You can also hook up an affordable Blue Tooth unit too, via the IP Bus port in the rear of the radio. There are many options you can do with that IP Bus port. Such as an auxillary input. But you have to enable the Auxillary Input, as it's off from the factory.

Nice tutorial, these stupid dash kits always come with the “pocket” warped. I prefer the kits without the pocket part.

Thank you so much for this video. I picked up the exact same pioneer unit to put in my 2004 ranger. Funny enough I had bought the same dash kit and was very discouraged when that didn't fit. I ended up picking up that metra kit and like you said works like a dream! Keep making awesome videos, I wish your channel well!

I have a 95 Ford Ranger what are the speaker wires positive and negative front and rear? What harness did you buy and how did you mount the stereo kit?

You be surprised at the huge mark up on ICE (in car equipment) I used to be a UK Buyer for the biggest ICE wholesale and had direct accounts with all the main suppliers i.e jvc, sony, kenwood, panasonic etc.... What is surprising is the front panels cost more to buy then a new unit as front panels are classed as spares and discounting and settlement and rebait is different. We also used to work for all the main insurance companys as theft replacement as actutal pushed for theft replacement to be stopped.

Why not get the top and bottom of the truck bed and get it sprayed with a few layers of Rhino Liner and that should be that, be aware that sometimes the radio is tied into the car immobilizer and is used to enter codes to turn off the immobilizer and you might not be able to enter codes if the radio is changed.

I bought the same dash kit and it seems to fit fine but I can not figure out how to get the kit to stay in the dash.

The Metra instructions are garbage but if you fight through it you'll figure it out in the end. I failed to find a video that actually explained the assembly process. One thing I noticed is people keep trimming the Ford plastic. You DO NOT have to do this. I can only assume everyone is failing to remove the top tabs COMPLETELY. They are shaped like an L... you must remove the ENTIRE tab leaving no evidence it was there. You will not have to trim anything stock in your Ford Ranger if you do this. It took me over an hour just on assembly (and about 5 minutes on the wiring) in the end I have a nice clean looking install. I haven't really seen anyone else's look bad, I just don't like modifying stock parts, that's why we buy these kits!

I have a question. I have an 03 Ranger and about the same Pioneer stereo. My installation kit came with a rear bracket to mount on the stereo like the factory radio had. The problem is that there is a heat sink on the Pioneer where the bracket should go. I drive on some rough roads and terrain, so I think I should use the bracket to help hold and stabilize the stereo. Has anyone attached that bracket or similar bracket to a Pioneer or other stereo with that heat sink in the way?
