Unbelievable the beauty of those lovely 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's women.

Very interesting story behind how Fabares ended up singing her Johnny Angel song. Recorded in 1961 when she was only 16. The song was released in 1962, reached the number 1 hit song on Billboard's Hot 100 on April 7, 1962 after a 15 week run on the Billboard chart, and sold over a million copies earning her a gold record status..

      I was just 7. I remember Shelley.
She was daughter Mary on The
      Donna Reed Show. You are
right, my friend, those were times
      when decency ruled. Not like
      now. @@ChillyChase

I was not born yet either, (seven years before I was born) but I just know times were far nicer and simpler than today. Also, that may have been 62 years ago to be exact(it’s June 2024 as I comment) but I can still recognize “Christine Armstrong, Coach Hayden Fox’s girlfriend and subsequent second wife,” ha ha(reference to Shelley Fabares having played Hayden’s girlfriend Christine on Coach, of course.) Such a great singing voice.

Entertainment wise, yes. Family wise , yes, but JFK, RFK, MLK, Vietnam, Cold War, race riots, drugs, hippies, protests, and KKK.
I remember the 60s as well, and for entertainment a family they were great...but.
      50s:Cold war, Korea.
      70s:Vietman, Watergate, Oil embargo.
80s: Beruit, Wars in Central America, Iran/Contra, Terrorism, Greneda,
And we wont talk about the 2000s.
      Always something.
The difference between 50s & 60s and others years? God and family were prominent in the American fabric. There will always be trouble, but we can get back to a safer place.
      2 Chonicles 7:14
"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

Lyndon "Butcher" Johnson took us into that Vietnam disaster in an attempt to divert attention from his domestic policy failures. Two thirds of the local class of 66's males went to Vietnam, and 15% of them died there -- for nothing.

If you’re referring to actor Craig T Nelson (who played Coach Hayden Fox, opposite Christine, played by Shelley Fabares on Coach), he’s 80 now; he turned 80 on April 4.

For me this is Shelly's song, Karen Carpenter may have had a better voice, but it is young girl's song as it is a dreamy song, and so for me Shelly Fabares sings it better.

Women nowadays would be horrified by this song they would be really terrified. Back when a woman would actually have to tell you their feelings before they ever open their legs because you actually had to marry them before they even thought of going that far.
