Very positive segment. A quote from the video and valuable message for humanity. "I think you see this in captivity so often because these animals (apex predators) are taken care of. They're not competing for food. They're not stressed. So, they have this luxury of being able to be social with other animals."
Yes..."in a 'perfect' world"...but that world has flown. We're still working on destroying it. It's only going to get worse as the population grows, and the planet becomes an unsustainable one for us and every other living thing.
The same rule generally applies to the human mammal (animal). In my limited travels around the planet it plays out the same; the less money, assets and positive interactions a group of humans have the more violent. More money, resources and positive mental stimulation(especially when young) the more peaceful. Of course poorer neighborhoods will have peaceful people and the richer neighborhoods will have violent people but in general the rule holds just like in the animal kingdom.
I love this story! The Animal Farm residents and their Lady are so cool! What a lovely place for life to heal, to bond, and to love. This is a "Heaven On Earth" oasis. Much gratitude to the life saver who loves and owns the Animal Farm, this safe space, the sanctuary, the wonderful home for a beautiful great big family!

As a “huge animal lover” this makes me smile so brightly. So much, more needed in this world, I’m putting this, on my bucket list. 🧡🙏🏾🧡 Ah I got tears nearly!!
If my husband would let me, I'd turn our 4+ acres of property into a sanctuary but I don't have that luxury at the moment. I pray that will change one day. Until then, I'll enjoy our chickens and cats to the fullest. Thank you for sharing this story. It's an inspration.
Anyone who thinks they have no emotions or are not sentient, has either never owned pets or never figured out how to relate to them. It's obvious to most who have had pets and paid any attention to their behavior.
This is just amazing in all facets. Such a beautiful and wonderful lady giving back where it is needed. A true Mother Theresa. A true hero. Who cares about the movie star or the NBA player. This is the real, real, real star and her pets. Beautiful and incredible in all facets.
Of course animals have feelings and emotions. I've seen it over and over again in my own life. If only human beings were more like the animals in this way. Our world would be a paradise instead of a war zone.
Anyone who has had two dogs, two cats, or a cat and a dog (etc.) knows without question that animals become attached to each other. I’ve witnessed and lived through the grief our animals felt when they lost their significant other. It would be foolish to think they don’t have at least some of the same emotions as humans (love, anger, jealousy, fear, grief).
How outstanding of her and admirable and caring and loving and sweet to carry on her sweet mother's legacy. We need more like her. And her concept of friendship would end all quarrels, wars and gun violence in the world. Thank you so very much for sharing this remarkable animal farm rescue story. 😍🤩👑♥️💓❤️💞🍄🇺🇸💫💦
This is a fantastic story and place. Laurie has truly captured what we all need to do, for animals and for each other. She's got a great personality as well. May Funny Farm grow and prosper, and may all her animals stay healthy and happy.
I took in another feral kitten last week. It took about 35 minutes for her to become a domestic housecat...lol. My mom told me I can't save them all. I told her I can't, but I will keep going with the ones I can save. I'm only up to a dozen so far, but those dozen now have great lives. The pay and the hours suck, but it's worth it in the end.
I wish I could have a life like her I love animals, wish her happiness and health to continue her beautiful life , if she needs help I love to do so 🙏🐣🐔🐶🐰🐮🐷🦆🐱🐔🙏❤️🙏
Whoever thinks that animals have no emotions …. Obviously never spent any meaningful time with animals. I know Horses well, and not only do they have deep emotional lives and make bonded relationships…they also are incredibly sensitive to other’s emotions, like a giant antenna. For example: Nervous riders make horses worried /anxious because they wonder what the rider is nervous about. Horse’s emotional connection with humans make them incredibly valuable in therapeutic areas- and equine therapy has become more and more common as people discover their amazingly generous presence.
Lion, tiger and bear were residents at Noah's Ark in Locust Grove, Ga sanctuary. Another, very calm place to visit. Monatary donations are appreciated as well as food for the animals.
This why I'm a vegetarian My father was native American and he told me not to eat anything that has emotions or your belly will hurt from the fear they felt before they were slaughtered. He was right everytime I ate meat I got sick. Miss you Daddy.
Beautiful story. Animals so often respond and react according to human expectations of them. Henry Beston said it best: “We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate for having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein do we err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.”
Laurie is a genuinely lovely woman and her work with the animals is not just supported by donations, she also works a full time job to help keep it running. The Funny Farm is a great charity to support.
I absolutely love this! There are so many lessons we can take from this. But will we? We have wounded, polarized people at each other, and heartless senseless violence...so very sad.
To help support this wonderful sanctuary buy her book "Funny Farm"! Buy extra copies for gifts too. Request it at your local library if they don't already have it. Most libraries have a feature where you can ask for a new book to be brought in. They will usually require the name of of the author, Laurie Zaleski in addition to the title.

Laurie Zelensky and her Funny Farm are a fabulous example of animal rescue at its best. Thank you so much for the work you do !

Moving story ... and a great example of how to live in harmony ...
All animals are like humans in a different form. They have the same wants, needs and emotions are any human being on earth.
Human beings always want more, greedy. Animals are content with full stomachs
I always consider animals as 'sentient beings' like us.
Life as the blessing a female animates all of existence with. Emotions are the miracle of life.
@JoeBidenIsTrash 1 Exactly... we're just on a different level. Living their best lives because of the kindness and compassion of this special woman.
You’re ABSOLUTELY correct 😊
