I would like to get into 3d printing but have no idea where to start. I would love to make models of all the weapons I used during my military career and have them look as realistic as possible, I’m sure it’s just a pipe dream. Great work, I’m truly envious!
@Traveller473, Don't be so sure about that, man, pipe dream is something that u can't achieve at all, while designing and 3D printing items is not rocket science, at least if you want them to just look real (and not work like real ones), I mean, I was thinking just like you couple years ago and now I'm making many things for myself and it's getting more and more easy every time to design and print smth, get yourself any good entry level printer that you can afford and just try to make some things, good place to start is something like Creality Ender 3, or Flyingbear Ghost 5/6 (6 is better out of the box, and 5 gives more opportunities to upgrade it so u will get more experience) and for 3D software Fusion 360 is nice and free for creators, plus it's much more intuitive than other 3D software (at least for me). And then u can find any information on UA-cam, how to design smth, how to print, how to setup all that stuff, everything. So if you really want to make models for yourself - you actually CAN do it, no matter how hard it looks for you now.
@Traveller473 The two Federal laws for the the US that I can think of are the National Firearms Act of 1934 and the Gun Control Act of 1968. The NFA lists certain firearms that require you to register them with the IRS and paying a tax stamp before acquiring them. Not all States allow you to do this. The NFA and GCA also provide a definition of what a "firearm" "frame" or "receiver" is. And I think that these toys - due to be mechanically identical qualify as such.
@Traveller473 It is not a pipe dream 3D printing has become a lot cheaper and much more excessible than it was 5 years ago. Unfortunately 3D printers are not at the point where you can just plug them in and they are ready to go - unlike a video game console or smartphone that you setup once and it works. But if you are willing to read the manual, learn and look for advise online - UA-cam, Reddit and dedicated forums than it definitely doable. Some of the guns featured on this channel are mechanically identical and may depending on the laws of your Country or State and applicable federal laws be considered firearms. I am not a lawyer, but in the US this may only be an issue if you copy the firing mechanism and receiver.
The only thing I miss about this model is the trigger being set a little far forward but that is easily forgiven for the design. If I can find all the springs for it, I’m definitely printing this.
Probably the best looking 3D printed m1911 blowback gun I’ve ever seen. And if it shot like little foam balls or something, It would be better, but still a good build. Good job 👍
Hey, I bought the print a few days ago and I’m almost done putting it together. First off, the actual mechanism that you made for this is awesome, and the design of the gun feels perfect. But I’m having some trouble with getting the slide to return to its normal position after pulling the trigger. Any tips or suggestions?
@@zvc_3DPrintactually, my problem is now that the slide does not move at all, but the trigger and hammer work. When I pull the trigger, it’ll fire if I cocked the slide back manually. But the slide never moves by just pulling the trigger. What could be the issue? Thanks!

Great design, my attempted make did not function at the end of the build. I was unable to get the trigger mechanism to function properly.
