If it’s worth anything, Joe Elliot in an interview once said he didn’t care about lyrics, just what the words sounded like together. He referenced Let It Go’s opening verse, specifically the last line “Get ready for the big C”. He said that line is just a line that seemed to fit. Might explain their lack of growth in that area.
Love this!! I could talk about Def Leppard all day, so it's great to hear from others who can too! Really enjoying this channel. Just have to point out White Lightning on Adrenalize is about Steve Clark and addiction - so they did get deep on that song at least. My top 5, although it is so hard to narrow down the best from my favorite band ever: 5. On Through The Night 4. High n Dry 3. Adrenalize 2. Pyromania 1. Hysteria
Great discussion fellas. Def Leppard was always a band on my peripheral and it wasn’t until the last couple years I started to notice how many really great songs I like that just so happened to be written by Leppard. Been checking them out a little more here lately. Love the channel.
Another great rankings video on one of my favourite bands. I've been a fan of the show for several months now and always look forward to a new one. Cheers, Russ from Sydney, Australia 😎🤘
This is James Anthony another great video my ranking for the albums are High N Dry Pyromania On Through The Night Hysteria Adrenalize Keep on rockin my brother your videos never disappoint
People can rip on Adrenalize all they want. However, the fact remains it spent 5 straight weeks at #1, went triple-platinum in the U.S. alone, and produced 4 Top 40 hits during the height of the grunge era. Very impressive.
This is good discussion to all of your opinions on Def Leppard albums. As for Adrenalize surprised nobody has mentioned White lightning & Tonight. Two of the best tracks in my opinion. I can listen to all 5 albums. Agree with you on Retro Active. Good album RATT n Roll 🤘🏻nice shirt
Thanks, Brother, and we will! These have been a lot of fun to do. Did you see the Tesla Roundtable on the Rock Resurgence Radio channel? Let me know what you thought!
great discussion guys. here are my top 5 (noting that I love them all, but mine are based on least listened to up to most listened to). 5. On Through The Night 4. High N Dry 3. Adrenalize 2. Pyromania 1. Hysteria
Another great panel discussion! My ranking from 80-92: 1) Pyromania 2) High 'n' Dry 3) On Through the Night 4) Hysteria 5) Adrenalize Even though I have Hysteria at 4, I still really love that album. Those first 4 albums are some of my favorite in the genre. I like Adrenalize, but songs like "Make Love Like a Man" are the reason it's my least favorite of the 5 . Just saw Def Leppard last month and they were excellent
Thanks, Matt! I saw Def Leppard in 2022 and still phenomenal. And I'm right with you with Pyro and High N Dry at 1 and 2! Thanks for your support, Brother!
I lived in West Germany from 1980-85. I partied with Def Leppard in a night club in Belgium before our American High School Football game as they walked into the club after they had their Pyromania Tour concert. We played our high school football game the next morning and we were all throwing up from drinking all night.
Thank you all for another great watch !! I think everybody's list was right. All good stuff, just a matter of preference. Mine would be: 5. Adrenalize 4. On Through The Night 3. Hysteria 2. Pyromania 1. High N' Dry Looking forward to next show & take care my friend !!
Great show guys. Hey GURU. I'm also a ballad fan. after putting together a 10 hour + metal ballad mix. i discovered Def Leppard's, bringin' on the heartbreak is the first metal power ballad. Every band since it's release has copied the blue print. Correct me if I'm wrong bud. Cheers from Australia
If you asked me in 1988 it goes: 1. Hysteria. 2. Pyromania. 3. High N Dry 4. On through the night. If you ask me today it is: 1. Pyromania 2. Hysteria. 3. High N Dry 4. On through the night 5. Adrenalize. If Slang had came out in 1992 instead of Adrenalize it would have fit perfectly in the new music scene of the early 90s. Now it came out a bit too late. A decent album though.
The only band I have been lucky enough to see twice (28th June 2013 w/ Whitesnake and Europe and 24th June 2023 w/ Crüe). Pete Willis also released an EP called I Will Be There with his supergroup Gomagog 3/5s of Iron Maiden and the bassist of Whitesnake Neil Murray. I know Adrenalize is 5 and On Through the Night is 4 but those other 3 completely flip flop.
... And the dissing of Love Bites continues! I understand what the lefties mean now by the term 'triggered'! 5. Adrenalize - Terrible, like the group has mentioned, atrocious childish songs, I don't even think it was great musically. The times were changing and styles change. They left behind the 80s. Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad is too sickly, power ballads should have some 'oompf', far too sickly. My first Lepp gig though (1992?) as I didn't have older adult siblings who would have took me to the tours for Hysteria and Pyro with me being under 16 at those times. Luckily they played the main songs from Hysteria and Pyro, so it was great all in! Even though PSSOM isn't one of my faves these days it was an incredible show opener and it's an experience I will remember all my life! 4. On Through The Night - A bit before my time as a rocker. Just because I'm English doesn't mean I was into the NWOBHM scene. I'm a US LA scene hair metal rocker! 3. High N Dry - Bringin' On The Heartbreak and the glorious Lady Strange! They called Clark and Collen the 'Terror Twins' but Steve and Pete were something else on that album!!!! 2. Hysteria - I have to be objective here as I can't think with my heart! The first albums I got from these monster bands back then mean a lot to me, my first steps into the genre I love so much! Slippery and Hysteria are nothing less than holy icons. but, yes, from my vantage point in the future, yes Hysteria is very poppy and over produced now... A full 3rd of the album I can take or leave and a few of the songs are too childishly silly for me with some gobbledygook lyrics to match, looking at you Rocket, Pour Some Sugar On Me and Armageddon It, (even though I still enjoy them somewhat nowadays, but not like I did back then)... But... What are you guys saying there! WOMEN and Love Bites are shit songs! Get out of town yeah! WOMEN is the perfect rockers song! Why did these guys like Motley and Poison and Ratt start bands?!?!? to get the girls!!! WOMEN is an iconic song in rock history! Love Bites! Jeebus! It doesn't matter how many times we've heard these songs, which is a lot coz we were there when they came out! A perfect power ballad is a perfect power ballad! WOMEN and Animal are my top 2 and 3 Lepp songs! But, yeah, Hysteria hasn't stood the test of time on a sound/tone standpoint, sure! 1. The might Pyromania!!!!! Some of the greatest songs in rock history here! The incredible Photograph, My fave Lepp song! The Lepp's greatest song and one of rocks most iconic songs of all time! Foolin', Too Late For Love, Comin' Under Fire! Thank The Emperor this music has been a part of my life for all 52 trips round the sun I've been on! Billy's Got A Gun is prob the only track on the album I'm not keen on... Very nearly a flawless album! Steve and Pete's playing is beyond question some of the best!!! Thanks for another great discussion Guru! You lot get better looking by the day! The female viewing figures must be going through the roof by now!! The great Steve 'Steamin' Clark.... Gone but never, ever, fuckin' forgotten!!!

1. High N Dry, 2. Pyromania a great two album run like AC/DC Highway and Back In Black or Aerosmith Rock and Toys 3.On Through the Night only has bad production. I love Saxon 4.
