Today I finally reveal which engine is getting swapped into my BMW E30! This had to be the hardest decision I've ever had to make when it comes to modifying cars. Not only does it take a good chunk of change to do it properly, but it's also very time consuming. Which is why I needed to get it right the first time! Not only will this legendary engine completely change/modernize the driving dynamics of my 31 year old E30, but it'll also make it a timeless build. S52, S54, S65, LS?!

The love you have for that car is conveyed in your words. You’ve got true passion for it, and that will push you to see it through. I worked at a place back in the late 80s, where I caught my first glimpse at a 325. 🤩 I’d like to see you hang on to it, and show us the slow transformation. On the note of fuel - for years I would fill with my car with two brands of premium gas, including Shell. Ever since I watched your on-site Shell episode, I won’t use anything else. 👍🏼
The 4 cylinder was a m10, I’d go with the 5 speed out of the e36. Honestly like the e30 content more, it be awesome if you do more videos on her.
In Europe mostly swaps for e30 have an s54 engine with an adapted manual like your e46 and an e36 m3 differential. Keep up the good work. It's gonna be very costly to finish the build, my advice is leave the e30 on the long play but put quality stuff in it, and play more with the e46 and e93 if they bring u more money, but don't forget the lists videos. 👍👍👍

90 325is owner here. Found your channel the other day and binged watched the E30 content. Needless to say I hit that subscribe button real quick like. Hope to see more E30 content soon! Your interior came out great! Excellent work on those sport seats. Glad you kept them. IMO they look super cool and are comfortable as hell. I like them more than the sport seats in my M340i.
I say stick with it, every e30 will have surprises. You can do it man and I can't wait to see more. Although, I hate rust more than anything. Make sure there's no other rust in the typical areas. The practical enthusiast went through the same thing. Lots of rust in difficult areas, and considered giving up on the car. But he brought that car back to life.

I think this car is just one of those things that grows through time. Until you actually start to pull the engine, paint the car, and really start to see it come into its own, only then will you see the results of your hard work translate into views! Honestly bro I feel your pain been there many times. The best advice I can give you especially if you want to keep the car and make it mint is get a clean example with minimal rust and structural issues. Its not worth it I promise lol you'll appreciate it in the long run when the car doesn't kick you in the face everytime you try to repair it

My man, you answered your own question to us by how effusive you became about wanting to "do it right". Appreciate the content bro! I remember I commented on your original e30 intro video asking about the rust around the sunroof. I know it is a difficult/expensive fix. If you figure out a good solution, please let us know. My 91 e30 which is otherwise pretty mint has a couple bubbles under the paint around the sunroof. I’ve been too afraid to inspect further just in case it turns out to be as bad as yours hahaha. I’ve thought about doing the s54 swap but not going to invest too much money in the car until I know the body is mint and worth the investment.
same exact thing for me with my e30 its been hit in the front and the back and i am taking it to get a professional body shop to get fixed the right way so it looks stock fresh from factory and i am painting it imola red and putting a s52 in it i was gonna go s54 but i am going to college so i gotta save some money then in the futur i will go s54

I think the journey of rebuilding this car will be worth more than it cost cause it's personal to you. I want to be able to do something like this with cars I love one day. So I say go for it if it means that much to you. 👍🏾

I feel the same especially with rust on my e30 I spent all summer getting rid of it and then the more I work on suspension and etc I notice more of it and it’s demoralizing but nonetheless I still love it and will likely keep it forever
How are you tackling the rust?
@@fuckingallthesehoes3295 I started with a wire wheel and bondo because I was getting repainted at the time and it hasn’t come back yet and it’s been almost two years but if you want to be 100% I would definitely cut out and weld in new panels I didn’t go that route because I didn’t have the money or experience

sunroofs are cool but a pain... consider slick top. save money for the rest of the car. get it on the road :)
either way you go its your car and you shouldnt worry about how it's gonna make you look. Do what makes sense for you and what will give you forward movement. If you have the time, keep it and fix it, if you wanna hurry up and get it moving by a better on and swap your interior then sell the rest as parts and recoup the bread, thats what I would do
If you were more mechanically inclined I would say go for it. But it seems like the best option is to Let It go. But if you want more views on the E30, swap a k24 in it with a sk2 trans and I guarantee you get more views and save money.

So, I'm currently in the process of building my E30, already did an entire suspension overhaul. Still debating whether to restore the M20 which needs a new/used cylinder head or do an engine swap. To me, an E30 project is like a spiritual experience to test my own fortitude and resilience lol.

Once you start working on the car and documenting the engine swap, body work etc you’ll get more views. Stick with it and I can’t wait to see the final product!
Where i live in lebanon u can find an e30 in very good condition and modded for like 800$ to 1500$
You should do a diy carbon fiber roof skin with a sunroof cutout its really cheap to make carbon fiber parts yourself
I feel you brother, E30 are keepers trust me... Get a cleaner body or roof skin & rebuild your baby, budget will determine your path. It's a long & expensive road, but it will be worth it trust me...

What if you reply the roof with BMP carbonfiber roof so you never have to worry about the rust! Amazing choice on the engine s54 going to look amazing in e30 please upload a videos on the swap.
Use a 3.91 diff with 40% lsd and the e46 m3 6speed you will have a blast best combo you can do don’t go with the 5 speed please it’s the cheaper option but in my opinion it’s much better to go with the six it feels much better
Don't give up on her if it was easy everyone would be restoring e30 once completed it will bring you so much pride and happiness
