  • In this video, we will share tips and techniques on how to apply a beautiful CA glue finish to your wood.
    𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: 𝗖𝗔 𝗚𝗟𝗨𝗘 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
    - Apply a generous amount of Starbond Thin CA Glue and Starbond Medium CA Glue on the wood.
    𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦
    - For the best results, be sure to sand your work thoroughly - detailed sanding means going through each grit stages and sanding all the way up through every grit you have.
    - Start with 80 grit and went all the way up to 220, and then I went from 220 all the way up to 2000. If you are sanding at higher grits, you can choose whether to use wet or dry sanding.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝗢𝗙𝗙 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧
    - Keep your project as dust-free as possible. Applying a finish over dust will cause the finish to have a cloudy base, and you don't want that. Once you have thoroughly cleaned your project, it is time to apply your CA glue wood finish.
    𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟰: 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗔 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗛
    - Start with Starbond Thin CA glue and turn the lathe down to its slowest speed. Be sure to wear gloves and wear eye protection.
    - Apply Starbond CA Thin as a base coat to your piece. Keep in mind that you won't need a lot of pressure in doing this.
    - Hit it with the ca glue accelerator, and let that sit for about two to five minutes to make sure that it is fully cured.
    - Once you're sure that this finish is fully cured, come back with your higher grit sandpaper. Use 2000 grits to scuff the top surface.
    - Light pressure must be applied when sanding down an uneven layer of CA glue. Everything needs to be matte and dull, as this will give you a better finish.
    - Once you’ve gotten the base layer down to a nice, clean, flat finish, you’re then ready to apply another layer of CA glue.
    - Begin switching from thin CA glue to medium CA glue, which will allow you to apply more coats quicker.
    𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟱: 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚
    - Once you're satisfied with your general wood finish, you can then move on to polishing with the glue.
    - When adding your polish compound, you just want to make sure that you are layering it on thick enough that it can absorb into any of those micro scratches that have formed from sanding.
    - Make sure that you read the directions on how to best apply the compound that you get and how long you should wait for it to dry.
    - Once you've waited the allotted amount of time for your compound to dry, you can then begin to polish it.
    - Use polishing disc to polish and wipe off that compound and pushing it into all of those micro scratches that were formed before.
    - Speed and pressure are definitely helpful when it comes to finishing this up, so turn your lathe up and apply some pressure.
And that’s how you can take an ordinary piece of wood into a stunning high gloss finish.

Wish you had gone over parting it off. What did you do to make the finish look even after your parted it off the waste wood?

HELLO, IF YOU PUT A FINISH OF THIS ON SOMETHING THAT HAS PAINT ON IT, WILL IT SMEAR THE PAINT??? AFTER A WHILE YOU HAD THAT ON AN OBJECT WILL IT TURN INTO A DINGY YELLOW INSTEAD OF ALWAYS BEING CRYSTAL CLEAR???

Before applying it to a painted surface, we recommend doing a spot test to see if the paint will smear. And it can possibly turn yellow over time, especially if exposed to a lot of direct sunlight. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask! Thanks and have a great day!

@@StarbondAdhesivesHey, great video. I'm wondering if this can be used on an ash guitar body with a thick polyurethane finish. The guitar was knocked off its stand and has a thin semi circal crack. No dint, just the finish has a cracked, almost shattered appearance. I could take it to a luthier, but thinking of trying to repair it myself. The finish is a yellow colour, so as you mentioned overtime, aging yellow would be ok. Any advice is appreciated. Cheers. 6:38 6:38

Sorry but I've got to agree with a previous comment, great video but I couldn't stand the music! Can hardly hear what you are saying. This would be so much better without the noise. Your voice is just about background level and the music is foreground. I'm not trying to be rude just being honest IMHO.

That noise collectively referred to as music is obnoxious and detracts from an otherwise good video
