I recently finished printing and painting your K98k (I bought it from your cults account). I didn't manage to find a fitting spring for the magazine mechanism and trying to chain up hair clips as you suggested didn't work out for me. But it looks quite nice overall, I went for a realistic paintjob. If you want I can send some photos. Just let me know how you would like to receive them.
