    I've raced RC cars, both on and off road since the 80s. I've never had any luck with anything other than Losi or Associated. I've raced RC10s since the beginning, but I raced 4wd mod with Losi in the early 2000s and had a lot of success. I'm currently racing an Associated 4wd buggy and 2wd Slash on comp classes with some decent success.

    RC racing culture seems to have changed a bit since I was a kid. There would be fist fights over Losi and Associated being the best back in the 90s. I remember it being high heresy if you owned both brands lol.

    Its all about the driver and setup. Minus traxxas, at a high level, xray, associated, tlr, etc are all good. The best parts support in your area is also something to consider

      I mean, you could technically even make a Traxxas vehicle competitive, and how difficult that is depends on the class. The JATO was competitive in 1/10th scale nitro truck pretty much out of the box (and apparently still is, even against the Ignite Designs conversions) and the Slash 4x4 LCG can hang with higher-end 4WD SCTs at a club level, but something like a Bandit, well, you've seen how much work MXAcres had to put into the Bandito to get it to run with the full-on race cars.

    "Best mfg of RC cars today"....that question depends on usage. Racing, bashing, scale driving, shelf queen?

      That's a shame, those brands make really good cars - in particular, Schumacher makes THE best stadium truck on the market and Yokomo's buggies can literally be described as "Associated but slightly faster, at the cost of being slightly less durable". And Serpent makes RTRs of their racing kits that are competitive right out of the box. But I guess at the end of the day what sells is generally what you can get parts for at the track. And that creates a feedback loop where the shop only carries parts for the cars their customers run.

    HB, Kyosho, Mugen is the best

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 8 місяців тому

      For 1/8th scale, definitely. Kyosho might be for 1/10th scale but outside of touring cars HB only ever made one 1/10th scale platform in the past and Mugen doesn't make any.
