling a route the moment my rod was there.
I agree fish definitely spook off rods hanging over the water and lines too! Iver even seen fish warning other fish away from danger by pushing them off a spot. We just need to do everything we can to avoid them detecting us 🙌
I tend to just take them out of the freezer and go fishing or as said in the video soak them in lake water to soften them and reduce flavour levels. Make sure you have some hookbaits that are harder though or you'll loose your bait off the hair👍
I did forget the main things I do differently - 1 to 2 meter rig tubing heavy as you can get and captive back leads - I like my lines to be as close to the lake bottom as possible from as close to my rod tips So cast out let line sink with a slack line then slide the captive back leads so they hit the lake bottom a max of a couple of feet in front of rod tips then gently tighten up.
I actually prefer a heavy lead where possible as it hooks the fish better and trips them up but yes you can definitely fish further with a lighter lead when using a boat which would be an advantage in some situations 😉
I totally agree with you Simon this year I've been taking more note of what people are doing on the lake I'm fishing the first lake I was ment to fish there was so many lines in the water I asked the owner Mike if I could fish the other lake as there virtually no one on there and fished it away from everyone else which was no mean feat as I was in the teeth of the wind at minus what ever plus with snow coming and ended up with to 30s both of which were PBs the second second lake was the same situation I changed lakes on that one most people use bait boats so I fished double small popups no freebies and ended up with another 30 on a lake that really hadn't woken up yet so totally agree
Qaulity watch & info.....always fished my club lake's differently to everyone else to many anglers follow the crowd onto the next adventure tightlines look forward to the next vid 🎣👊
No idea why but I always have fished my leads inline or normal so they not fixed in anyway. Every lake I go to theses days its watch every one spod to the middle of the lake and cast there where as I fish (depending on depth of margins) maybe 2 to 3 foot from the bank to maybe 2 rod lengths out. Last trip to a non run local water group of 3 guys there for 3 days had 3 fish total - I had 26 in 24 hours with the owner telling me he was going to ban me till the fish got there pride back (previous 2 trips did between 10 and 30 fish each visit). I these days very rarely use pop ups either pure bottom bait of a matching wafter. When pop ups where a new thing I used to use them on a few waters but if I want a bait of the bottom I go for a zig. I find watching whats the hot tip on you tube the best thing to know to avoid as everyone will be doing the same within a short period of time :D Never follow the herd
way to much thinking in carp fishing ,im glad i just go fishing i dont worry about all this crap ,you are giving the carp to much credit , carp ONLY get caught because they eat if they were that clever they would simply die of hunger ,think about that ,
People fish for different reasons and I totally understand you want to go and switch off by the lake but I think if we're going to spend all that time and money doing something then we may as well try to do it to the best of our ability. This involves a little thought and effort to get the best chance of a result. Once the rods are out its up to the carp so that's when I switch off 🍻
@@SimonDewCarpFishing do your own thing that is what life is all about ,but the carp are just fish ,they dont have the intelligence you and other fisher men are painting them with , they either get hooked or they do not its shown in the under water vids ,fishermen just like to add the loch ness monster affect , just listen to the best at that and that is jeremy wade , he should have a oscar , i never spent a fortune on fishing as a kid but i had a great time just fishing ,
Let us know how you try to be different in your fishing?
I make my own boilies I find I catch more with them especially dumbell shaped ones

Thanks for your comment mate much appreciated. I definitely agree double baits are harder to eject and you often get deeper hook holds because of it 😊

Cheers mate much appreciated. I don't think I'm doing the northern show this year

Definitely pays to think about what others are doing and then do the opposite 😉
I tried raw prawns to be different! Turns out eels love them 🤣.

Never tell any one what bait I use 😂😂😂or my prep learn that the hard way 😂😂
